We greatly enjoyed our time here and never had to wait for a gallery, despite highly restrictive limitation of guests in each gallery. Security was polite and helpful.

Wow I didn’t expect that many things to see in this museum and it’s free. I wish I could spend more time here, but I only had 45 mins before it closed. I definitely recommend. I’ve visited museums everywhere, UK, Spain, New York, etc etc. this is definitely one of the best.

This museum is free to the public and has many ancient art and artifacts. Of particular interest is some of the old combat armor, mummies, hieroglyphics, and two Fabrege eggs. The museum is not very large. You need about 30 minutes to briskly walk through the exhibits, or 60 minutes if youre on a more leisurely pace. Some of the informational signage could be improved with more detail.

Stunning art in a warm and friendly environment :). I was in Baltimore for the day and this museum was nearby. This ended up being the highlight of my trip! Upon entry, the staff gives you a warm greeting. (I met Eric, who was wonderful!) There were free lockers to place my backpack, to lighten my load while I walked the museum. There was even a cafe. (I met a staff member there named Sheba. She was so sweet and a joy to talk to!) The Walters Museum was immaculate and so well organized! All of the staff throughout the museum were friendly and accommodating. The pieces of art were stunning and versatile. This place is so worth the visit! Highly recommended!

The wealthy overlords of Baltimore make sure to do everything in their power to ensure than Baltimore received the finest, the best that all artists of every stripe had to offer, and the Walter family,Father and Son were no exception. The Former home the one of the elite Merchant families of the state of Maryland, the Walters Art Museum contains some of the finest art from all over the globe to be found anywhere.

On top of great exhibits, the building itself is absolutely stunning. We were there on a Friday afternoon and the place was nearly empty of people. It really enhances our experience. There is a free locker room where you can stash coats, bags, etc and have it locked up with one of those lockers where you set the code yourself. Super handy for anyone traveling with backpacks or bulky jackets (as we were!).

The Walters Gallery is probably the best classical museum in Baltimore. The collection spans from the prehistoric to the modern. A great place to spend an afternoon. While more culturally inclined teens will be fine, there isnt much here for younger children. The collection is extensive and exhibited in a manner that allows one to view the collection at ones leisure, and without dealing with crowds. The mansion itself offers a glorious backdrop to the vast collection.

The staff was very informed and answered our questions. Sadly we didnt have time to check out everything we had found of interest while planning our trip online. The website was very well constructed. Our primary interest was seeing the St Francis of Assisi Missal and it didnt disappoint. The supporting items for display and other religious items were fascinating. It was wonderful to be able to see such a variety of pieces in different mediums all crafted by true artisans hundreds and thousands of years ago. Simply beautiful to behold!

Walters Art Museum is a hidden Gem within the city. Each room is filled with marvel, wonder and unadulterated awe. The craftsmanship is astonishing and Im not just talking about the exhibits the buildings interior rooms are impressive to the point worthy of a mention in the Whos Who of gob-smakingly-awsometastic architectural accomplishments. Sure its not Castle Neuschwanstein or the Taj Mahal - its better! I said it! Neuschwanstein is as tacky as Disneyland and the Taj Mahal is a grave - for real look it up. No, no my friends Walters Art Museum is up there with the London museums and dare I to say it, the MET.So if you get a chance, maybe a lazy afternoon or a long morning just take the time to walk around this place. Theres an old-world craft to the exhibits that perhaps is lost to us know and thankfully perfectly preserved in this cathedral of artistic accomplishment.Ok thats my review art lovers, sorry about the spellings and grama.Jerry

Beautiful frames of artwork from all over the world. My favorite exhibit is located on the top floor. If you walk back to the room with red painted walls there are pictures from floor to ceiling. Each frame is labeled in books provided for you to review that are located in benches. This is a great way to introduce art. I plan to take my cousins so that they can appreciate canvas arts, oil and acrylic paintings

Go check out the sarcophagus alone are there absolutely well intact and beautifully demonstrated to the public. A lot of the artwork relates two different types of time periods placed in there accordingly. Did I forget to mention that they have a little kid section down at the bottom of the museum? Most art museums dont even appease to children so Im happy they found a way to get them involved in art history as well. I will certainly be returning again when Im not doing a project just so I can enjoy each aspect of the museum. Keep up the great work your security guards and staff are absolutely brilliant.

This museum is simply amazing. I went with a friend on a whim. When they say entry is free, they mean it. There are no windows or tables you have to walk by, no one “encouraging donations.” Just a guard who welcomes you in and an enthusiastic man who gives out maps and information about the museum. There are so many levels with detailed and educational plaques. My friend and i spent hours there and barely scratched the surface. I especially love the rooms that are styled and decorated to reflect the time period of the art on display. Before we knew it, the museum was closing and we had to leave. I could’ve spent many more hours there and I will absolutely be visiting The Walters Art Museum again.

The Walters has a really interesting collection with numerous pieces from Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Europe; ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt; Asia; Central America; the Middle East; and more! This museum is fantastic! There are so many things to see and do here. Last night my son and I went to a lecture and this morning were going to watch how the museum restores old books, paintings, etc. This is all for free. Unbelievable. My son is 35 but has autism, tourettes along with other disabilities but he loves to go there and usually was there twice a day. Last year we went to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It was so filled we stayed for the first and also came back for the second celebration. He went this year with his sister to celebrate the year of the rat which is what sign he was born under. It sounds like they increased the activities this year. Im from Michigan and I hope the people from Baltimore understand how lucky they are to have such a gem right down the street.

Visited the Walters when I was in town for a conference, and it was a really nice experience. They have a diverse collection, and clearly put a lot of work into their education programs. I was a bit confused by the lack of signage in some areas and lack of security in others. I saw patrons touching and getting too close to art, and I was unsure what was permitted and what was not due to the lack of staff. This was hopefully just a one-time issue, as the rest of my experience was great.
