The good: the facility is new and very well laid out. Its a beautiful Range. Staff do their jobs well.The just okay: its not an easy place to get to being right off I35, so location and access isnt ideal as I35 is always jammed and under construction. Its expensive and I dont see the additional value paying a >50% premium over Reds ($16 for a lane at Reds, $25 at The Range).

Booked in last night, it was brilliant!Highly recommended to any one in the area - regular shooter or a tourist wanting a high end hands on!Big thanks to Jimmy for taking time to go over all the basics with us foreigners.Its a really nice, clean venue and friendly staff.Highly recommended.Hopefully be back in Texas again to visit.

Very nice facility. That’s the plus. Staff was very hit or miss. 3 were nice, one wasn’t and super unhelpful, 2 others were not helpful either. Was told they were not going to sell any more ammo tonight because they were running low? I think they just didn’t want to go find more. Also, not a single staff member was wearing a mask, and maybe 1/10 people were. I understand you kind of have to take them off on the actual range due to glasses fog, but it was almost a completely maskless environment, so be careful. Again, beautiful facility, but I’m going to try out other places around town instead.

What a great experience this was! 10/10 would recommend coming here! Ike was awesome, he showed me and my girlfriend the correct way of handling and shooting handguns and an AR-15. And the facility looks awesome!

I took the “Bring your own 9mm” course today and can’t recommend The Range and Travis enough. I arrived as a newbie and left feeling confident when handling my weapon. It was great having 1:1 instruction for an entire hour. Great customer service. Will definitely be going back!

Respectable, dependable, knowledgeable, customer caring, and very safe with fire arms in this place. My favorite indoor range so far and the price is more than right! Plan on keeping my membership as long as Im in the area. All staff is very helpful and is always open to questions.

This is a must do in Austin! Everything from the staff to the facility is 5 star. It was our first time at a range and these guys made it very enjoyable and educational. Kyle and Evan took care of us and they were both great! Evan has lots of great tips that really improved my shot. Kyle checked us in and was very professional and knowledgeable. Modern facility. Front desk staff always greet me when I enter the building. The Range has THE coolest gun display that I have ever seen! The selection of guns and accessories is outstanding.

Zero stars. Tried to reach out several times to secure a lane . Left messages and nobody contacted me. Then a coworker finally made contact. Couldnt get the needed time amd now wanna charge way too much for the lousy service. Definitely zero stars and wont be going here for any further business.

Took a New Pistol Shooter class here. $99 for 3 hours of focused instruction. About half classroom time that taught gun/range safety procedures and terminology. The other half was in the range itself with step by step guidance on stance, grip, safety, sighting and trigger pull followed by live fire practice. Very nice facility. Country club like feel. Jeff was great and I dont remember the other instructors name but he was great as well.They did a good job of simplifying the processes to safely and accurately fire my weapon and made me feel at ease the whole time. Ill be back.

This is a very nice, safe environment. It’s is clean, it has great climate control year round. 100 yard rifle lanes as well as a LOT of pistol lanes. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. Austin is fortunate to have such an incredible facility.I have to admit that I was there recently and when I got home, I was missing one of my firearms. I was positive I had made it to my truck with it but could not find it. I called The Range really on a Hail Mary because I could not fathom that I would have left it there.The staff searched for it and found it and called to let me know. So grateful because this pistol was given to me by my Dad back in the 70’s and he is not with Ilya anymore so I just want to say thank you to the staff at The Range for your integrity. I will be a loyal member for years to come.

I HIGHLY recommend going here!The facility is impressive and the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. My wife and I were fortunate to be assisted by Isaiah. Although it has been several years since we’ve been to a range, Isaiah went above and beyond as he instructed us and provided shooting tips. Nice facility, very expensive. Customer service can be hit or miss. Evan and Thomas were always very helpful though. Can be extremely busy on weekends so call before hand to make sure they have ammo. Had a membership here and took their online LTC class.

Nice facility, staff is nice enough. I’m a member and the value of membership is definitely something I sometimes question as I don’t really see much benefit since I wait on line essentially the same amount of time as non-members most times. I’ve rented pistols there a few times and that’s been disappointing. At least on 2-3 occasions the guns malfunctioned. When I asked someone to take a look at them each time they said the guns were all modified in some way- one had a different after market trigger that he said “has some issue”, the other was “probably really dirty so I’m not surprised it’s having some issues”. For what they charge to rent guns, I would have thought they’d have apologized and offered either a break on the rental fee or...or something. I thought it would be a nice opportunity to try out some guns I’ve been dying to try out, and then likely buy from them, but no such luck.Great facility; clean, all the bells and whistles, but for the cost of membership, things could run better.

As a female who is very new to shooting (second time ever!) my experience here was beyond exceptional.The professionalism, education, time taken & safety aspects were standout. I was able to comfortably ask any questions without judgment. It was also well priced, though I feel the service is more important.Many thanks to Kyle who was informative, helpful, professional, & personable. Also, thanks to Jeff for his advice at wrap up. This is the Taj Mahal of gun ranges. The staff is friendly, helpful, professional, and patient. The facility is sleek, modern, and clean. Hired Travis for an hour to show me how to use new gun. Had only had one disasterous lesson from a different facility prior to this. Travis reviewed safety rules, how to use particular gun, showed me how to properly hold, load, aim, and fire. I felt safe and pretty confident after my hour. It was also fun! Will definitely go back many times and HIGHLY recommend The Range!!!

The Range is a pretty solid place to shoot. The staff has always been friendly and responsible. It’s a very sterile environment, excellent for testing out new purchases and zeroing your scope. Unfortunately, the patrons are not always so. I had one fellow get upset that my gun was “too loud” and yell obscenities and shine a laser light on my target for the duration of the shoot. I’m not sure how the Range could change stuff like this but as a gun loving nerd, I get a bit uncomfortable around the aggressive bro culture that some people carry into the building.

Expansive inventory with knowledgeable staff. Great service, but the price for a one time visit is a bit higher than some of the nearby alternatives. I would recommend this location for membership interests and researching.Paid $120 for two people in a 25 yard range. 1 9mm 50 bullets, and 1 rifle 100 bullets rental.

I went with a group of four friends to have some fun on a Tuesday afternoon, we made a reservation online. I’ve shot before but not at a range and definitely appreciated the patience, safety, and humor of our instructor, Adam. Facility is very clean and I felt safe. Adam is on top of his game in knowledge and instruction. I had a ton of fun and enjoyed my time!

We held our rehearsal dinner in the Patriot Club at the Range. The patriot club is a clubroom upstairs, with 8 private shooting lanes, lots of great seating areas, a bar, and a cigar patio. I was iffy at first about having our rehearsal dinner at a gun range, but it exceeded any and all expectations. Even our non-shooters who attended thought the space was perfect and had a great time. People are still talking about how great the rehearsal dinner was. Theres also a large TV that people watched bowl games on. With the shooting, the tv, the cigar patio, the bar, and food that was had catered, there was something for everyone. It was exactly what we wanted - a nice upscale space with a casual, laid back vibe. Thanks to the range staff for making it a memorable night - especially Randy, Jess, and Alfredo.

This range is very clean, well maintained and well ventilated! If youre a regular shooter in the Central Texas area I would highly recommend checking out The Range. Please do check their calendar regularly and before you go though, they have regular classes and competitions and you dont want to wait around a couple hours because you forgot to check, speaking from experience...

Nice place.I had a good time. There was a bit of a wait to get a lane, even though I saw several empty lanes. Im sure they have their reasons. The employees told me the wait was a rare occurrence for that day and time. Better to wait a little than have more people with guns then the range personnel can safely oversee I should think. Range fees may be slightly above a few others in the area, but given the location, capacity, up to date amenities, general overhead to maintain an indoor range, and consistent hours of operation, its a small price to pay. Personally I had a great experience with the staff. I appreciated them letting me grab a few extra targets. (I normally bring my own, but this visit was kind of a spontaneous deal) Shooting 200 rounds into a single piece of paper isnt really my thing. Im trying somewhat to sharpen my skills. Its the little things like that, which matter most for me. One of these days when my ship comes in, Ill get a membership.

Frank did a great job with the LTC class. Fun and gave you the information you needed, along with stressing the responsibilities of a gun.

I don’t usually go out of my way to write reviews, but I felt compelled to because the Range was fantastic. My instructor was competent, confident, and caring, and he carefully walked me through the necessary technical and safety training. I have never held a gun before, let alone fired one, but I enjoyed the session and felt that I was in good hands. The place might seem a little pricey, but I believe that it’s worth it for the professional and prompt service. Thank you!

Took a handgun 101 class with Hank, he was fantastic! First time firing one and felt knowledgeable and comfortable by the end. Plus the place has the coolest displays & is super clean!

2 year member as are the rest of my family. Place was decent a while back. Lately? This place is not practicing social distancing or cdc advised guidelines at all, and as the son of 2 doctors and a current worker for Health and Human Services, I can say that that is appalling. Not one person here is wearing a mask or being careful in the slightest. Nobody cares how packed it is in there.My other issue? I just purchased a rifle and had it transferred through their ffl via their gunsmith. The weapon has been sitting in their warehouse for 3 days. The front desk nor the gunsmith office even answered the phone. Left a voicemail and never even heard back. What exactly am I and my family even paying expensive membership fees for? So, they’re gonna sit on a purchased gun for nearly a week when meanwhile people are breaking into gun stores as of late in the area. Ridiculous. At least call someone back. Cancelling our memberships now.

I went there this morning to sight in a new rifle. The staff were courteous and answered my questions in a manner that was unlike most indoor ranges I have been to in the area.I prefer to shoot outdoors, and have several options to do this locally but I like zeroing a rifle in a controlled environment.For those who prefer to shoot indoors, I highly recommend The Range.

Im new to the Austin area and I was lookin for a range to go shoot at. Luckily for me the Range at Austin is very close to me. I wandered in one day mainly only askin questions and all the staff was very friendly especially since they could tell I wasnt a regular. The range is a comfortable settin and Ive really enjoyed my experiences there when I do shoot and even have taken a couple friends to go shoot with me. I recently took private lessons with one of their instructors Jeff Rockwell and he was very professional and a great teacher. During our session I received his undivided attention and he never made me feel silly for how I used my pistol. He made corrections and taught me very useful techniques. I was shootin tighter groups almost immediately. Thanks to him I definitely walked out of our private session a better shooter.

This range sets the bar high for the Austin area. Reasonable prices, good atmosphere, and a staff of folks who are professional but not snobby. I have had nothing but good experiences here. I don’t always come in with a smile, but I always leave with one. Do not waste your time and money at sub-par ranges. Give your business to these folks, and I’m certain you’ll understand why any amount of time on the I-35 is worth getting a lane here. Don’t ever change a thing about this place, y’all.

This place is amazing! You cant come to Texas and not go to a range. Very safe, conveniently located just about 15min out of downtown Austin. One hour of practice will cost around 80 dollars for 2 people. Lots of fun!

Really great facilities. The gun shop looks like it will be amazing once it is finished. And they have some really great firearms for sale. But, this is not really the place for the common man to go. The range fees are incredibly steep! Even compared to similar high end ranges I have been to like in Frisco. The gun shop also is only really catering to the high end clientele. As much as I was impressed by the place and what they offer, I would probably only come here on a rare occasion due to price.

Very clean, well kept, modern facility. Tons of weapons, scopes, suppressors for sale as well. Mags and ammo available for purchase as well, though I recommend coming with your own ammo in hand.The staff is really friendly and safety oriented. Bill Go is a champ and is the guy responsible for teaching me the ropes with my handgun. Without that guy Id know nothing. My grouping is spot on after only 6 visits because of him. I still recommend taking one of the intro classes if you are a novice like myself, but the folks working the range offer a few tips here and there, as mentioned above. They wont be afraid to step in if it looks like you need help - AND - if you are receptive to said help. Ive noticed they dont just interject with strangers unless its a safety issue, which is nice. (Not bothered unless you want to be, sort of thing).Place is well air conditioned so the big bois wont sweat it out... haha. Ive never seen the place too packed, they have I BELIEVE 30 spots on the pistol range and have more on the rifle side, but Ive not been over there yet.Its $25 for an hour for non members, if you go frequently enough you should get a member pass, 500$ a year. That equals out to 1.67 times per month to get your 500$ worth. So if you even go twice a month, you are saving money. If you go 3 times a month, you are saving 400 dollars a year (25x3x12= 900 - 500 = 400There ya go. Best place around for shooting. Also Bill Go is the man.

Signed up for the online LTC, which was a bit messy as the confirmation email made it difficult to apply the code and start the course with the 3rd-party provider. Not a big deal, just amateur-ish. Move on to the course.After completing the online course, things went downhill fast when it came time for the range portion (which has a $25 additional cost).Get an email from Jeff Gonzalez, Director of Training, indicating they are doing the best they can to arrange the range testing given shelter in place orders and safety measures / processes around COVID-19.Thats cool, good to hear they are on top of it. Email states that pre-paid online signups will get scheduling priority, and will get yet another email to notify when the can range test can be scheduled.The catch? To get in, its pretty much first come first served based on order of replies to the email, to confirm the time slot options they give you. So you pre-paid, and you get what you get when you get it - IF youre pretty much standing by your email 24/7 for immediate RSVP - but NO guarantees. Of course, thats not disclosed at time of sign up and pre-payment, that would be too professional. The Range At Austin and Professional dont belong in the same sentence.So, with no idea when or if I can actually get the range portion of the LTC scheduled (after its already been paid for...), I find an independent certified instructor who books me for the next day. Totally professional, great experience, done and done.Call The Range at Austin, leave a message for Jeff that I already had the range portion taken care of and he can allocate my pre-paid place in line to another pre-paid applicant on the waiting list. I ask how they want to handle the $25 pre-paid fee for the range portion, and said Id be glad to use it toward a membership credit or range time when things settle back to (the new) normal after pandemic restrictions are eased.2 days go by, no response. I send a professional, courteous email to Jeff reminding about the phone message Ieft and ask how we wants to handle it. No reply. Sent another email reminder 2 days later. No reply. Sent a final reminder email 3 days later. No reply. Literally, just ignored.I understand many businesses are operating under duress in these times, and yet many others arent operating at all due to the pandemic restrictions. But for a business blessed with high demand due to those conditions, to completely ignore a pre-paid customer inquiry about a service you cant provide that customer is inexcusable. Jeff, you get an F. F for Jeff.

Was in town for a bachelor party. One of our goals was to fire guns. The Range is an absolute must. I set up the appointment in advance, very important b/c its a popular place and was packed when we were there.Randy assisted me in creating our package in which we had 4 bays and 4 guns. We could rotate our party of 7 for an hr. The cost came out to about $105 per person. Well worth it especially if you do not practice your 2nd ammendment.The safety instructors were patient and insightful. And the guns were badass. If you want to have a time with the guys this is strongly recommended activity. Thanks for the memories!

The place for training. Austin was patient, knowledgeable and very helpful with the private lesson my wife and I took with him. We both were thrilled with the experience he provided us and would not hesitate to return for more lesson or classes. A state of the art facility as well!

EDIT March 1, 2020I will leave the original text of this review in place to illustrate how a business can change and change the mind of a customer who was adamant about never going again. Because the staff at The Range have done exactly that. I heard from a number of people that the experience had become better. Skeptical I went in one afternoon because they were the only ones who had an item in stock that I wanted to look at. I was ready for the same experience I had previously but was surprised by friendly staff who took their time to help and answer any questions I had. I came back a few days later to give the range itself a try and I was met with politeness and professionalism. I have been back a few times since and have truly enjoyed myself. I can confidently recommend this store again and that makes me very happy.Another terrible trip to The Range. This may be the most modern place in town but its overpriced and the staff are always rude. Its my unfortunate luck that this is the closest place to my house. Ill just drive another 20 miles next time and be treated with some respect.

Clean restrooms. Membership available. Good parking. Located on the Northbound frontage road of IH-35 just South of William Canyon. Highly recommend this establishment. Non-member hourly rates are reasonable.

We stopped by to browse while we were on vacation - its was definitely a modern, clean and nice gun store. The staff there doesnt greet you and only came over to tell us basically not touch the guns if we are not looking to buy and to otherwise keep it on the wall. I understand that and respect that - but we definitely got the uptight and stuck up vibes from this place. Defender outdoors is a much better and friendly place!

Full disclosure: My wife and I have a membership.We discovered the Range At Austin a few months ago and bought a membership a couple of weeks later. We absolutely love the place and drop in for an hour or two at least once or twice a week. The store is as much a pleasure to browse and shop as the lanes are to shoot in.The staff is friendly, professional, and certainly willing to talk about or sell you anything on the shelves. While their prices on ammunition, accessories, and parts have led me to shop elsewhere for some things, my wife picked up a .22LR rifle at a very reasonable price, and I have my eye on a 6.5 CM that I likely wont go anywhere else to get.Non-members pay range fees that are more favorable to other places around Austin, and if you go shooting twice a month or more, membership is well worth looking into for 30 days of come and go as you please. The small fortune my wife and I save on range fees alone pays for all the ammo and targets in the month.Theyre not terribly busy often, but the rifle lanes can get filled up pretty quick when it does, i.e. Friday evenings. Fortunately, members can call ahead to reserve a lane. My complaint, and its not really a complaint, is that if I need to stretch a rifles legs a bit further than a hundred yards I have to go elsewhere...and spend range fees.

Went today for the 1st time early abt 11am. Awsome facility gentlemen at the entrance was extremely friendly and welcomed me being 1st time there even made quick conversation. The guys at the range check in line were quick and friendly too. No wait. A little pricier than other ranges but worth it. Will definitely go bck and possibly sign up for the membership.

I came here with a friend as a first time shooter - the staff were super friendly and professional and gave us a clear and thorough safety briefing. It also has a wide selection of guns on the walls for browsing.

You will spend more time waiting than shooting.I live about 40 minutes from this place, mostly due to the horrible location off 35 - but today was the last straw. Each time I have come here recently, the wait time was outrageous. I came in this last time and was greeted with at least an hour - closer to an hour and a half wait for the pistol range. Factor in travel time and it is even worse...why they chose to be right off 35 is something I’ll never understand.You will spend more time waiting for a lane than you would spend shooting. It is just not worth the travel to spend so much time waiting for a lane. They ask if you are a member when you get there, perhaps an overpriced membership will cut that wait time in half. Either way, not worth it.2 stars for a nice facility, but the facility is not worth the time spend sitting on your hands. Go to a different range where you can get more trigger time - that is what I will be doing from now on.

I went with a friend for the full auto machine gun experience on a Groupon voucher. Everything was top notch and safe, which was our #1 concern, having only shot a handful of times before. Everybody in the facility was friendly and answered all of our questions. Juan helped us with our experience and was kind, attentive and very professional! Monica helped us with our second rifle and was also excellent. You can tell the staff is very knowledgeable and wants you to have a safe and fun experience. We both loved it and want to go back next time we visit the area!

Great facility. Everything is clean, well lit, and well marked. Lots of staff to help and aswer questions and a huge selection of rental firearms. It was definitely worth the drive across town.

Nice clean facility with welcoming friendly staff and beautiful gun displays, but its overpriced.

My friend and I were amazed at the impressive layout, very nice displays, fair prices, and great lanes for shooting. The first time we went in, we were greeted and given an introduction to the range and everyone was been friendly and helpful as they have been every time since. Even though I live in NW Austin, it is worth the drive and I enjoyed it so much that I got a membership.Yes, it gets busy on the weekends and lanes fill up fast so it is best to get there early or come later in the afternoon, but I have never had to wait very long to get a lane, even before I became a member.

Friendly staff and extremely clean/modern facilities. This place gets a lot of traffic on their 25 yard ranges, so you might have to wait for that, but it’s usually not bad. As for the 100 yard range, I’ve never had to wait, as not many people frequent them. It’s really nice if you’re looking to concentrate on accuracy/zeroing a rifle.

Great place to shoot and to purchase guns. Jerry the sales manager was very thorough and explaining pros and cons about each firearm we were looking at. We also never felt pressure to buy. As well as Josh was able to show my daughter how to grip and properly shoot a gun to make her feel comfortable. They have an amazing staff and I will be back soon. Great Customer Service

Just went for the second time and, as before, got excellent service and answers to all my questions. Range is new and fresh, not cramped and claustrophobic like some others down in South Austin. System to control the target placement was modern, digital and easy to use, the ventilation and fresh air circulation was Excellent! Brought 4 pistols of my own but saw they rented a Sig P320 RX (the one with a factory red dot) and loved taking that for a 100 round spin too. Overall a 5 star experience. If you have been to the Mission Ridge in San Antonio - this is that same kind of super elevated outfit like that location is. Treat yourself and see how Good GOOD can be!

Took two friends from out of town here today. It was our first time at a gun range and couldn’t have had a better experience. The staff were extremely helpful, particularly Bill who walked us through everything and helped us out throughout our time on the range. Legend!

Love this place! I recommend it to all my friends and family (including police and fire). The building is really nice. I gave 4 stars because I come here specifically because they have a separate rifle range, and I have some sensory issues that make it difficult when people shoot them right by me at most indoor ranges. Usually its fine when I come but yesterday the person next to me was shooting a rifle between me and a concrete wall and I had difficulty. I know there is probably a system or they dont require them to only shoot out there, so I understand. Otherwise, I love it and the staff are always cool and knowledgable. It can be expensive but if you bring your own gun and ammo its really not bad. Id come every day if I could.

I don’t have much experience with firearms but we really had a great time. The staff was surprisingly helpful and friendly. A guy named Austin was particularly knowledgeable and very helpful. I figured I’d come here once and never be back but thanks to his friendliness and know how I think I’ll be back for sure.

Brought a group here for a bachelor party. Most of the group had little to no shooting experience. The staff was awesome and we had a really great time, while also feeling very safe with their help and guidance. Would definitely recommend for a group event!

My wife and I had a lesson with Austin Black at the Range at Austin. We are both novice shooters and Austin made us feel comfortable during the entire experience. The facility was very clean quiet and comfortable. Mr. Black knows his guns and the proper techniques of training. If he could make my wife feel comfortable he can make anyone feel comfortable. I cannot recommend Mr. Black or this facility enough. Our experience was most rewarding

The Range was an amazing range. I took a group of 18 guys here for a bachelor party and it couldn’t have worked out any better. Alfredo was outstanding. He was very nice and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We had people with us that have shot several times and some that never have at all. The other staff members that supervised us were outstanding as well (my apologies as I do not recall their names). I personally have been to many ranges and this was hands down the best and friendliest I have been to. Thank you so much that made this event a huge success!

Really fun and we enjoyed it, we were group of three and we paid for lane, all costs 140 usd for three for one hour, cost can vary based on selection. If u r visiting the US, it does require nothing but bringing your passport with you.

Every little boys (grown men) dream come true store. The facility is state of the art and the staff is awesome. If Austin and Travis are there still....then you will be in good hands. They have great insight on how you can improve your skills or lack there of.

It is well lighted inside. The staff is friendly and helpful. I feel safe.Downside, I dont care to have someone firing a high-powered rifle in the next lane. Please put the rifle shooters in another section.Another downside, not The Ranges fault is, there is only one road to enter and depart. By this I mean, you need to arriving through Slaughter Lane and when departing to drive to William Cannon. It would be nice to have another road between the two major roads in order to have a shorter less congested drive.

Great range with great employees. Top notch with state of the art technology. Give them a try if you’re a local or visiting Austin for the first time!

Best indoor range in Austin. The guys there are all very knowledgeable, professional and friendly as well. They take range safety very seriously, compared to some other places Ive been to in Austin. The building is also extremely nice and lots of room to shoot

Clean, air conditioned, well stocked. Only complaint is I wish the large rifles could be grouped in separate lanes from small pistols. Was trying to teach my Mother in law and the large rifles were not helping calm her nerves, but hey.. it’s a gun range.
