Due to pandemic, I really havent visit Fernbank this year. I just renewed my membership and its well worth it, if you have a family and you live in Georgia theres always activities going on for children from preschool all the way to high school. Adult night give you a different vibe to hang out with friends. Join Fernbank today, it will pay for itself after one visit or two.

Ive photographed a couple weddings at Fernbank and its truly one of the best venues in Atlanta. Ive shot over 150 weddings across the southeast and this is one of my favorite locations. The amount of creative space both inside and outside to work with in making portraits in almost unending. Also, its just a very classy environment. I hope to photograph another wedding here soon! - Chris Jones

This place was AMAZING. I had a fantastic time going through history and science in this beautifully laid out museum. Dinosaurs, sea creatures, 3D movies, cafe are just a few things you will see here. Fun for all ages, wheelchair accessible, special days for special auditory sensory needs, I can go on and on about the awesomeness of the Fernbank. I can not wait to be back. The housing surrounding the museum is beautiful as well as the artwork displayed in little 5 points. Fantastic.

This is a great family outing during the pandemic. We purchased a family pass so we take the kids 2-3 times a month. The exhibits and forest walk keep my kids engaged and excited. My family really enjoyed our visit to this museum. Every exhibit was educational, interesting, and fun. My kids favorite was the dinosaur exhibit. They were so amazed at the various dinosaurs they saw. They thought that every aspect of the dinosaurs are made from actual fossils. My favorite exhibit was the display of cultures from around the world on the second floor. I was pleased that the kids were able to see how others live and dress. We will definitely take them back. A mask was required and social distancing.

Staff was friendly and there were fun things for the kids to do. There is a beautiful nature trail and nice playground with water feature for the kids to play with. The building has some water damage and needs repairs, you can tell it is long overdue for some TLC. Fernbank is making a valiant effort at keeping things as normal as possible for people, and we will continue to come back.

This place has large display of dinosaurs Skelton in front with different expeditions on different subjects. Well made but they need to do something to attract public interests and excitement to see things and read the details. Staff was pretty nice and food was good too. They need to create some strategies to make audiences happy cos at one point you loose interest. Many spaces were empty when we visited. Animals sculptures are nicely made. It has a big network of trails at the back,so beautiful,so dense and few wooden art work looks great. Fee is quite high if you’ll take it separately but will work if you had a city pass. Kids will enjoy this place for sure.

We have been in Atlanta for a long time now and it took a pandemic for a visit to Fernbank. We were there on Labor day. They have the system down pat with masks mandate and social distancing. Some of the programs are not open because of the pandemic. However, the current exhibits are good. We loved the culture exhibit and the all the information about the Fernbank dig. We also enjoyed the nature trails. I was a bit apprehensive about the forest trails since there were warning about stinging insects and poisonous snakes(but come on, its GA and its a forest) . However, it was a nice day to walk in the shade and enjoy the nature.

I love the Fernbank Museum, but I do have one qualm. The second floor exhibit on the evolution of wildlife in Georgia and Dinosaurs is incredibly outdated. The videos used look like they were shot in the 90’s and the models and paintings are faded and don’t represent how newer museums depict dinosaurs. The newer exhibits are great and interactive, but I do wish they would update the second floor.

Last stop on our five year olds birthday road trip was to Fernbank Museum. She wanted dinosaurs and I came across it in my search. WOW! The detail in ever single display was phenomenal! We have been to a lot of museums in the past five years but this one is probably the favorite! There is something for EVERYONE! The kids room is AMAZING! The trails outside had so many small details youd easily walk right past if you werent looking. I could spend the whole day out there. The traffic wasnt too horrible right around the museum, the staff was super sweet, clean facilities, really nice gift shop and the movie (the few minutes that my two year old actually let me watch) looked really good. My only complaint was that I wish we had more hours the day we went. ️️️️

Rope bridge, just closed nature quest to build a STEM center, beautiful indoor play area where kids can explore freely. A walk through time displaying the evolution of Georgia and its inhabitants, with a standing dinosaur exhibit. Special exhibits change about 3 times a year and are always an interactive learning experience. Affordable dining- sandwiches, soup, pizza, nachos. Not especially vegan friendly, but vegetarians and pescatarians can find something they like. Two souvenir stores, one near main entrance/exit, and a smaller one that reflects the special exhibit. There was so much to do and see in our visit to Fernbank. The convenient and free parking is a rarity for an Atlanta outing. Exhibits greet you both outside and in the lobby. The gift shops offer so much from a $3 gift on up. My 8 year old and I meet a friend and her children there. Our boys, 7, 8 and 9 has a ball the outdoor play area in the back was a big hit as well as every floor and exhibit. My friend renewed her membership while there and I thought $170 was a bit pricey. She said it was worth it. Even lunch was a learning experience with a lovely lady playing the piano and happy to point out to inquisitive minds the inner workings of the strings and hammers of the piano while she played. My son was mesmerized by this. I’d definitely go again since my son loves science but would look for a less expensive membership.

This place is awesome! Took my 5 year old and 22 month old. Kids 2 and up will love this place as it’s geared toward toddler and up. There were so many areas to explore that we spent 3 hours here and didn’t even get to everything. They had a morning story time and an afternoon craft (decorating binoculars for bird watching) which is included in the entry fee. There’s plenty of science areas as well as natural history. They have staff at carts explaining fossils and bones which is really fun for kids. The food is reasonably priced, yet so-so in taste. Convenient if you are there for a few hours. They do allow you to bring your own food and drink as long as you eat it in designated areas. The staff was very helpful and nice (they seemed to enjoy working there). We ended up buying a membership because we will definitely be back.

It was a cool experience but not much different from any other science center. Rather expensive too! We thought it was free and you just paid for the shows. That is definitely not the case. We still went and we were able to stretch out the experience especially since we paid about 80.00 for 4 of us. I was going to get the full 80.00 worth. My kiddos loved the outdoor adventure. This is a great place to spend the day. There are small indoor exhibits/ videos of many different kinds: force, night sky and the formation of the galaxy, archaeology, tectonic plates, a native American dugout canoe, culture exhibit, bird exhibits and of course the beautiful central gallery with the Argentinosaurus and Giganotosaurus which is really impressive. There is also a very nice and accessible outdoor exhibit/ forest. Currently they have Halloween sculptures scattered about the grounds that must look great at night, but we even enjoyed them during the day. The walking is easy, mostly along a boardwalk, some easy trails in the forest with signs identifying trees. I would imagine that during normal times this would be a solid 5 star museum, but some exhibits were closed due to Covid understandably. Meals were required and plenty of hand sanitizer was available. We went on a Thursday and it was not busy at all. Parking lot less than 1/4 full. My only criticism was that the 2 presentations were kind of short. The experiments were done in minutes, and although we were able to enjoy them, they were not repeated for those who arrived a few minutes late. And the animal presentation was only 2 animals and lasted 5 minutes including questions. They were a little disappointing when you plan your day around being at a presentation. We enjoyed our day overall.

Its a great first time experience but once youve seen everything, theres not much else to look at. It will take about 6+ hours to see everything (excluding the movies). They do have a special exhibit that they will swap out multiple times a year but everything else stays the same. We always have fun when we go. My grandkids especially enjoy both the indoor and outdoor playgrounds. You can purchase lunches there or bring your own picnic lunch and eat outside at tables provided throughout the nature areas. In the summertime, the outdoor playground has a great little man made stream with a small waterfall that the kids just love to play and wade through. The only reason I didnt give 5 ☆s is because their inside play area never seems to be updated. Things seem to disappear as time goes on with nothing new ever added. They really should pay more attention to the childrens areas.Of course, the dinosaurs are always a big hit! The nature areas are a beautiful place to walk through. Lots of wildlife for the kids to see. Best time of day to see the wildlife is in the mornings. Though their normal hours start atc10:00 a.m., but they often open their nature walk areas at 9:00 a.m. to take advantage of seeing the most wildlife.

I had always wanted to come here since I was young and just recently got the chance to go with my own children. We enjoyed the Gigantosaurus and the other large dinosaur skeletons. The pterosaur exhibit was excellent and the kids (and adults) enjoyed the interactive games in that section. The salute to the natural make up of the State of Georgia was a nice touch and the displays were well kept and nicely designed. Due to the weather, we were unable to enjoy any of the outdoor boardwalk areas as they were closed. It would be great if the museum would give the guests that come on the days that the boardwalks are closed a rain check to come back and finish seeing the facility. Its not quite fair to have to pay full price to see half of what the facility has to offer. I do think that the 3D movie was neat but should be included or at least a bit cheaper ($5 per person is the current fee). Overall, from what we saw, we very much enjoyed the museum and would recommend a visit to anyone near Atlanta.

I don’t know how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars. It was full, bright, and very clean! I spent 3 and a half hours inside exploring all of the exhibits with my family. There is a great walking trail that winds through the woods and along a creek. It was very easy to walk and can easily accommodate strollers if needed. The 3D movie about the Pandas was touching, very interesting, and very educational. Inside, we were happy to find an indoor play area that gave my child a bit of a break from reading information boards. It was clean and had several activities that kept her entertained for the 30 minutes we stayed. The shell exhibit was a favorite of ours and was full of beautiful shells from different species around the world. We learned a great deal about snails from a gentleman snail collector who was surely a first date. His lovely date was gracious and found his knowledge quite as interesting as we did. Although his tips weren’t necessarily directed to us, I did learn not to buy a turbo snail. This was a great experience and I am so glad we spent our rainy Saturday here.
