I actually had my daughter out there in 86..I lived at the campground below Fellow hmm drawing a blank sorry.. after I had my daughter I moved back to NJ but visited often.. just wondering if you or anyone remembers my mom? I havent been there in about 30 yrs. Or if any of the people still live there..Im terrible with names but if mentioned I probably would remember.. just sending a friendly hello..I was looking at pictures of camp looks the same..my daughter learned to swim in the pool.. a respond would be wonderful but no necessary... inhope to take my daughter back and show her where we lived and she was born.. she hasnt been there since shes 5.. well take care ....ty
Who knew that there was a campsite that was clean, hospitable, accommodating and affordable with campsites next to the river in AZUSA! I HIGHLY recommend this site. My experience in my dealings with both Bill and Kitty are extremely positive. Super accommodating, friendly, and hospitable. Their fathers day program they put together really made the weekend special for me, the family AND the dog.
We come here once a year, Staff has always been great! But this year the Shower/Restrooms really need a good cleaning..Mainly the showers. But overall is an Awesome place to camp with family and family..
THE STAFF IS HORRIBLE. DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME. In a time like this, a simple nice email response would be ideal. They decided to email back and be so rude and have no empathy. I simply asked if they were open, because I am currently without a home.
Stopped in for the first time this Saturday after passing it for many years 10 plus years. My propane holes broke was looking for a replacement they didnt have one but they did sell small propane tank which worked just as well. The staff was great, friendly and very welcoming. Havent spent the night there yet. We camp down the street. Theres 10 plus in my family. When we go its from 2 to 4 nights. So well have to give it a try for a night. But other than that the ladies were great. Food prices are very reasonable.
A blast from the past. Just as much fun today as it was back then! Beautiful surroundings and the rustic Southern California mountain Canyon lands! Its nice to know these wonderful places, like this, still exist! A lot of places have come and gone over the past 50 plus years, but this fantastic place is still here! Awesome!
First time camping at Camp Williams. We arrive from San Diego. Honestly everything we experience was beyond what we expected. Staff was nice and polite. Complete paradise. It was a group of 5 families with kids from age 1-15 yrs or age. All kids had a blast making memories. Plenty of space and water for everyone to enjoy the shade under the trees . I only wish we had more time to enjoy it more. Thank you Camp Williams staff.
Had an amazing time up there for WITS (women in the spirit) the grounds keepers cleaned up the entire weekend and patrol at night to assure your safety. The views and atmosphere is wonderful as mother nature surrounds you with her beauty.
Took a group of boys scouts for an overnight trip.The panning for gold was very well organized and the boys learnt a lot about how it worked then, add well as modern methods. They all were able to find some gold.The boys enjoyed hours of swimming, wading, and playing in the river.The owner was always around, talking to the campers, helping out with tips and tricks, etc.Unfortunately, this camp had lost a lot of their property in the recent rains, so it was a little tight.I cant wait to go back there with the boys next year.

Customer service needs a lot of fine tuning—and likely ownership all together. Do not expect a pleasant experience here. We attempted to find a place to stay here after the government shutdown ruined our camping trip and we needed a backup location. We were met with unnecessary rudeness seemingly by the owner. Will not ever recommend friends or family here.EDIT: The owner has replied claiming that I was part of a drinking group of children—I do not know about this situation, though I see similar comments debating back and forth below. For one thing, being a grown man and picking a fight with young folks is never a good look. Wouldn’t recommend it—handle your conflicts with tact and reason, then lead by example. Respond professionally. Second, at 63 years of age and as a resident of FL who was out on vacation out in the area—good God I wish I was young and drinks sat well on me! Not the case at all, unfortunately. I wish we had run into the pleasant staff. Hope the kids all ended up being safe and not breaking any laws.

I had the best time with my son & my family playing in the rapids. I will definitely go back for a day trip and possibly an overnight trip.
Gorgeous little campground right along the river. Perfect place to escape the city in the serene San Gabriel mountains without going insanely far. Also plenty of amazing hikes and waterfalls near the campground if thats your thing this would be a great base camp for a few nights!
Had a great time. Ladies room flooded Sat & Sun. Everything else was great. We will definitely be back.
A small restaurant, more important they have ice cream ! Makes a great stop while motorcycling in these mountains.
This place is awesome. The Department of Fish and Game has to save this camp now! Great family memories and gold mining experiences!
Camp Williams is a small get very friendly RV resort. While you do not get cell phone reception up there they offer a limited selection of cable channels to entertain the children when there is a little bit of downtime. I found Camp Williams to be very relaxing and quiet. There is a small stream that runs through Camp Williams and it is a short walk to the full RV hook up sites. They also offer tent camping, there are additional amenities including bathrooms and showers. The camp host is very friendly and when he is home you can actually get on the limited Wi-Fi. Overall Camp Williams is a nice little getaway not far from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
Beautiful family creek to visit enjoy swimming n picnic nice place to take pictures n sit in the water hammock on the tree beautiful.i had to clean the area because who ever was their before me left lots trash like diapers been can n what not makes me mad such a beautiful place to visit n peole just cant be more clean.

I have not been there since the new staff so I have nothing negative to say about them.Ive been going there since Mark and his wife been working there may God have her soul. Hopefully, they will open this yr I tried last year but it was closed.

Camp Williams is the perfect place to stop and have food and drinks when riding out bikes! Even when Im not hungry, I always swing by. Service is always great! A 6 pack of beer is cheaper than 2 singles!
If you ever need help while in the east fork canyon there is payphone here and they have food also if there open!
It was freezing tonight and as we pulled into the parking lot a guy, who claimed to be the owner, was watching us from the window. We were all tired and had NO WHERE else to go. As we were trying to check in he started yelling at us and making us feel threatened. As we used the porter potty before leaving and discussing as a group he continued to watch us. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Would not recommend!!!EDIT RESPONSE TO OWNER: no one was drinking and we asked politely to pay for camping. If there were cameras as said there is proof that no one was drinking. Use the videos if you’d like we have nothing to hide. Show the proof of us drinking!

We’re looking for a getaway for our anniversary. After reading the reviews, this is NOT where we will be going! It’s absolutely appalling how the owner responds to people’s complaints! Pretty hard to believe that every negative review (over the course of a year) is a liar and a group of drunks. Even if they were drinking and being loud, the response to these reviews is horrific.
Amazing! One hour paradise outside of L.A. campground was safe and clear. Running river sounded lovely. OMG toast were amazing! Miss Kathy is a wizard in the kitchen. CWR is a 9.0 out of 10.
Awesome place to take the family. Be sure to talk to kitty, she’s the best. The bathrooms are a little run down so there’s that.
The creek area outside was very nice! I enjoyed a day out in nature. I definitely would go back!
Owner screamed at us to get off his property. A man claiming to be the owner threatened us and. We were worried that he had a gun and as the oldest person in our group asked if we could pay him as the owner to stay he continued to threaten us. As we started to drive away he walked down and followed our car down the road. Very creepy would not recommend.
I grew up there. A wonderful family oriented place. Bill the manger is wonderful and, helpful.
Camp Williams is a nice spot to hung out and camp.they also got the cafe near bye next door of camp Williams resort. People out there are friendly campers very helpful when u need help.i heard from a friend of mine. I heard the food is good got to try it one day at the cafe spot open friday thur sunday.they got pay phone outside 50 a 3 min call local..place to gold mine to in the Canyon

Stayed for a week. The river is beautiful and is 100% spring fed...crystal clear! Unless just after a rain. Warm in the day, cool at night...perfect. Staff was great. Theres even a security guy that keeps an eye on everything. Made me feel safe. Great place.
Very small campground. Only a few of the spots have shade. You will definitely want an ez-up for some shade. Bathrooms are well kept as far as camp grounds go, and even have showers and flushing toilets. There is a beautiful river on one side that our kids have fun playing in. Yet, there is a very busy road on the other side right next to the camp sites which doesnt really allow you to have that mountain experience of getting away from it all. There is a very small general store at the entrance and theres supposed to be a restaurant. However, they didnt have a cook and were closed until they could hire a new one. You will really want to bring plenty of toys and games when coming here because there isnt much to do and isnt much in the way of hiking trails either. One big CAUTION! Keep your tent zipped up at all times! There are TARANTULAS!
LOVED LOVED LOVED it here!! Staff was great and surely cares for their customers and the grounds. We will surely be back to camp as it is a must to get away from such a busy technology saturated world these days. The peace and quiet of no phone or internet service is priceless!!! Also my kids were in heaven being in the river all day!!
Camp Williams is a great place to stay. We spend at least one week a year at this camp and we always have a blast! The management is always helpful and will regale you with a great story if you ask! If you are looking for a great place to stay very local and an easy drive, come to Camp Williams.
Cannot believe people like this exist nowadays...My girlfriend and I wanted to take a trip somewhere nice so we went to the camp. Our car broke down on the campsite and this old white male, Who I later learned was the owner of the campgrounds, came to help us his help was just short of a hate crime. Harrasing my girlfriend and I for our identities and our relationship. The ONLY reason my review isnt lower is because the cafe had decent food. DONT VISIT if your LGBTQ+ the owner obviously doesnt want you hereEdit: I am now being harrased online by the owner again. I AM NOT A DRUNK nor have I drinken in many years. Changing my review appropriately
Just by reading the reviews i would never ever stay in such a unfriendly place. They make threats talk to you like that? Jesus i hope they got rid of that garbage management. Get off that high horse and show respect to the costumers.

Great camping spot! Stayed here for Valentines day. Wish we couldve stayed longer.We were in a tent next to the river. The water is cold, but refreshing. Make sure you bring an elevated cooker.Be back in the summertime!
I would give this place 0 stars if that were an option.Its nothing but a cleared out piece of dirt land next to a river(I would say more like a dirty stream).When we first arrived there were patrons outside of the cafe talking trash about our trailer, once given our spot, we were then told there was no electricity, which I specified we would need when I reserved the spot. We still decided to stick it out for the night since they told us it was likely to come back on that evening. The spots are tiny and NOT on the river. Once set up, a worker came by and said the electricity would be on by 11 that night. He did not offer us any other accommodation or refund, just that it was out of his hands. The other people in the campground looked to be living there and turned on their VERY LOUD generator, which they left on all night into the morning. When it was clear that we were on our way out the next day, the worker comes up again and says oh, the power is back on if you need it. WOW. What a coincidence that when we were leaving the power comes back. I would NEVER stay here again even if it was FREE. IF YOU SOME DIRT AND MEAN PEOPLE ON A CAMPSITE WITH A DIRTY STREAM , THIS IS YOUR PLACE.

Went there today with my service animal was denied service sheriff was supposedly called they never arrived and I told Darrel Im not leaving you cannot denied me service because of breed restrictions because hes a service animal, escalated to a fight so I left and Im doing any reviews on that property I will be there every day and I hope he calls the sheriff so he is educated on the law. Have fun Camp williams Manager Darell see you again with my service animal and I will ignore you like I did today I sure hope you are educated on service animals, doesnt matter about breed or if its a hourse.
My son just turn seven and we asked him, what will he like for his birthday and he said, I want to go camping and off roading. His wish came true! First time staying here and I loved it my kids loved it my nieces and nephews loved it my husband loved it, great location near azusa canyon for those who love off roading, we spend our morning in azusa canyon off roading and our afternoon at camp Williams grilling food while we watched the kids play and laugh in the water, their service is amazing Im definitely coming back! My kids didnt want to come back to san diego, rob did and amazing job teaching my self and my family educational fact about nature, my daughter and nephew got to hold a tarantula and we got to see a baby Randal snake up close! One word AMAZING 3 day weeked. When my son says best birthday ever mom and dad. Thanks camp Williams staff! Will be back soon.
Very clean, and beautiful campsites with a stream right in front of your site. Convenient store and restaurant on site of you dont wanna cook your meals.

This campsite has the rudest people I have ever met, the place is rundown, the advertisements online are lies and have I mentioned how rude the camp staff are? I came here just to look at the place and I would advise everyone to stay away.

All I know is the place is haunted .its sacred land . if you plan on camping there stay up till the witching hours right there where the ramp is and tell me what you hear . dont get me wrong it is not an evil experience it is awesome and when you hear it you will look around trying to figure out where its coming from and then youll realize your smack in the middle of it .
Extremely rude folks, the website says they rent units, but they told me they do not rent.. Very rude. False advertising. The place is crawling with drug addicts.... Not a good place for children.. Js
My friends and i have camped here about four times. We Loved it. Recommend camping out by the river if you like to be away from every one, more private. Camping by the river isnt a camp site fyi so youll have to look for a good spot. They say this place is haunted well dont know if its true but one time a girl kept walking up to were we had camped and would just disappear out of no were. Creepy but she seemed nice. She did talk to us in all. Anywho lots of fun.
The manager bill is the worst person to be in charge of the place. He is untimely and rude, If you expect hospitality, you are better off buying your own RV and taking it to the top of the mountain. I wish i could give this place 0 stars all thanks to park manager bill.

We only visit this place where we go ridding and stop to the cafeteria to have a break and eat something. The food is not good at all. But the people is very nice and friendly, we will continue visiting to take our break and a drink. I can not comment on the camp site because we never camp there.

Stayed in the hobbit house mini cabin in December and it was so delightful! Owners are nice and friendly, and looking forward to returning to get a campsite right by the river. The only thing is the bathroom showers could do with a makeover or cleaning up but not a huge issue if youre only staying for one night.

I go by the San Gabriel River to camp almost every year, sometimes we just go to the river to play in the water. The thrift store didnt have soap but they had body wash and when we needed to get our energy up it had what we needed. YES there is bears YES a lot of people go on Saturdays and Sundays.
