Decided to come to this here this morning at around 10:30 with my 4 year old son as an alternative to the greenbelt which is currently closed-big mistake!! This place is hard to find-directions lead you to someones house-only found the trail because of someone elses comments in the reviews....there are no markers or signs to guide you. The trail is super narrow, rocky and covered in over growth and god knows what so was thankful we had long pants on. The trail is also lined with cacti (and also rusty barbed wire fencing in some places!!!) so beware if your little ones are clumsy because they are sure to trip on a rock and fall on one of them. After walking on this trail for 15 mins you finally come across a small cave which you are not even allowed to explore. There were also tons of mosquitos that were swarming us even though we were covered in big spray....could go on and on about how awful this place is. With so many great places to hike in Austin this one is not worth a visit. End rant.

Google maps will lead you into a neighborhood and tell you you’ve reached your destination in front of a house. Could see the park on the map but could not get there or seen anything that resembles it in real life.

Very nice easy walk. Park down Coastal Drive where there are open fields then walk to sw corner of field towards the fence. You will access an easy to follow trail which has 3 caves to visit. One is fenced off but the other two have a small crawl space that you can venture into. My 8 and 11 year old loved the exploration.....be on the lookout for fossils.

Beautiful little nature trail smack-dab in the middle of SW ATX. Birds, small critters and a well-marked hiking trail. Early mornings are the best!

It was a great hike, other than the creepy hidden cameras in the woods secretly recording us!!!

The caves are closed to visitors. The paths are disappearing. Wear sweats so your legs dont get contact dermatitis from the brush. No waste bins. Only once youre on the trail do you see a sign saying No Dogs. Might have been nice once; no longer.

This really isnt much of a trail. Its very short and rocky. You can look down into the cave openings but cant actually go inside. They put up some nice signs for kids. Theres many better trails and caves to check out in Austin.

A Karst is a landscape underlain by limestone that has been eroded by dissolution; producing ridges, towers, fissures, sinkholes, and other characteristic land forms. This is an important recharge section of the Edwards Aquifer. It consists of 4 caves, one of which is barricaded off as they want bats to return to living there. There is no benches, nor any amenities for that matter, at this preserve, hence the name of preserve since they will leave this land largely unchanged. That being said, if you are not a Geologist then this area will have very little entertainment value to you. Parking is limited to, at best, two spots and can be quite dangerous leaving if one is not paying attention. You cannot bring pets with you nor any other items, but then again, there is no park area here. It is a preserve and probably would better the less people that visited the preserve. Btw, Its Mosquito infested, Heavily. You have been warned.

Fun place for beginners to hike. There are three caves on site, one is surrounded by chainlink (for good reason), and the others have the entrances blocked so you cant explore very far inside. Trailhead is difficult to find, but there are brand new signs and a kiosk!
