The last Survivor of Pearl Harbor - incredibly significant and unique ship. You cant find anything quite like this vessel anywhere else! It was built during the Great Depression and never stopped serving our country all over the world for more than 50 years. Saving lives and enforcing our laws in peace, defending our country and helping our allies in World War 2 and Vietnam.

If they cant even be honest about the ships real name how trustworthy is any of the other historical information they provide.

Very cool ship with very reasonable admission prices. Definitely check this place out if youre a navy buff and want to learn more about marine boats. Stairways are a bit narrow and steep but not a problem. Headroom is limited but enough where you dont have to strain yourself. Not many people when I visited so it was great to enjoy the boat without people crowding in. A lovely hidden gem.

Interesting to see a ship that saw service in WW2 and before. Not only was it cool to be able to tour most parts of the ship, but there were memorabilia, videos, posters etc. that gave a good idea of the ships history.

The Taney is a cool ship to visit. You can see the bridge, engine room, the crews quarters... They have a nice display on Vietnam and the attack on Pearl Harbor. Lots to see.

We did the overnight experience with the boy scouts and it was absolutely fantastic. We got to stay in the bunks that sailors slept in, we did General Quarters drills, we did a simulation of the ship leaking and needing to be secured. We got to see the Engine rooms in detail and the guns up close. We toured the bridge and the cic rooms. Very interesting and fun. Got a lot of extra history and learned a lot. Got to eat in the mess and tour many other components. If you get the chance to do this, I highly recommend it.

The biggest of the ships on display in the inner harbor. A very interesting history celebrating the ships military and civilian service. Expect about 45 min to complete the self guided tour

I served aboard CGC Taney as a member of the Coast Guard Reserve in the early 60’s. She was the best of the three cutters based in Alameda CA due to being purpose built as a CG Cutter. The only thing I can’t find in the photographs is the garbage chute located port side. When the ride got rough I spent some time there until I got my sea legs.

This 1935 US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) saw action and successfully defended herself during the 1941 Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor! She served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of World War II, seeing much combat action. Her last duties of World War II were to help evacuate American prisoners of war from mainland Japan. After her WWII service, she performed many peacetime Coast Guard duties and was called to action for the Vietnam War. All in all, the USCGC Taney served over 50 years, retiring in 1986!

The ship was cool, and the tour was very informative, but I had some issue with the overnight program. As an adult, I was required to perform a night watch shift at 1 in the morning, despite the fact that there were 6 staff members also sleeping on the ship at the same time. Im still youthful, so it wasnt a big problem, but other adults in my group were much older, and not entirely expecting this. If you are going to have 6 staff on the boat who are being PAID, you should be watching the ship, not me. Overall, if you arent an adult doing the night program, its a really cool ship.
