This is a wonderful place to bring your family and very dog friendly. The Fort is fun and the rangers share lots of great history. We signed up for the kayak tour, which was Ranger led and it was amazing. Thank you Mark! (Kayak tour is not dog-friendly).There are also multiple hiking trails. We did some video for our YouTube Channel (Modern Canine Vlog)

$10 admission (or $80 annual Passport to national parks card). Plan on 10- 20 minutes. There is a visitor center (nothing but a gift shop) & rebuilt fort (measures about 50 x 50). Maybe 3 interpretive signs. It is a Massive disappointment. Several walking trails 1/2 mile to 6 miles which are well-maintained.

The park was very well maintained. We went when it was not very busy which helped to make it a more enjoyable experience. The grounds were beautiful. Our kids liked the fort but we were sad there were not any presentations or tours. I know Covid is around but it was still a small let down.

For the history lover it is a wonderful place. The camp brings to mind how the American pioneers were a stoic bunch. No frills, just the basics required to get the job done. The park is interpretive and anyone can learn some American history which I think is important to understand today.

Overall: great history site, but not much to do.There is a $10 fee per adult and kids under 15 are free. You are able to walk into the fort and see what everything looked like, and the park rangers are well informed of the history, there is also a mile walk to see another history spot, but other than that there isnt much else and I finished it in 2 hours doing everything.

The hike is a good one. It’s around a half of a mile with occasional steep grade and down hill moments. The view at the top is a great one, with a chance to stop at the Lewis and Clark Interpretation Center and the Light House at the end. It was a pretty crowded trail when I went and some parts of the trail are hard to navigate when large groups come through. It didn’t effect my experience though. Take the hike and take in some views!

It was very enjoyable visit to this National Park. There are many trails to walk, run, or ride bikes and the trails are maintained very well. We enjoyed the exhibition that is put as it is an informative reenactment of days of old. The host was very knowledgeable and entertaining and envolved every one in attendance. He answered many questions that were asked by those of us in attendance. Excellent.

An excellent interpretive center showcases an amazing collection of period artifacts that tell the story of the end of Lewis and Clarks journey west to map the continent for the U.S. government. A genealogy of descendents is framed and posted, too. A re-creation of the original encampment based on Lewis and Clarks famous journals is a short walk away. Daily costumes reenactments are offered during the summer months and the week after Christmas.

Wonderful facility, long hikes and outdoor activities. Small museum inside the visitor center explains the history, the importance of the discoveries and cataloguing of many species of flora and fauna these two explorers contributed to.We choose to take the long hike from Fort to Sea, a 13 mile round trip, which we thoroughly enjoyed. There is lots to do for all activity levels. I didnt watch the movie but recommend it if not in a hurry.

I really enjoyed stopping in here to see the exhibits and the replica of the Clatsop Fort that Lewis and Clark stayed in when they were here. The trail down to the canoe launch was a pretty nice walk, but on rainy days like the one we were visiting on the boardwalk portion could get a bit slippery with the wrong kinds of shoes. Also, while we were here there was a black powder rifle demonstration which was both educational and entertaining. I would recommend stopping in to check out a bit of history.

Wonderful hike, mostly shaded which was great for us, really interesting to see the terrain shift as you go along the trail. Hug your national parks people, they are doing an incredible job of reforesting. You really get a visceral understanding of what this means for the ecosystems. So fun to walk with the cows for a bit, too! We parked a car on each end so it was 6.5 miles total with an extra .6 at the end to the beach. The visitor center is excellent with activities, information, books, and a clean bathroom to boot. Ok an update: went back for seconds in the Fort to Sea direction but was solo so I went to the underpass and back. Due to riveting conversation on the first hike I did not notice the massive switchback section...lemme just say Sea to Fort direction is a doozie. It didnt take long. It was painful then it was over. Much hotter today than the first time which felt like it added some amount of sweat to the occasion. Felt great after and I really think this is one of my all time favorite hikes, even with the doozie section.

Superb experience. You could almost feel the history. Admittedly, I am a history buff, and particularly early colonial history. This is an area rich in those experiences and opportunities. Pristine trails! We started at the Fort Clatsop visitor center and took the Netul river trail down to Netul Landing. This is an easy stroll so try this one out first if you have people (or two little boys on their first outdoors adventure) who arent used to hiking. Then we took the South Slough Trail through a series of arboreal hills identifying flora and fauna (snakes! slugs! mushrooms! berries!) and made the 2 mile trek back to the fort. It wasnt easy but its not too difficult either so try it out!

Fort Clatsop was the winter camp for Lewis and Clark. After the purchase of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, the United States mounted an expedition into the west. The Lewis and Clark expedition had a couple of goals; make contact with the natives, search for the long anticipated Northwest passage ( an water route across the North American continent), and finally just to see what the US had bought. It was here after a perilous journey that the Lewis and Clark expedition spent the winter of 1806-06. We were fortunate because we visited during the Schumer/Pelosi government shutdown and while the visitors center was closed we were able to at least walk around the fort and the trails.

This National Park celebrates the adventures of Lewis & Clark, two of America’s most famous explorers. The Park offers something for everyone - videos and exhibits at the Visitor Center, hiking trails, kayaking at Neutal Landing and a replica of Fort Clapstop to experience. It is very kid friendly and brings history to life in a fun and interesting way. Free kayaking trips are offered during the summer months, but you need to plan ahead. The website is user friendly and will help you with your planning. For those who collect NP Passport stamps, this is a must stop. Stamps for several nearby sites without visitor centers can be found here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Your leashed pooch can join you on your trail walking but won’t be able to join you in the visitor center.

If you have additional 4-5 hours, do 13 mile Fort to Sea trail. Hike it or ask rangers about mountain biking the 13 miles like I did using alternate roads around the bike restricted switchbacks.
