I love that this is in the old asylum. It has a very interesting vibe. I wish the displays had a bit more to do with the history of the asylum or psychology in general. The displays are all kind of random and non-topical but still enjoyable. They do have a bit of a section up front on the right after entering that has some stuff on display about the building itself. I liked that.

The Kennedy Museum is a unique art museum in the fact that resides in the central admin building of a Kirkbride asylum. The museum only holds a few exhibits at a time, but is free of charge so is worth a visit.

I visited the Kennedy Museum of Art while visiting Athens, Ohio from Cincinnati with my fianée for Thanksgiving. My fiancées mother, who lives in Athens, took us to the museum on our first day in town. I loved the museums layout and was absolutely giddy walking through the special exhibition of collections. So, cool. I was also fascinated to learn the history of the location (a former asylum). I only hope the museum continues to grow and add more exhibits in the near future.

I will always love this place! Its a quiet, tucked away, fascinating museum. The exhibits change every few months so you can visit several times a year and see new things. Its also free (donations welcome) and they have a small gift shop area with t-shirts and books.

I have no doubt that this *will* be a fantastic place once they acquire more pieces to exhibit and complete the restoration of the building. As it is now, there just really isnt much to see. The grounds are fascinating, though - theyre a former asylum.

Not much to see here. Mostly just one or two small exhibits and blue prints of the original building. Can walk through the whole thing in a few minutes..dont do the ghost tour, the guide doesnt actually believe in ghosts and just tells personal stories from when he worked at the ridges. The stories are only funny or interesting to him as they are all personal quips between him and co-workers..

This museum is not a place for kids. Its nothing but a sex museum. Sex toys and nude pictures is not art. Need to put up a posting that states what it consists of so I dont have to try to explain it to a 6yr old. Very distasteful to say the least, and the University runs it, just goes to show what they are all about.

A very small yet impressive museum occupying the ground floor of the main administrative segment of the original 1874 structure, and one small hall of the second floor. The current exhibition included numerous paintings, historical collection pieces, and films, and is well worth the time to visit. Admission is free, but there is a small recommended donation. Allow about an hour for the museum, and another hour for The Ridge grounds, which are also worth walking around.
