We were there today. The waves were big and it was fairly cold, but we still enjoyed walking down the beach and looking for beach glass. We found a few small pieces. Mostly clear. Theres a break wall on the eastern side that you can walk on right next to the water. Walnut Beach is a small beach and there are quite a few rocks, but we very much enjoyed ourselves on a peaceful walk.

I love this beach! Dog friendly and the people are friendly — a great place to beach-comb!

Has anyone questioned the area where the nature trails were being posted No Trespassing private property by aqua? Looking into the land parcels I do not see that aqua owns this property. How can this be posted? The beach is nice but a large section that does not seem to be owned by aqua is posted by aqua. Can they purchase the breakwall and public property?

Actually a really nice beach, but make sure you have a truck or a car with sufficient ground clearance... Or be ready to walk quite a while. The main parking lot is pretty far from the beach and the other parking area is down a road that made me wonder if my struts were going to hold up... in my lifted Subaru Outback. All things considered, the view is great and the lifeguards do a fantastic job, good spot to swim and the sunset is straight out over the lake.

There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. The lifeguard was great and even helped me find a few pieces of beach glass!!! We had a great day there.

Not much to do,half the break wall is off limits now.we used to be able to walk clear to the end to fish now it has sings posted federal property, however it is not fensed off.

Very clean and clear water, nicely kept park. Visitors beware, you arent allowed any kind of flotation devices whatsoever. Recommend, just dont bring a raft and a football

This beach was clean, the water was clear & clean as well.. had lots of fun & found many cool rocks!

Decent beach, very rocky, with a decent amount of space. Nice picnic areas with grills, no trash cans as of currently. Consesions and other parts closed, but it seemed people were still there, or hanging around. Chance for beach glass also!

This is one of my favorite beaches around an in my hometown. I love the private side where you can drink, start a fire, have floating devices, pretty much everything. The beach an water are very clean.

Love this place. Just inside of Ashtabula, ohio lays this lovely beach of which you can walk thru the sand and visit one of the worlds largest bodies of fresh water. Lake erie. She is a beautiful lake that the waves lap up onto the beach and therefore washes treasures up and leaves some nice finds for beach combers. Sea glass is one of the best things to find. Who knows the age could be ten years old or even 200 or even 300 years old. Amazing. Besides you find and see these incredible glacial rocks as well...fun to look at but please leave them for others to enjoy.

Nice beach to walk along, good sand, but watch out for spiky burrs in the grass (I came home with quite a few on my shoes!)

I love going there and watching the sunset or rise. I like how they have the actual Walnut Beach with park, playground, picnic tables, pavilions, grills, access to the beach, but then they also have the end that you can walk the breakwall, sit in your car and still be near enough to view the lake and everything beautiful that comes with it. You can fish, skip rocks, things like that without worrying about bothering a swimmer or sunbathers, but you can still get to the beach and access the water from there as well.

Really good long beach however there is no picnic area close and facing the water other than the canteen spot. There is a covered area with picnic tables behind the parking lot.

We parked by the break wall and watched the waves crash. Took a walk on the beach. Easy access.

Would have been a great day had my granddaughter not found a needle on the playground. We disposed of it and left immediately and I will not be taking my grandkids back.

Beautiful space and the picnic areas were well kept. Very nice little retreat away from craziness on a weekday evening.

Okay clean beach not much to do. Not allowed to go all the way to end of breakwal signs posted now fed property but not fenced

Beach was clean. Witnessed a lifeguards picking up trash and a dead fish. Very conscientious about their job. Concession has limited menu due to covid, but french fries were great and worker was nice.

Beach is still nice, but restrooms werent open and the porta potty was DISGUSTING. I realize with the pandemic that not everything is open. Usually things are fine.

It isnt the ocean but it is a great place to visit on Lake Erie near Cleveland . Have great experience with someone close to my heart there. (DR) that would be you.

The best beach in Ashtabula OH as far as Im concerned. It may not be the west coast, but its home.

Driveway needs labeled out and beach needs attention. But it was a great day beach glass hunting!

I spend at least 1 day a week during the spring/summer months at Walnut beach walking the beach & looking for beach glass. Friends & I try to spend a 3 to 7 day mini vacation every summer. Everyone is friendly, Ive ran into several couples who return every year from different states who come here to vacation. Restrooms start out clean but you sometimes get those few people who dont clean up their mess. The sunsets are absolutely AMAZING! People pull up close to evening just to snap a few pics. I highly recommend you see this gem for yourself!

Really beautiful pebbles and tiny shells. Great sunset. Some trash laying around but not crazy bad. Nice place to sleep. Poop outdoors and wash your parts with the water of beautiful Lake Erie.

Been coming here since I was a wee kid. So many memories. One of the best places on earth.

This place has sentimental value, but the beach is just ok. Then again it us a beach in Ohio and Im from Florida so that may not be an unprejudiced comment.:-)

It was clean and refreshing

It was a nice place to visit, but there were no port-a-johns or restroom facilities. Unfortunately, while sitting on the rocks there was human waste... The doo doo put a real damper to the day!

Pretty cool area--beach right onto Lake Erie

Would be 5 stars, but the stand is still closed. I dont care about an overcooked hotdog, I just want to have a spot to take my kid to pee and rinse off sand.

Visited beach at end of 100 mile bicycle ride from East Liverpool to Ashtabula. The Park and facilities provide easy access to beach along Lake Erie and are well maintained.

First time to visit, would love to return.

Its a great place to hang and see Lake Erie. There is a small place to grab something to eat, but there is no gluten free options, which is the only reason why I gave it a four star. Theres places for kids to goof around on as well!

Please anyone taking your kids to the playground be careful on the walkway. The fifth or sixth plank on the walkway is raised up. I took my daughter there yesterday and ended up catching my sneaker on the plank that was stick up. I fell and broke my leg in two places. Please be careful.

Walnut Beach has been a family favorite for generations! Wide open space. Plenty of beach for everybody. Concession stand offers typical fare: hot dogs, soft drinks, and sweet stuff. Playground space is well kept. Decent bathroom facilities onsite which is a good thing. Long walk from the parking lot but the boardwalk makes it easier these past years. HINT: Use the parking area near the break wall (low riding vehicles may not do well) for quicker access to the beach and park in some better shade. During vacations, for us, nothing beats taking a dip in the lake at the end of the day, or even before our day begins!

Great place to take the family for a swim and some sun time

I lifeguard at walnut beach, its a good beach mostly quiet. I like the sand and surf, many look for beach glass sun tan enjoy a swim when the water temperature warms ,ah and the sunsets. Looking forward to the new food ,hot dog it, is going to open there this summer, check it out. You may even see a ship flying the skull and cross bones! Eye mate.

I absolutely love the beach, this area does have a tendency to get more crowded than I like but its a very nice beach and they have a play area for kids also, they need to work on opening the bathrooms or at least keep the porta-potty clean!!!

Amazing place to search for beach glass along Lake Erie and take a walk along the shore. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, we could not take our dog on the beach with us.

Walnut beach has always been a clean beach. But using the port a potty. Yuck all thoughs people at beach and no usable bathroom.

So many memories as a child. I always visit when i come to Ohio to see my family.

We were passing through and didnt stay long but it was a very beautiful and clean beach. The walk was a little long from parking lot to the beach but other than that it was very nice.

Great place to watch the sunset. Walk on the rocks and watch the paddle boards.

There were a lot of pretty rocks at this beach! The sand was really coarse, unlike Id ever seen before! The walkway to the lighthouse was pretty nifty: made of slabs of rock, and the waves crash at your feet while you walk down.We had a difficult time finding the pump to wash the sand off our legs. And there was a little more trash on the beach than I would have liked. But all in all, it was a pretty nice trip.

Clean with guards during certain hours. Only downfall was the port-a-John needed cleaned. Once the guards were on duty indoor bathrooms opened up.
