Rode the bike/hike trail. Love the prairie flowers and all the fall colors. Well maintained crushed limestone trail
Took my 6mo 28lb hound/terrier puppy to the dog park today. However our visit was short lived, due to a medium sized golden retriever constantly biting and attacking my pup as soon as we walked into the fenced dog area. The owner just watched it happen and carried on his conversation to a fellow clique member. Never have I ever felt like such an outsider at a dog park and it felt wrong to be the one to have to remove my dog from the situation. Sad that an owner couldnt be just that and take ownership over their dog acting inappropriately.
This place is beautiful. Nestled in the NW suburbs on the northern edge of DuPage County, its like a very big hidden jem. You cant help but see it if you live in Hanover Park or Bartlett, but unless you take the time to explore it, you might not realise just how immense it is.It runs from County Farm road on the east to Bartlett road on the west, and from just south of Devon all the way down to Stuckmam Boulevard. Its basically town sized, and much, much bigger if you consider that its now linked by overhead pedestrian bridge to Mallard Lake, plus the trails and parks north up to Greenbrook. Its not paved, but the path is very comfortably done in well crushed and compacted gravel. This makes it very comfortable for biking and hiking. On the map it looks flat, but in reality it has some significant hills that are gentle enough to escape first notice...until you are breathing hard to make it to the crest. Its very, very clean. No garbage. No structures. No benches. Just a huge expanse of natural beauty big enough to hear the wind instead of the sound of traffic. Its open prairie so there are no overhead trees on the path. Dawn and dusk are perfect times to go. You can park on Stuckman boulevard, or if you want a parking lot go to the park on the SE side of Greenbrook. Its big, so if you plan on hiking from one side to the other, come prepared...particularly for the weather. Plenty of water when its warm. Extra layers in a backpack if its cold. Cell phone, chem lights if you out in the late fall afternoon. I say this as a prepper because if you twist your ankle and your out there as night is falling, you want something to let you be easily seen. First aid kit is never a bad idea. As I said, its a very big place, and as it gets colder fewer people are around. But this is also its charm. I go there for the serenity. Walking the trail, I feel centered. Clears my head.Check it out. I think you will like it as much as I do.
Quiet, nice walk/bike trail. Lack of parking is the only knock.
Great dog park. Its kept clean and my dog loves playing with everyone:)
My dogs give it 5 stars
Dog Heaven!
Small trail but nice.
Great place for dogs and dog people.
Great time with my dog
Nice bicycle trails and scenery.
I just love the trails thru the prairies...the social area gets a little crowded though.
Great Prarrie spot
My dogs love going to this dog park. Its clean except for some muddy areas, we havent had any bad experiences there. Dogs are all well behaved and folks are friendly.
Very nice dog park
My dog and I love it here. 2 large off-leash areas fenced in and a huge area with a walking path fenced in. It can get muddy sometimes so plan for that and make sure to purchase dupage county off leash dog area pass
Nice place to walk your pooch
A really great place to take your dog(s). The walking path is the highlight of this bark park and is 1 mile of crushed gravel and completely fenced in.The dog play areas could use some more shade. The trees are still young so give it 25 to 30 years and they’ll be perfect. All the people seem really nice.Just make sure you go online and get the permit needed. You get an email copy immediately so you can go right away. I think it’s $50 for the year which I believe is well worth it.
Twice a day walks and the dogs love being off leash
Awesome place to take your dog. Love the layout
Well maintained. Dogs love it.
Best dog park in Chicagoland, hands down!
Nice, clean place to bring the dogs for a run...would be nice if they had more trees in the area
Better than we imagined. Love...love...loved it. Our border collie mix loved it so much we will definately be back. Thank you Hawk Hollow for having a place for them to run. Its very clean which I love.
Great walking trails, lakes, etc. Massive place to be enjoyed by all, cuts through multiple cities.
Dogs are happy and watch out for mud
Great fenced park. Fences within the fences too. Yes, there are some muddy spots if you want to do the long walk. But let the dogs be dogs!
Great location!
Take my pup here almost everyday. He loves playing with all his doggie pals, puppy parents are terrific. Great place to socialize your pup.
Hawk Hollow park is well maintained and completely fenced. There is a gravel trail that is about one mile around which makes running with my pup very convenient. Within the park there are two large areas of grass that are fenced off for large and small dogs. The park has poop bags but youll need to bring your own water.
Good
I liked it very much
Good trail
Great forest preserve. Good for walking and nature observation.
I wish there were more trees for shade during the summer months. I also wish there was a water source. Other than that, its a great, fenced in, off leash dog area I feel totally comfortable letting my dog roam around. Theres a mile long track to walk around and different areas for walking and playing.
Love this place for my husky and chorkie.
Lovely large walking trail and separate fenced play areas for smaller and larger dogs.
Nice place to walk or take a bike ride
Great Open spaces!
Great dog park. This is a place to see genuine happiness with your dogs
Nice grass. No mud.
An awesome trail to go jogging, riding, and even for a long stroll. The landscape looks beautiful and untouched.
Great walking trail
Terrific dog park. ...extremely well-lit out and maintained. Loved it!! You do need a license for your dog....
Great spot for unleashed dog walking. Need a pass. Double-gated, so no escapees!
I live it out my bedroom window every morning. Great sunrises over the Hawk Hollow Forest.
Lots of good walking trails for the humans. Not another soul the day we went so not as much fun for my dog.
The park has both enclosed play areas and pretty good distance walking paths. We have not been inside the play areas yet because the times Ive gone, there were too many dogs in there, and my dog would be new kid on the block. It was clear those dogs were already familiar with each other. So we will try it whenever we get lucky and there are not so many. We normally walk the paths and that way we both get our exercise. We both enjoy it. I have seen people not picking up after their dogs, but i suppose its not the parks fault. Overall a good place to bring Fido.
Completely love this place, as do my pups. We go to the dog park daily. Nice people, good place for you and your pups to get exercise. 1 mile walking track as well as separate fenced-off park area for dogs to play. It even has an area exclusively for smaller dogs. I like the entrance with the 2 gate entry system. Park benches and seating areas. Nice place to enjoy your pups and nature.
Great open dog park. My dog h ad fun!
Very nice facility to let your dog run around in an open fenced-in area with other dogs.
Geat Family/ Time :-)
My dog loves the trails as the play area.
Nice trail with prairie views, which will be made better with a trail connection to mallard lake in 2017. That being said there is nothing spectacular about this preserve. Park on in the street on Stuckman blvd
Great place for dog to run and play with other dogs.O
Great place to take your dog
Large area for dogs to run and play, nice walking path !!
I didnnt even visit it
Off lease dog park
Best off-leash dog area. One mile path loop.
Nice if you have a dog
Great walk. The brush has been cut back so it looks a little barren, however represents the Illinois prairie well. Be careful of falling aircraft, a plan crashed here on July 3rd of 2015.
My dog loves this place!
Very nice Forest Preserve
Once you find the actual preserve, its nice enough. Open prairie with one steep hill on the trail. Much better for biking than hiking. Whats nice is that it connects to a bridge and (soon) Mallard Lake FP.The trouble is the signage is terribly confusing. If you try to take the bike path up from West Dupage FP, youll almost certainly get lost or overshoot it - the signs make it seem like it encompasses a few neighborhoods (in terms of zoning, it might).
We bring our pooch to the dog park here regularily. The facilites are well maintained, and safe. The other folks we meet here seem to be freindly and the dogs always have a goodntime.nthere is a large walking trail that is off-leash, and two fenced fields, also off leash for different sizes of dogs.
Lovely elementary school with great teachers
Great dog park and trail!
Great place to let your dogs loose.
Great dog park!!
Great dog park
Nice little preserve with picnic areas and a playground.
Part gravel, part mowed grass trail. Beware of heavy tick infestation.
Awesome dog park
Lots of friendly owners and dogs. The park is huge.
Good bike path
