The website said they were closed (COVID) so we were pleasantly surprised they were open! I love this place for the Poe history, my wife loves it for the saddle stools & country theme. We will always stop here whenever we come to Baltimore. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!!

This Saloon is absolutely my favorite place to visit in Fells Point. I always start there during my bar hopping and end there late at night. They have great merchandise for you to purchase and I never leave there without purchasing something for myself and friends from hoodies to shot glasses. The staff is amazing, the owner is amazing and they make you feel like family. We had taken some friends there for their first visit from Pennsylvania and they as well loved the Horse You Came In On. I would definitely recommend this place to visit

I had a great time at The Horse You Came in On. The service was quick and the food was delicious. We loved the crab dip, pretzel bites, and home made potato chips. There was live music playing in the middle of the day which I consider to be awesome. Dana, the bartender was exceptional. She made certain that people at the busy bar and tables were served quickly. And shes adorable. She has such a kind spirit. It was a blast overall. I recommend it for a quick lunch or a long night. You cant go wrong.

I really liked this place. Up front theres a bar and lots of tables and chairs that you can sit at, have drinks and listen to music. All the way in the back theres another room that also has a bar but its more like a night club with lights and dance floor. Thats where we spent most of the night. Drinks were great and flowing all night. We had a blast.

So this place was just okay. The bartender had very little personality. The bar itself was actually pretty cool and I guess on a busy night it would be happening. The best thing about it was that its rumored to be the last place that Edgar Allan Poe had visited before he died. Would I go back? It would have to be an occasion.

Was recommended by many a blog and local person. So, we were excited to check it out. My husband was denied entry because he was wearing camouflage. Don’t know if this was some internalized racism from the black door man or some systematized racism that he was perpetuating from management, but we never got to experience the possible goodness this bar might have had to offer because of racist policies that are still pervasive in this country in 2020. I get having attire policies, but when they disproportionately impact black men, that’s a problem. Photo of my husbands outfit attached.

My wife and I frequent the Horse often and we really enjoy ourselves. The live bands that perform there are amazing. The food is really good especially the burgers and the wings. The Horse definitely offers something for just about everyone. I highly recommend The Horse You Came In On, whether you want to hear live music , a DJ, have a few drinks, or a quick bite, you have to stop by and check out the oldest saloon in Baltimore.

A little history fact the horse you came in on is the oldest bar on the East Coast from before prohibition! Maybe the US of a? And also it is the most looked into as in haunted in Maryland. All of the barmaids say the doors get closed and lights get turned on while patrons are there and when theyre trying to lock up. Ive been going there since I was a teenager and you always have a good time! You remember most of them LOL and the patrons nice so you can always talk to anybody in there.

One of my least favorite bars in Baltimore. It is a spot that I go when friends are in town for the first time and like history. Otherwise, the place has gotten way to crowded and is starting to lose its character. It used to be a fun bar with live music and a place you could go to and hang out and meet people and have fun.It feels like theyre trying to make it more of a club scene now,.

If you consider yourself one of Americas greatest drinkers, this place is straight up the Jerusalem/Mecca/Vatican youll be making a pilgrimage to. Continuously open since 1778 and having hosted E.A. Poe himself, you cant call yourself a respectable drunkard without stepping foot into this hallowed ground. Just check their dress code on the website before you go so youre in the right attire. Live music at any given time. Good beer, good whisky, A WHOLE TEQUILA BAR....give me two days off and 100$ and Ill show you how to fall in love with a bar. This place is where that drinking story started. To the people not from Tennessee: they have a wide selection of Jack Daniels. To the people from Tennessee: they have Bulleit Bourbon.

The bartender insisted he had to play “football, basketball, or baseball” and that no one wanted to watch women’s soccer. Fully switched women’s soccer to an obscure basketball game — had to watch Alabama play Alabama, truly an underwhelming situation. Do better, man, it’s 2020...

Came here yesterday, had a great time. Not only did the live music and multiple bars make it that much more enjoyable. Brittney my bartender was super sweet. It was a friends 21st birthday this was just supposed to be our first stop but we liked her and the bar so much we stayed. In the very very back is a dance floor that we used later in the night. DJ kept the party going.**** came here again on a Thursday and Brittney was actually here again!! She gave me the same amazing service. Only downside was the back dancing area was closed so we went back and fourth from the live music side back bar to the other sides front bar to dance. Brittney is always willing to let us talk her ear off and laugh hard with us! If this place wasn’t a little far from where I live I’d be a regular. Also there was another girl in the back with she was nice as well.

We were in town visiting it was advertised to have ladies night $5 calls on their current Facebook page. When we recieved our $160 tab for 3 people I asked the bartender about the ladies night special he said it was only bottled beer and shots if the have a shot special, which they didnt, and the gentlemens beer was the same price as the ladies night discount. The music was great. Service was mediocre at best. Towards the end of the night another gentleman dumped my drink and the bartender didnt replace it he made me buy a new one. So whether you are from Baltimore or just passing through our great city a must stop by place is The Horse You Came In On Saloon. The minute you walk through the doors the aroma of Jack Daniels hits you along with friendly greetings from an amazing bar staff. You need a minute to take in all the nostalgic theme and history the place offers. They have a wide variety of spirits and beers both bottle and draught to quench your taste buds and pallet. As you move through out the establishment you will visit 3 more bars all themed a little different which makes this place so awesome and cool. They have live music all day in the front of the location and during certain nights they have a DJ in the adjacent bars in the rear of the location.Let’s now move to everyone’s favorite topic the food menu. There are so many items to choose from and unlike other places some are better then others no not the case here they are all equally delicious. The owner Eric has taken his Saloon Kitchen and perfected a menu to suit his bars needs! From the amazing wings to the sliders to daily made homemade salsa and chips for just a few starters. The chef has created amazing entrees that are paired perfectly to give you that wow knock out punch to your taste buds the moment you sink you teeth into any of the food. Just recently they decided to add weekend brunch from 11a-3p with a killer taste bud loving menu. The steak and eggs are a personal favorite of mine but it was hard not to get a second course because of how tasty the brunch menu is especially when they hit you with a suburb Cinnamon French Toast!!! Next on the to try list is the Crab Benedict stay tuned for further reviews!!So if you a native to Baltimore or just in town for few hours swing on through and check out this historical bar in Fells Point. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Awful experience. I asked the bartender if they had porters, she had no clue what I was talking about. My friend and I ordered our meals. She received her meal 5 minutes before I was given mine. My order was wrong and we were not given silverware. I had to wait 10mins for the server to return to let her know I received the wrong food. She then took my food over to the bar area where a manager and another server discussed whether I could get the meal taken off of my check. The manager never checked in with me. The live band was chanting weiner weiner weiner.
