You cant absorb everything in one visit. As you walk through after your initial visit, you see so much more. I love learning more and talking with visitors about their knowledge. People come for different reasons. Some people like the mystery and being transported back in time. There is something for everyone here to enjoy.

The Amelia Earhart Birthplace is a beautiful home overlooking the Missouri River. Once you enter the home through the front door, you can go on a self-guided tour of the home where various clippings and artifacts are arranged to tell the story of Amelias life and mysterious death. The tour costs $5.As far as the artifacts themselves, I thought it was a bit of a hodge podge. It was hard to follow the story and it didnt seem to progress in a logical way. There was a mix of historic artifacts and more modern stories. There were also some rooms where there were cards and stories written from aviators today to Amelia. This is the kind of place you should definitely check out due to Amelias impact on the world and the field of aviation, but you probably wont find yourself going back to.

Beautiful! Thoroughly enjoyed exploring the exterior of Amelia’s birthplace. What a view they had! The entire block is a piece of history. I was happy to have stopped while on a road trip. Unfortunately they were not open when I arrived, but if I enjoyed the outside as much as I did, you’re bound to enjoy the inside.

What a fun adventure we had learning about Amelia Earhart and touring her birthplace. We had a wonderful time and we will make the trip out again. Make sure to back a snack or lunch, there is a beautiful bluff that over looks the river.

There is plenty to learn at this well preserved childhood home of one of Americas pioneer women of aviation. The concierge was very helpful but could use a little more research about the museums name sake. She was unaware that Amelia saw her first airplane at the Iowa State Fair. *Gasp!*

Very interesting place. I just wish it wasnt in the middle of nowhere but if you happen to be anywhere close, you should go see it. They have all the outfits that Hillary Swank wore in the movie, Amelia, when she portrayed her. The house itself is really pretty with a nice view. While youre here, consider visiting the St Benedict Abbey one mile up the road.

My son and I visited this museum with our group of home school friends during a field trip recently. The home is beautifully restored, well maintained, and the staff is very knowledgeable. The home is full of history and information on the life of Amelia Earhart. I especially enjoyed the audio tour - using my phone to scan the QR codes in each room added a fun element to the experience. The students all seemed to enjoy the experience as well. Im really glad I was able to participate in this trip.

Wonderful museum overlooking the Missouri River in Atchison, Kansas. Amelia Earhart was born in this home and lived with her maternal grandparents from age 3-12. The home is furnished as it would have been in the late 1800s - about 1907. A must see!

My husband and I visited in July and loved the place. The lady who greeted us at the door was very kind and was able to answer any questions we had as we wandered freely through this magnificent Victorian home. Some of the clothing worn by Hillary Swank in the Amelia E. movie are on display, there is a large library of books about Amelia as well as many of her personal items. It was well worth the $4.00 a person and I will return. Thank you to the 99s and the city of Atchison for making this available to the public.

Amazing spirit in that house. Especially upstairs. My father said the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. I felt an added presence. I have not ever felt that way in a house before and dad and I are not into the whole ghoast thing. So not sure what that was. Walk througout self guided. There is a little gift shop. There is a cost to get in. Friendly helpful staff. The house was built at a high elevation overlooking the river so beautiful views. The home and stories associated with Aerhardts childhood shed a little light about the influences which helped shape her as a person, public figure and aviatrix.
