Legacy is a nice and decently maintained course, but the rangers are some of the rudest and most crotchety people I’ve come across in a customer service position. Nasty for the sake of it. Pro shop, bar and front desk staff are great and courteous. The rangers, however, could use an update. They follow and watch you like hawks for the first few holes and really set the round off in a poor manner. It’s as if they don’t feel like they’re doing their jobs unless they find a reason to harass and hound you. Hopefully new staff out there in the spring.

Had a great experience at Sweetbriar the two times I have played here. The course has a nice mixture of holes and was surprisingly well kept as far as the condition of the airways and greens go. The clubhouse is expansive and has great tasting food with prompt service.

Played 18 holes at Sweetbriar Golf this morning; our foursome completed in 4 hours, 20 minutes. Literally harassed three (3!) times by the rangers to pick up the pace of play. You read that right - we played 18 holes in 4 hours, 20 minutes, and got continually harassed for pace of play. We will never be back.We had a three-some behind us, I dont know if they complained or what. But they were never waiting for us. I suspect that when the rangers looked around the course, they saw nobody in front of us, with presumably a steady stream behind us, and so they ASSUMED we were holding everyone up. Our 6:40 am tee time went off behind a two-some, of course they finished early. Nobody was ahead of us when we teed off the back nine.Paid $60.00 each and could not enjoy a round of golf thanks to the harassing rangers. 4 hours, 20 minutes for 18 holes and harassed the whole way - pathetic.

Sweetbriar course was in terrible shape and very neglected. Hard to tell difference between fairway, rough, and cart path. Legacy looked nice, but Sweetbriar’s course was very disappointing - definitely went downhill over last couple years

Absolutely by far the worst course i have ever played in the cleveland area. its crazy that Sweetbriar is on the same land as Legacy golf course (Which looked exceptionally well maintained)Course scorched, cant tell rough from fairway. ive never written a review about anywhere in my life but was encouraged to by how awful my experience was

Sweetbriar course should come with a warning sign. It is getting worse every year - feels neglected.Legacy on tbe orher hand is a really nice public course in west side. The good - tees can an be played at good lengths depending on your skill. Fairways well maintained. Greens are great. Course is a esthetically pleasing. The bad - some of their starters shall we say....are rude. The play is super slow on most days. I have no issue with walk up tee times but if bob o link and other lesser courses can stagger tee times to 10 minutes, why cant Legacy? You need those extra 2 .minites to relieve some of the slow play bottleneck .

The Legacy course is a very playable course with very generous fairways and greens that are not tricked out. Even on this wet day they were fast. The rough is even playable. You can play this course and not lose any balls as everything is cut. Very scenic and the houses are well back from the playing area. I deducted one star ad they need work on the cart path. Too many chuckholes and other areas that need repairs.

I’ve golfed here for years and have watched it sink from “nice” to “mediocre” to”unplayable”. The fairways are completely burned out, with no grass to speak of. The areas around the greens are 30% grass, 40% weeds, and 30% dead spots. It appears that they have given up on maintains this course to drive golfers to the more expensive Legacy course that adjoins it. Don’t golf here!

Played Sweetbriar over the weekend with a buddy. Tee time was early afternoon. Pace of play was great. Staff was friendly. Clubhouse and restaurant were fantastic with a great atmosphere. As for the course, on many holes it was difficult to tell the difference between the rough and fairway. There was really no noticeable difference in cut length. Greens were good however. I imagine that they spend more time with the Legacy course which is to be accepted. Overall Sweetbriar is a great course to get a quick round in and will definitely be back to play both 18s.

Kevin and the guys inside have always been awesome to me ever since I started playing there as a teenager. The customer service has been great. The pro shop also has an amazing Labor Day sale every year that I highly recommend to all golfers in the area. It is not the cheapest golf course in the area, but definitely one of the better ones.

Sweetbriar is one of my top 2 favorite courses that Ive played so far. It is slightly challenging because of the ponds and creeks you have to hit over but this course isnt just for great golfers. The clubhouse and dining facilities are beautiful and overlooks both the Sweetbriar and Legacy course. The Pro Shop has an immense selection from clothing to clubs to gear. As far as the standard prices go Im not certain because while I shopped there they had their annual Labor Day sale which I ended up buying 2 dozen Srixon balls for just $30!

Great Food, Enjoyable and BEAUTIFUL, friendly atmosphere. I really LOVE this place. My only issue is, WHERE IS THE MUSIC, on that gorgeous back patio and fun bar area?!! In the summers of 2017 and 2018, they brought in small groups of musicians, and the patio was packed. Everyone LOVED and enjoyed the music. We heard the owner doesnt want to pay the royalty fees for music. I say, PLEASE, PLEASE re-think this decision and PLEASE bring back entertainment on that gorgeous back patio next summer!! I would be willing to pay a cover charge, just to have this wonderful aspect again. We went up every Friday and Saturday night when they had the music. Sadly, we are lucky if we go up a couple of times a month.

I golfed the sweetbriar side and the course is challenging but it needs more maintenance. The fairways are covered in various weeds and clover so there wasnt much difference from the rough. I wont be playing it again until there is some upkeep done...I will however play the Legacy side. That is a great course that is taken care of and worth the money. It can get a bit crowded but it is worth the wait. The restaurant and clubhouse are nice and have plenty to choose from. I will certainly play this side again.

Played legacy paid $39. horrible course. maintenance was so bad, green were so slow and so uneven (they said they did aerification 2 weeks ago). 2 weeks? what have they done ? Dead grass on almost every green. so does on fairways. Boulder Creeks, Fowlers mill, Pine Hills, Shale Creek are all cheaper than this horrible course. I played almost every courses in NE Ohio, this was second to last on maintenance wise (the last was Seneca 3 years ago before they re designed the course). I was so angry I waste my time there.

Price is the best around. Staff in house is awesome. However they should expect people to play slower when you can not drive the golf carts on the grass that adds time to your game per hole. It is not proper to tell golfers to play faster with the mud and water condition all over. I would suggest that on these kind of days where it is cart path only to space people out better.

On a beautiful and scenic golf course is this totally charming restaurant. With its winding drive and large, welcoming entrance, and what you might expect to find when you enter is even better than what you thought. A number of dining rooms, a dazzling vaulted ceiling, an expansive bar, and a curved wall of windows overlooking the greens. Afternoons are mainly for lunches of various salads, appetizers, hearty sandwiches and some entrees as well.Their dinner menu favors a greater selection of the entrees and all the sides, salads and apps that will appeal to just about every palate. In a nutshell, the food is really, really good; and for you coffee lovers, youre in for a nice surprise of a delicious cup of coffee too. Selections are plentiful, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the views are beautiful, but most importantly, the food is absolutely delicious. If you havent already been here then you simply must give it a try. Its one of the special treasures on the west side of town.

This combination of two 18 hole golf courses is pretty great for the Lorain area. I recommend that you use their tee times on the website, as youll be saving 25-50%. I prefer the secondary course Sweetbriar because it has what I expect from a course as far as challenges, diversity and scenery. The Legacy course plays a little more difficult and its fitted into a neighborhood, with upper middle class houses all around. Both courses are beautiful. The driving range only let us play off of a fake grass mat and we couldnt make any divots.

Course is nice, pace of play is not. The starters are sexist and rude towards women, lady golfers beware. Foursomes do not let twosomes play through and the clientele is quite rude and chauvinistic. Many players hit from the black tees as if they are pro golfers, barely making it past the womens tees. Starters do nothing to fix it, but wave hands in female faces. Good luck playing this course if you are a good golfer looking for a quick round without egotistical people.

Great time playing the Legacy Course at Sweetbriar! We found a great deal on Golfnow for a 6:40 tee time so we were the first ones out. The starter was very gracious in getting us started and out on the box immediately. This course rivals any country club in the area with tight, super thin cut fairways. Since it was so early (and a nice storm rolled through the night before) we didnt get much roll on good drives. The rough was lush but fair so stay clear if you wanna score well. The layout takes you through a scenic development so walking this course would be exhausting. The holes are guarded with mounding and a few bunkers, not much water around the greens except on #7 and par 5 # 14. I would highly recommend this course. I didnt get a chance to use the driving range but its right near the clubhouse so you could get a small bucket in before the round no problem.

This place is a joke. I’ve tried to play there three times now and each time I end up leaving with a rain check because It is simply impossible to finish a normal round here. The starters don’t have a CLUE how to do their job as each time I’ve played there one person tells me to go off one side and somebody else will tell me to go off the other. The maintenance crews were running several mowers on each hole while being played this last Sunday, with absolutely zero respect for players. One of them even ran over my ball! For $59 this is unacceptable. Everything is extremely wet every time I’ve played here and the rough was over 6 inches long. The legacy course seems nice from a distance but When you get on the greens they are SO soft that they are riddled with spike marks that never fade away so putting is basically a waste of time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE.
