One of my favorite places in town! East Side Pot Shop is such a special and beautiful place, facilitating folks to come in and fall in love with clay. The owners are incredibly knowledgable and so very kind! Theyve also been super covid-safe and mindful of the safety of every student and staff member. This is an amazing and unique studio!

Ive had the honor of learning ceramics here and its one the best most creative studios in Austin. Scott uses science and creates glazes with a lot of effort and thought and Rebecca creates the most beautiful handbuilt pots. Together with their teachers and assistants theyve got a great setup!

This is such an amazing pottery studio. Scott, Ryan, Rebecca, and Keegan create such an amazing experience, from learning the basics, to getting support for getting the desired shape and color, to receiving direction in developing an esthetic. They incorporate a superb mix of formal instruction, a watchful eye to help when in need, excellent feedback to improve the next piece, and copious hours for practice and experimentation. The members of this studio made throwing such an amazing experience and have sparked a passion for pottery I’m continuing. What an amazing part of Austin this studio and you all are. I’m so appreciative to have been able to start my pottery journey here. Would recommend even to my enemies! Thanks again Scott and Ryan!!!

If you have ever wanted to create anything out of clay or try throwing some clay on a potter’s wheel you have to go check out the East Side Pot Shop. The studio is conveniently located in the East Side of Austin and is right next to Armadillo Clay. It is easy to get to and super convenient to get clay and supplies next door. The classes are led by Scott Proctor who has over 10 years of ceramic instruction experience. The classes are kept to a small number of students and are great for beginner and experienced students. Scott demonstrates new skills and techniques each week and works with each student to help them at whatever skill set level they are at. You do not have to have any clay working experience to take classes at East Side Pot shop. The classes are a friendly and supportive environment that encourages you to make whatever you like. There are also a few other experienced artists that help out. They are super nice and excited to help you excel in your journey of creating ceramic pieces. East Side Pot Shop provides all the tools you need for the class so the only other cost is the clay you use. You can buy clay from Armadillo as East Side Pot shop doesn’t require to buy clay or any supplies from them. The studio itself is a wonderful place to work. It has a mix space of gallery and work areas. The outdoor court yard is a beautiful place with lots of amazing works displayed. The work studio is always kept clean and is laid out so that it’s easy to work in and comfortable to use. There is plenty of room to work in the studio and it is a comfortable place to make some art. It is really a blast to work at the studio and I personally love being there.I personally LOVE the classes at East Side Pot Shop and recommend you check out the studio.

I stopped by to pick up a piece from the Artist in Residence but had a chance to meet the owners, Rebeca and Scott, plus get a tour. The whole environment is friendly as were all the ceramists/potters working there. If I decide to give clay a try, this would be the place.

This a great ceramics teaching studio. Its well supplied with throwing wheels and supplies, hand building tools, and a variety of glazes to boot. You just have to bring you own clay. Scott is an awesome instructor. I learned more in 5 minutes working with him than an entire 8 week session elsewhere. Hes engaged, knowledgeable, encouraging, and laid back. Its clear hes passionate about teaching ceramics, loves to field questions, and loves to get his hands dirty and demonstrate. But on top of that, hes incredibly skilled and rescued multiple near failures for me so I could keep practicing and learning. If youre any level of student, this is a great place to go to hone your skills.

I love going here. Scott is a fantastic teacher who challenges students to continue to grow their skill set. I have been to other studios in Austin, but the environment and guidance at East Side Pot Shop has been by far the most encouraging. Scott focuses on every students individual growth and the work being produced by the students in this studio speaks for itself.

Working at East Side Pot Shop was such a great experience and one of the more rewarding studio times I have had in a long time. Scott was soo generous with his knowledge and really helped me focus my time while in the studio when I came to him with a project idea, and limited time. Everyone there was friendly and helpful, the work coming out is beautiful, and the studio itself is a pleasure to work in. I look forward to the next time I’m back in Austin with time to work or take a class.

Finally! Austin NEEDED a place like this. It’s an accessible, relaxed and very inspiring space to work. The proprietor, Scott Proctor, is full of clay knowledge and so very generous with sharing what he knows and loves. Thanks so much, Scott, for birthing and sharing East Side Pot Shop! She’s a beaut! And I feel lucky to be a part of it!

ESPS has totally developed my ceramics practice. From the basics of wheel throwing to more complicated methods of hand-building, Scott is always supportive of students ideas. As a hand-builder myself, I have almost mastered coil building, and I came here with absolutely no experience. Then, I told Scott one of my ideas for a sculptural piece and from there my hand building practice has totally evolved. The classes are fun, the atmosphere of the space is inspiring because you are surrounded by ceramists who have all different experience levels and techniques. Also, the glazes are amazing!! You have so many options!! Overall, this studio is basically a ceramists dream come true. Also its just a nice place to hang out in general (beautiful patio!).. and the fact that it is right next store to Armadillo clay is the icing on the cake. so happy we have this in Austin now!!!

After taking another class that resulted in a collection of failed, sad clay lumps, Im amazed by how much I learned on the first day at East Side Pot Shop. Scotts a natural teacher and I was turning out pot-looking pots on the first day of class! A beautiful space and a laid back studio full of knowledge, good music, and fun vibes, where questions are welcomed. Highly recommend!
