Excellent place to go and shoot. Lots of great people working that will make sure the range runs correctly, and safely. I would bring my family here. This is a great location to come if you are just learning to shoot, for the first time. There is also a lot of fun for us more experienced shooters. I absolutely loved my visit!A very scenic area, very close to the city. We love going to cherry creek to mess around with the family on the weekends. The lake is very fun, and always has a lot of other families. There are a lot of trails, biking areas, and hiking to do at this park! It is very popular place on holidays, so be prepared for a very long wait to get in, if you dont come early. Fishing, hiking, camping and shooting (at the range), are all great events you can partake in while at Cherry Creek State Park!

Cool place to which I will definitely return. Reasonable prices, friendly staff, safe environment, and you can shoot anything from archery to rifle to even tomahawk throwing. However, going to knock one star off for two reasons: 1) I couldn’t get into the pistol range even after waiting a half hour due to the line. Could have been 1,000 reasons but I think they were just slammed. Just makes me think about going back when there are other ranges to use. But 2) no one at any point reviewed range safety rules with me. To be VERY clear, I didn’t feel unsafe and their range safety officers are very attentive. However, I basically signed in and paid and was good to go. I’m an experienced gun handler like most people there but Im used to the quick third degree to convey guns are no joke. Would prefer they at least review when signing in. Otherwise, solid place I will come back to for sure!

If youve ever wanted to find out what its like to shoot at Disneyland, go here. I dont think the RSO stopped talking in the PA system for the first hour or so I was there. Let alone his rude remarks when people asked how long he thought until they could shoot, wHeNeVeR tHeY rUn OuT oF aMmOTheyll only let you out right after range goes hot, so youll have to sit there for 30 minutes twiddling your thumbs before you can put a target out. And god help you if you fire twice in less than 2 seconds, Ive never heard someone be so violently yelled at and ejected for something so minor.Range store was decent and staff were standoffish but moderately friendly. Sled rentals and spotting scopes were convenient. If youre Elmer Fudd trying to sight in your deer rifle, this is the place. Id avoid it if you want to have any fun.

Pistol range is decent, but I felt you got the worst of both worlds- no electronic target placement, but there arent enough target stands to go around, and the default is 12.5 yards, much further than most pistol shooters are aiming for. Also, you need to pay $11 just to get in the park, on top of the actual range fee.

If I could leave this post without stars, I would do it. It is unfortunate that this place is called family shooting center and is located in the Cherry Creek State Park...this center should be eliminated from this area and be transferred to a place where noise is not an issue. First, I am not sure that shooting should be considered as a family activity. Second, the noise that produces every day is bothersome to animals of the state park, people and families that go to park for tranquility and neighbors that live in the area and to isolate from the citys noise. I really dont understand why this place is located here. It should be re located to an area where noise is not an issue, distant from the park, animals, families and homes

I hope someone from management reads this review. I went to Family Shooting Center with a friend of mine on 3.12.20. we were greeted with a very blunt and sour attitude when the cashier asked what we were doing knowing we had equipment obviously to participate at the range. We asked about prices and targets and were were given a total price that doesnt include itemized services. As we approached the range we read all the signs following appropriate rules, eye protection area, ear protection area ect. We were escorted to our lanes and as I stood patiently waiting for instruction the range attendant had said Cmon now were burning daylight. Playing connect-the-dots I realized he was waiting for me to put up my targets before allowing anyone to shoot as it was that interval target time. (Which is safe none the less) he had disappeared as I mindlessly tried to find out how to get around inside of the range to hang my targets with no sign. A fellow attendant kindly pointed how to get inside. None of the rules including rapid fire (which entails firing more shots without waiting a total of 1 second between each shot) were disclosed to me or any other attendant initially. Each time a rule was broken the employee would tell at the participants robotically in a hateful manner without mentioning why the rules were in place. It is obvious safety is the number one priority at any range but this was the lowest customer service Ive ever seen. The range itself was in a clean manner and enjoyable. The employees here need to be replaced. The only reason this location deserves a 1 star is solely due to the fact the range and lanes itself were in good condition.

Aside from not being able to rapid fire my experiences here have been great. They were cool with an ak pistol being shot on rifle side using my brace how I want to use it. This place has a great 50 and 100 yard rifle section. They even have a couple longer range lanes. I Think the pistol range only has one distance for targets to be set, if you only want to shoot pistols then you might have more fun at an indoor range with adjustable targets etc. But at most indoor ranges you pay by the hour. Here you can stay all day if you want. You do have to pay 10$ per car to get into the park first. I recommend getting there when they open in the morning because it gets crowded around noon on the weekends.

I rented a .22 LR today that did not function. I notified the range safety officer of the issue and he said that happens often with that gun. I then requested a refund for the rental since I had spent $97 dollars for 30 mins of range time, which I was not able to fully enjoy due to the gun rental not working properly. The manager was so rude and disrespectful to me when I politely requested a refund for the gun rental. I have never in my adult life been treated so rudely and disrespectfully. Fantastic range; safety forward but still nice RSOs, very clean, great instruction if you want to take a lesson, its pretty great all around. It was my dedicated shooting range for the 2 years I lived in Denver. The only cons I would give it would be that I wish there was at least a 200 yard range but I also see how thats not very viable for the location, also you cant practice double taps or any firing faster than 1 second apart, but from a few of the RSOs Ive talked to the last few times I was there it seems they may try to get double taps to be allowed. All in all, very good range, at least the best outdoor range in Denver in my opinion.

The RSOs are professional and courteous, they may seem rude to the first-timer who walks over the yellow line accidentally (I was wearing hearing protection and thought he said to set up at the window) while the range is cold and gets yelled at, but thats meant to keep us all safe.Besides that the staff is extremely skilled and ready to help you with your shooting, I brought my son there to learn how to shoot and his experience has been very positive (keeps nagging me to go again). Basically the only downside is the no rapid-fire policy but Im sure theres a good reason for that.

I havent been to this range for probably 30 years. I was delighted with the upgrades to the range and how its setup.Im also very impressed by the range officers as theyre Johnny On The Spot for range infractions. Theyre not rude (despite what the 1 star reviewers say), but firm and fair. I think negative reviewers misinterpret quick and fast action to pounce on an infraction as rude (its not). And they have to be, simply because its a public range with all manner of shooters of varying experience.Former military will find the range rather laid back compared to what theyre used to, whereas home taught shooters might find it strict without understanding why. Last week I took my neice whod never held a firearm before to give her a lesson, and being former military myself there were a couple of times I was pounced upon or tapped on the shoulder for infringing what many would interpret as a minor infraction of the range rules, but I didnt begrudge it because the ranger officers were correct. Firearm accidents dont typically happen from one single mistake But rather they happen after a sequence of multiple infractions accrue and take place in horrid results. Any range officer worth his/her salt will ensure that each and every infraction is squashed immediately. The range officers at the Family Shooting Center are on it. Which is why Id recommend this range to anybody wanting a safe place to take new shooters. As well they will reinforce correcting the bad habits of veteran shooters whove grown lax.The 1 star reviews should probably be ignored. All of the negative reviews seem to hold a common thread... and that theyre shooters who wish to be left alone to their own devices. Which is the LAST thing range officers should do. The staff at this range know what theyre doing.

Cool, friendly place to shoot. Good selection of rifles to rent. If it’s not busy the range officers might offer you some tips to help your shooting if it’s obvious you’re new to shooting, like I was. I’d bring my own targets, ammo (if renting you need to buy their ammo to feed into the gun) etc, lane price is $17.50 for basically as long as you want. I’ve stayed there for 2+ hours on a Saturday and was never told to hurry up or anything, and it was very busy. Target changes are every :30 and :00 of the hour, try to time your arrival right before then so you could get a target up and start shooting. If going on weekends definitely get there very early. The waiting list becomes quite long. All in all a solid range and I’ll be going back plenty of times.

Living in Wheat Ridge, this range is worth the drive. Having a 50/100 yard rifle range, separate pistol and shotgun ranges, and from what I saw even some archery targets, you have tons to do here. The price is very reasonable and you can stay for as long as you want, unlike most indoor ranges in my area. Ill definitely come here as much as possible. The only downsides are that you have to pay for both the range fee and to get into the state park if you dont have a pass, and neither the park booth or range takes AMEX. Great experience on shotgun side. The staff at auto trap were friendly and helpful with some new shooters we brought. Staff is okay on pistol side also. The range is set up safe however with the high volume of people and the way everything is set up, it makes it difficult to shoot. The stand down for target change happens every 30 minutes. There is a line clearing, then waiting for everyone to be safe, target change and start shooting again. This process takes about 10 minutes, you really only can shoot for 20 minutes. They do not set a timer for 30 minutes so it seems really quick for target changes. It is less apparent on pistol side..

Used the archery range for about 2 hours and enjoyed the facilities. They have 8 or so sturdy hay bail targets which can be moved anywhere from 10 to ~70 yards. The back stop is very effective at stopping missed arrows and they keep the grass short so you can easily walk around and find stray shots. $6 for the range was reasonable for being able to shoot at those distances and for the amenities offered. It was ok . The guys are sort of needlessly confrontational. I told the guy this is the 1st time Ive shot skeet and Ive never owned a shotgun before. I walk up and he tells me to take my shotgun out of the case. So I did and he stares at me for 10 seconds, then gets an additude and tells me to point it twords the sky. Everything Ive ever seen on TV shows people pointing their shotgun to the ground and I told him of my inexperience before I took the damm gun out. Then he kept making comment that we only brought out 200 shells for shotgun....like look here jerk I got a truck full of guns to shoot today..200 rounds is plenty. I didnt pay all this money to be judged. I will not return here. Also no rapid fire on pistols and rifles. You have to wait 1 second between shots..which trains you bad habits for self defense. I live 10 min from a free open range with clay launchers that reopens may 1st. And anyone can go to the national forest or BLM woods and shoot how you want for free. Save your money and buy more ammo, dont pay these jerks. $30 to shoot plus $10 to get into the park.

If I could give it less than one star I absolutely would. Went to shoot archery. Paid my $6 and went back. I shoot a 70# bow. I had an arrow go through every target. They had two different types and it went straight through all of them. Their distances were also off. 50 yards actually ranged to 54. 30 yards ranged to 32. I ranged their posts that mark each distance not the targets which are movable. When I went to the office they called me a liar. I cannot believe a business would do that to a customer. I offered to show them that their targets could not handle any arrows other than a small childs bow and they refused to allow me to prove it. I would highly recommend going elsewhere if you want to actually shoot a bow rather than spend your time searching for an arrow. What a joke.

Had a great time and was the first time I using my rifle. Staying behind the yellow line when a cease fire is called is big deal and you should never cross it or else you will get a ear full by the range safety officer which I heard. The wait was about 30 minutes for rifles and longer for pistol which was expected since it was the first nice Saturday in a long time. The only thing I would change is have a place for rifle and pistol. The RSO was even nice enough to help me zero in my new scope. Was definitely one of my favorite ranges of all times.

Very nice, rifle lanes are all covered with a large roof, they have nice step blocks for gun rests, site scopes at each booth, staple guns to mount targets, ran well and safe, staff was helpful. I am sad I didnt come here before. I will be coming back.Thank you to any and all Vets!

Getting there is hard, you have to pay to enter the State Park Property and then pay to come to the range and wait in long line for hours. They are super safety Nazis out there you not allowed to have fun shooting, I would rather take extra drive to National Forrest or to Dragonmans where I can feel like an American and enjoy my firearms. Save your time avoid this place.

Basic setup for an outdoor range. It is totally adequate but for the price it would be nice to have more. The ranges are fixed distances which will limit your practice opportunities. The staff is very friendly and professional. During one of my visits the rifle range caught fire and they were quick and calm to mitigate it. Its nice to be outside for shooting. The pistol/rifle range goes cold every 30 minutes for target changes -again, for the price, carriers could probably be added for the pistols at least.

After visiting the shotgun and pistol range, I can agree with the other reviews about the unfriendliness and arrogance of the staff. The guys behind the register were reluctant to give any details about rentals or receive any feedback about the range conditions. They seem much more interested in making themselves feel superior to beginner shooters. The RSOs were very friendly, however. If only the other staff wasnt so bad! I would recommend The Shootist or Colorado Clays over this place!

A lot of talk by others but I found the staff to be overwhelmingly interested in helping and assisting, beyond the expected norm. Its why I keep going back. First time shooting a long gun in a long time can be intimidating. The staff made it an awesome experience. Thanks all

Great all around shooting. Archery, skeet, trap, shotgun target pattern, pistol, tomahawk throwing, 50 -100 yard range for rifle and gun rental. To top it off they have a great food truck.

First time on this range. As all shooting establishments, they have set protocol and youd best familiarize yourself with the house rules. The range officers were great, and available to answer all questions. They also adhered to the rules and maybe barked a little when someone inadvertently stepped over the yellow line in cease fire, etc. Will go back, I like when rules are expected to be met.
