The house is beautiful and is deeper than it is wide. There is an incredible, huge ash tree sculpture by Josh Landry in the front yard. Give it a google, its worth a look.Keep in mind this house is owned by not one, but two world famous authors. When looking over the front lawn, its nice to know that Tabitha collects frogs. It is super weird that people from all over the country (like me!) stop in front of the King home. There is even a tour company that will drive you there and provide storytelling to your stop. Personally, Im glad I didnt go with them as nobody was wearing a mask as they poured out of the tour van onto the sidewalk, where they then out on masks.

This is a fabulous view of the birth place of many of Stephen Kings gay characters including Adrian Mellon, Bill McGovern and Helen Deepeneau. The King home is worth visiting to look at the iron fence alone. If you are transiting through Bangor the house is an easy find on Broadway.

It feels somewhat voyeuristic to stop at someone’s house and take pictures. But he is a public figure and well known in Bangor. The house is very cool with some great details. There is the wooden carved tree and the gate has some spooky bats that guard the house.

Brought here on the Stephen King tour. What an amazing guy who’s used his success to help build up his home community. While I haven’t met him, I hold tremendous respect for the man in both regards to his masterful writing and his contribution to his city and state. For all his acclaim and fame, his gates to his house are wide open. I ask any and all who visit please not disturb or trespass as he’s earned himself that at the very least.Beautiful home! For terrific informative tour around Bangor I highly recommend this Stephen King tour:sk-tours.com

Ill tell you, being from California, the whole neighborhood is a sight to see. I recommend it to anyone with an interest in history and of course, Spookiness. We went on Halloween, 2019. It was cool and misting. The house and next door had their ironwork gates wide open, people coming and going. The handful of tourists ranged from Europe, Asia and another, the last accent I couldnt quite catch.

Me and my friends went trick or treating here once and the old guy who lives there slowly opened the door and said muahahahaha and we said whatever. Then he goes want to hear a scary story and we said no but he told it anyway, this guy was walking through the forest alone when he heard a noise. He slowly turned around then a ghost went BOOOO! but when he said boo he sort of shouted it and jabbed his hands out and stood there looking at us. He said did I scare you and we said no then he gave everyone an apple.

One of the best places I have ever visited even though I didn’t get invited in, or knocked on the door, or made a scene, or donned a tee shirt with his name and taken selfies in the front of his yard. I’m just a huge fan of his and this was a thrill. I silently thanked him for living among us. Sure it’s a huge beautiful old house but it’s in a real neighborhood. Somehow I think Stephen’s humanity is evident here and on the pages of the hundreds of books he has written. Thanks Stephen King.

This Street is small, quiet and lovely. We live in Boston but, met people from Oklahoma to New Mexico during the half hour we visited. Charming and a great cross off of the bucket list. The town is lovely. Small artsy shops, breweries. Busy or quiet areas along the waterfront. So, plenty for all tastes and interests to take in, after viewing Stephens house.

We stopped here on our way to Bar Harbor. I mean why not? And guess who we saw when we stopped by? Stephen King himself. I mean, he didnt speak to us, rather he was pulling in to his driveway. He did pause and look at us as he entered his home. He was probably wondering who the stalkers were. LOL!His home is in a typical residential area of older, stately homes. His house is the only one with a fence. And quite the decorative fence I might add. Its your typical wrought iron fence, except this one has wrought iron bats. The flying kind... it probably would have been cool had I tied a red balloon to the fence, but I didnt want to be too invasive.I would say if you are in the area or passing through on your way to upstate Maine, its worth a stop. Especially if youre a Stephen King fan.
