It’s a beautiful place. You can even see a gorgeous view of downtown. The best time to visit is during sunset. When you walk up the stairs, there is a sitting/viewing area and you can see the sunset perfectly from there! If you want to catch the downtown view, go up the stairs and take a left and walk down the path!

Limestone stairs to a beautiful view. Theres seating and more trails once you make it to the peak. I only went to the right side where I found three picnic tables. Theres a little shade under the structure but prepare for heat to match the elevation. This is great place to take photos are just enjoy a snack and the view.

Stunning view from atop the mountain. Have a few trails around it which do give amazing views to the colorado river flowing along the mountain. Probably around 120-140 steep steps to get to the top.You get an astounding view of Austin downtown and surrounding areas to Austin from here.Definitely worth a visit. Plus you get to see nice houses built all around the area.

Mount Bonnell is gorgeous and has beautiful views of the river. It’s a short 5 minute walk up the stairs. There’s a very short path to the right once you get up the stairs. There is free parking below. We went early at 9am and it wasn’t busy. There seemed to be locals walking their dogs and going for a run.

Nice place to day-out in Austin. Beautiful location and hiking trails. View from the top is so beautiful. Must go place in Austin. Make sure you park you vehicle in the correct location and lock your car. You will walk about a mile to the hillside from the main road. No restrooms and water facilities. safety issues in some of the areas. keep eyes on your children and family when you walk around. overall a good place.

What a gem in these restricted Covid times! Mt. Bonnell has been a staple spot to bring out of town friends, family or to simply make the destination for a date night. We saw two girls perched on an overlook eating takeout, a bridal photo shoot, and many photographers. It’s the most crowded at sunset The only drawback is there were multiple parties smoking cigarettes and weed. If you’re sensitive to that, be cautious. Otherwise, just relax and sit back and enjoy the views! The stairs and rocks along the path can get a little slick just from years and years of foot traffic, so be aware of that also. This is truly one of the most beautiful overlooks in Austin— be prepared to be dazzled!

Beautiful view! Visited Austin for the first time and was told that it is definitely a go to tourist site. The stairs up are steep but not very long so its not bad of a walk. Many people brought pets or significant others. However for parents of young children, there is no railing/barrier except at the main site right off the stairs. However the real view is on the side so make sure to hold onto your children if they tend to wander.

Its quite the sense of accomplishment to make it up the stairs to the top f youre not in great shape. But know that there are places to stop and sit on the rocks after every set of steps if needed, so dont be deterred. If you prefer, you can also get to the top via a hiking trail past the stairs, although the view when using the trail as an exit is stunning so Id opt for the trail for descent (your back will be turned to the view during a trail ascent). At the top, youll see Lake Austin, million dollar homes, the downtown skyline, a distant bridge, nice boats/watercraft, unique birds/flowers/plant life, an expansive view of the Austin metroplex, and feel the tranquility that comes with taking in the beauty of Gods gift of nature. Theres also interesting info about the history and use of this limestone attraction at the bottom and top.And just in case youre interested, the are several picnic table areas to enjoy.

THE place to go for stunning ATX sunsets over the river! My boyfriend and I come here every now and then with the dog and find a spot to just sit in silence and enjoy the view. Definitely gets over crowded, so maybe try to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds, but then you want to keep in mind rush hour traffic. Kind of hidden in a residential area. Once you park, you can take a mini hike up to the viewing point either by stairs or up the trail. I get envious of the people who live in the houses along the river, but other than that, its spectacular! If you plan on taking pictures, youre likely going to be photo bombed by hundreds of other people trying to do the same thing.
