I can not fully express how distressing this fake ‘hula’ with stolen Hawaiian music is to the hula community in and outside Hawaii. Comments on their YouTube channel prove it. This goes far beyond cultural appropriation and is cultural arson. Hula’s legacy of countless generations was carefully preserved and passed down with specific steps, language, costumes and deep meaning. For this group to just make stuff up our of nowhere and mash it up with other cultures does actual harm to an ancient, proud and very serious tradition from a living culture you clearly know nothing of.In addition, the copyrighted music used in your videos and performances is the property of Hawaiian musicians including Keali’i Reichel and Mark Keli’iho’omalu.Can you entertain without misappropriating and diminishing other cultures, particularly the proud and very real living Hawaiian culture? For your sake, and the sake of your uninformed audiences, I hope so.This review is in regard to all the fake hula performed by this group, but is not a review of any other part of their operation, because I don’t know anything about that.
