This place is great if youre looking for some peace and quiet. Far enough from the bustling noise of traffic to really be able to listen and be immersed in the calming ambiance of the forest. Nice long, scenic trails make this place enjoyable for everyone.

Always a fun place to explore and observe nature. Had a really fun scavenger hunt for the kids today. Open during Covid, just ask you wear a mask when you encounter people on trails.

Such a nice place. It’s not busy with visitors, which makes it a nice relaxing place to enjoy nature. Couple of paths to walk on. It has couple of birds to look at outdoors, which was nice. The guy working at the nature center was very kind and helpful answering our questions.I’d definitely come back!

The road leading to the nature center is a little difficult to spot. The place is quite nice though. For the trails only walking is allowed (no dogs/pets, no bikes), but there is a bike rack to park your bike coming into the nature center. The visitors center has a birds nest right outside the entrance as well as educational materials in the building

Our family of five - dad, mom and kids 7, 5, and 3 - loved our time there. Weather was upper 70s, partly cloudy - perfect. We spent about two hours exploring the indoor play center and exhibits and hiking to the outdoor play area. Our 5 yr old son liked the fort building area most, and the girls liked the butterfly garden and the frog pond where we counted 12 frogs! Well definitely come back for the programs.

Have visited many times; trails are often very muddy, but went again recently and had a great hike despite the mud. Go at a dry time!

Love that this is around to enjoy. Lots of squirrels around here though, but saw some nice birds and was nice to walk through nature.

Nature center seemed nice. Was told by staff we would need a permit to take family photos for personal use. Staff could not even approve the permit or take permit fee on site, it has to go through the Cook County main office. This is not reflected on the Crabtree website. Staff told us it is not on the site but is on the main Cook County preserve site. F- service wasted trip with young children.

This is a gem right off Palatine Rd. Easy to get to, there are rest rooms at main building and a museum as well. The trails initially might be a little wet, but it opens up and affords some great views.. Try it and you will be back..

Ive been going here 30 years. Its arguably the prettiest nature preserve between Starved Rock and somewhere in Wisconsin. It has a Nature Center, many walking paths, and even benches for the weary.
