We never got the opportunity to see the light show before the pandemic this made our night. It was a fair price for our entire family to be with us. Will recommend again.

We visited the drive-thru lights at CALM Thanksgiving weekend and it was worth the wait! Be prepared to wait in line...it is a long road up the hills, but like I said well worth it!The Teen Challenge booth is off to the side, where it is also a drive up booth. They are selling their amazing kettle corn & some other snacks. The only thing that I didn’t like about it was that you had to squeeze back in line. I wish they had people on the side of the road, carefully selling the popcorn so we don’t have to move out of place, but it’s ok! Other than that, popcorn is still the best! There was tons of lights and exhibits you went through, each one of them had a theme.We love coming here each year for the lights, this year was no different. We wanted to make the best out of it, and we did! I recommend this experience to everyone, to get out and go for a joy ride to get you in the Christmas spirit.Excellent job transforming the parking lot! Hope you all get a chance to visit, it is $30 per vehicle!

Wow! This light show is long overdue. Kids dont have to be drug around in the cold. You can watch in your car and stay warm. Incredible display!

The lights were beautiful. It was a nice pleasant drive through Christmas light show. Very organized considering the amount of cars going through!

We love CALM. We get memberships every year. This year, we upgraded our membership a bit to help them offset some costs with COVID wreaking havoc on businesses/non-profits that depend on visitors.We popped out for a visit and as usual, we had a great time.Im taking away a star because despite numerous signs placed that masks were required, we had to evacuate several areas repeatedly due to numerous families refusing to follow the mask requests. I understand that CALM cannot control everyone but it was honestly so rampant, I was a little uncomfortable.Otherwise, CALM is the best, we love their mission and will purchase memberships every year!

Literally one of my favorite Zoos that I have gone to so far! The games and activities were shut down at the time but seeing the animals was very fun and the walk is very easy! No big hills. The Zoo is a little small but you will definitely get to see a ton of animals!

Great place to see some lights. This year I thought was even better the fact I dont even have to get out my warm car was awesome. See ya next year

Went to the Christmas lights at CALM and I have to say... Even though were going through this pandemic and we couldnt walk around like normal, they made the drive through really special!

This is a must visit in Ken County!!! The place is in the middle of nowhere, the species are amazing, the love they have for the animals and rescues is admirable! We visited the place because they rescued a couple blue jay nestlings we brought to them that our cat got from their nest and almost died, they answered our messages right away and took the little guys and got them back to life! We decided to stop by and see the place and we really enjoyed it. We love nature and animals and was so refreshing to see the good work this place does for the animals and how they continue to rehabilitate and home so many with just donations... please visit this place and enjoy a day with them, this place rocks!

It was amazing to witness the covid safe lights

Very nice place. We have been here numerous times especially during Christmas for the Christmas light show. It is wonderful and nice low price. Wonderful safe family environment. You can spend many hours here at the light show, lots to see. Snacks to eat and animals to see and rides to get on. Its very beautiful and highly recommended. In the summer we have been here to see the animals. Lots of history here. Thank God for this animal sanctuary taking good care of these animals.

Its was a beautiful day for a train ride. 1st time taking a ride. Kids really enjoyed it. The calm zoo is a great way to spend time with the kids. The zoo have grown & bloomed in so many great ways.

Amazing holiday lights experience for all.We have also finally just visited during the day. The exhibits are extremely fun to see and with not as many people at the zoo, the kids got to experience a lot of one on one time with the volunteer docents and workers asking questions.We really enjoyed this trip as well as seeing workers take down the CALM holiday zoo light displays so the children also got to see how much work went into putting on the light show.

It was so creative and nice the way it was set up.

Great place to take the kids for a quick day trip. You can bring a picnic lunch and eat there. Petting zoo area for the small kids.

I got teenagers and kids and didnt know if they were going to enjoy going to calm zoo but we all loved i bought the membership its cheaper and you get to go all year !! They have a room with live sea creatures like crabs sea horses jelly fish and other that you can actually touch ...Its very peaceful place theres restrooms every where and a nice small park for kids to play rest area with benches where you can eat and spend time with your family..A train a carousel and other neat stuff I recommend this place for all ages ..Staff are great very respectful and helpful.

Holiday lights at calm is something great and cute to do with family/friends! Kinda chilly so dress warm and grab some hot chocolate and kettle corn while youre there!!

My family and I have always loved coming here. You can tell how much love and dedication went into this place. The staff is amazing! It is always a blast here during the holidays too!

The Holiday lights was a great experience. It was freezing cold, but that did not lessen the impact. It seems to get better each year. The train ride was the icing on the cake.

CALM has totally stepped up their game! Love all of the animals and exhibits! From bears to owls, roadrunner and possums, to mountain lions and a whole lot more! Reasonable priced admission and a great afternoon adventure for a family with little ones!

We try to get out to CALM at least once a year. Really nice place and very well maintained with an interesting variety of local animals. You can comfortably see the whole place in less then two hours. Staff is very good.

I love coming here. And now as a bonus I get to bring my grandkids. They are both 3 and they had a blast. We took a picnic lunch and ate there. After seeing the animals they got to play on the slide.

WoW, can I say that again...? WoW! This place is amazing! We went for the Christmas Light Show and we were blown away! I was told by an employee it took over 4 months to set up and there were over 3 million light on display, amazing, an absolute must see display! Okay heres the skinny on this event, the parking was planned very well the people staffed to handle this were very well informed and knew what to do. We got to our spot quickly and without any trouble to speak of.Now a few tips before you go... 1. Dress warm its gonna be cold, this is all outside at night. 2. You will be walking a lot so put on walking shoes, I saw a few girls get heels stuck in the grass areas and a few guys get their nice dress shoes quite muddy. 3. Get there early lots of people show up, this way you can take your time to enjoy this amazing event. 4. Take a huge heaping of patience, there are lots of children who just want to enjoy the lights, take a cue from them and find your inner child you will be amazed, just follow their lead... trust me on this one! Great animals

Ive never been to a museum that only had native animals before, but it was really cool to see some of the animals Id been reading about on plaques during my road trip. Seeing the big cats was a definite highlight, although the cuddling bears were pretty great too.

Called for help about an injured bird and the male on the phone said they were at full capacity. Fine ok, then I asked if there is anyone else in town that can help me, he said the nearest one would be Fresno. Fine. Then, I asked for any advice or tips to save the baby bird and he said We cant be liable for anything, you can google it I was just like wow really. What are they in town for? I called another Animal Rehab, I will not disclose the name or location, and they laughed about what CALM said, and said Wow!!!! Thats despicable. Trying to make excuses for Covid. Is what the other Rehab person said. That other person I called gave me advice right away. I ALSO called another Rehab in another city, that gave me tips and advice right away and told me they would take the baby in if I drove it there, which I agreed too despite it being far...but thanks to the lack of immediate help from CALM the baby bird I was trying to save died. Thank you CALM for caring about animals. You are in my city and when I needed your help the most you turned me away, with some negligent person on the phone. I know what its like working with animals, however I dont specialize in birds unfortunately. Thanks for your help. The only thing CALM cares about is their stupid light show during Xmas that has nothing to do with animals. Pathetic.

An amazing museum with many sights and sounds of Californias native life and filled with many species of flora. The many years have helped improve and make the museum truly wonderful.

Were just looking for a good way to kill a few hours with the kiddos. Happened to be kids free day and the animals were very active, a few docents weree out talking to visitors, even had a Red-Tail Hawk out. My kids loved it and we will definitely be visiting more often.

Went to see the lights. Wouldnt have gone by choice unless it was with a cute girl or something... Dragged by family. Seems great for those on dates or with children.

I would, very much recomend this museum (Zoo) to anyone adult and children any day or night. When they do their Christmas lights it is AMAZING. A must see.

Even though this zoo is relatively small, I enjoy it every time I come. All my kids just run from enclosure to enclosure, loving to see the animals that are all native to California. All of the sign posts are very informative about the different animals, I wish I had time to read more of them because Im chasing my childrens excitement.Definitely worth a visit.

Our family enjoys CALM several times each year. Great place to walk and learn about California indigenous animals and plants. The organization has made consistent improvements over the years.

We visit every year for Holiday Lights at CALM. Definitely a place you want to take the kiddos or your significant other. Very calming and could be a romantic setting for a cool date night.

Been here a lot of times before, but this is my first time for the holiday lights show. Even with the huge number of people attending, parking was a breeze; there were guides all over the place. Admission was $ 12 adults $6 kids. Once inside we were amazed by the gazillion lights. There was an old style carousel were the whole family can ride. There is also a train ride. There are the regular restrooms, but because the size of the crowd, they have installed porta-potties all over the place. They are clean and well illuminated. If you live in Baketsfield and havent been here, shame on you. If youre not from the area or just passing by, dont miss this one. Its awesome, you will enjoy.

Very well thought out, albeit small, wild animal park. Im glad we stopped here, though many of the animals were sleeping. The staff was awesome and helpful. I dont have good pics on my phone, unfortunately, but the birds were particularly cool.I believe they take in and rehabilitate animals here, which makes them automatically awesome.

This annual Christmas lights show is a must for us. We recommend it!

Family night at Calm for the Christmas lights. We all loved the lights and train ride,kettle corn and hot chocolate and all the different animals that we could see. Only because it was dark and some were hiding in their houses. The kids really enjoyed it and we got to see Santa and take pictures with him. KCSOS had an awesome VIP set up with popcorn, face painting, cookies, hot cocoa and a place for kids to write their Dear Santa, letter. So much fun. Highly recommend CALM during Christmas season and during regular business hours.

It was nice...The Christmas lights...I didnt give it 5 stars because it was Sooooo Cold...I dont think its such a good Ideal to come to a Zoo with so many empty spaces where air can engulf you.. YOU never realize how small the place is until u walk the whole thing and just look at lights....Which were beautiful and perfect for photo opportunities... Driving up there is a bit tricky in the dark...So PLEASE BE CAREFUL...other than that... Definitely worth going

We have been many times and my kids always love it! Its beautifully landscaped and weddings can be held here as well. They recently added a marine aspect with a hands on small structure where you can touch some salt water creatures and an in wall jellyfish tank. Its not large at all so when there are a lot of people its hard to get in there. Good place to go and just walk around see animals and kiddos have a play area. A train ride is offered and they have holiday lights at Christmas time

One of my favorite places in town

Took my son here last week to see the lights. The entire zoo is covered in light and it was very entertaining. They had a little area for kids to watch lights and dance. It was a very family friendly night and I was so glad my friends suggested we go with our kids!

Love the Christmas light display they put on. We planned to visit all the way from Australia and it surpassed all expectations. It was just amazing. The hot cocoa was so nice to have while walking through all the displays. We have never seen anything like this before and highly recommend everyone going and checking this out.

Every year its better than the year before. I had to ask if Josh was still the person doing the lights and he is! AWESOME job Josh! Best advice is to be there when it first opens! Much less crowded!

I took my kid, fiancee, her niece there the last day of the light display (or holidays, offically) and we enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and explained bit about the animals. I plan to go again this year but this time i will remember to bring my glasses.

I had a fun to walk around with my 10 month-old baby. Small but great for a short getaway. And the admission fee is reasonable.

Small but child friendly. Petting zoo area, ducks, ocean life exhibits, park area with picnic tables, train ride. Perfect for quality time with the kids. Staff are always super nice.

Kids love coming here the touch tank is amazing, the big cats are fun to watch and the goats are always up for an ear-scratching.

Relaxing walk through this little park with some very nice exhibits and features of a wide variety of animals. Great time with something for everyone in your family and very affordable.

Weve gone to CALM every year since 2014 and we love it. This last year we took the grandkids to see the lights at Christmas time and it was beautiful. And the kids loved it. With the animals and lights. Best time ever.

This is a great place to take young kids. There is plenty of space for them to run around and get some energy out. The animals are interesting and fun to learn about. We went at dusk in August and there was enough shade that it wasnt even hot. It was a great evening.

Love this event. It was great to take my family and show my kids where I used to go when I lived in Bakersfield. The line for kettle corn and coco took way too long though.

Went for CALM Lights. It was very pretty. Its very cold though so make sure you are wearing warm clothes, beanies, gloves, blankets, etc.

First timers, it was nice to see all the animals up close. Would of been nice to see the bears awake. Maybe next time.

First time visiting the Living Museum at night. A very remarkable light show. The volunteers did an excellent job as well.

Great place! Let the Christmas lights. Normally good parking, but if you go for the Christmas lights go early. They get very busy and parking can get tough.

Had a great experience at C.A.L.M. today!! Saw all the animals up close and personal and got some great photos! Some of the animals were hiding at first, because so many children were there for field trips. But after about 12:30 in the afternoon when the parked calmed down and the buses left all the animals were loving the cold weather and roaming around! Got some great photos, especially of the mountain lions, bears, and the bobcat:) One zoo keeper was especially awesome today! I didn’t get his name but he brought a Hawk out on his glove and taught all the children about him and his species. And in the reptile house he also brought out a very friendly older gopher snake that all of the children could see up close and even touch! Great day to go to the park! I would recommend coming after 12:30 if possible for your schedule! I love the new ocean exhibit area as well with recently added sea horses, octopus, and touch tank with many ocean creatures! Love our local zoo and especially all go the keepers that make C.A.L.M. zoo as great as it is!
