This is one of my favorite places. Our boat winters at Sutherland Marina right next to the lift bridge and its amazing to see hows its built and definitely to see it in action! There are also a lot of cool restaurants, coffee shops, and other shops in close proximity!

Only operable bridge like its kind.

This historic drawbridge operates every half hour. It’s a fun experience to watch it raise for the different boats to cross through the river. Plan your time accordingly because it’s usually about 5-7 minutes of stopped traffic each time it operates. It’s unique in that it doesn’t separate in the middle, but the entire bridge lifts from one end. Definitely fun to see!

Love having the bridge as part of our city for visitors coming into town, but I avoid it in the summer because it is always going up off schedule. It throws people off when they have to be somewhere at a certain time. Stick to the time, people!!!

Enjoy it because it is one of the Very few places you can walk a dog in Ashtabula County. Very unfriendly County for pets. No wonder it is such a poor area.

Great pice of history. Very cool to watch work. Then to think that it was designed more then 100 years ago and still operating today with out any major design changes. Great to see in the dark with all the lights on.

If you like lift bridges, this one is pretty cool.

Always take this lift bridge for granted having grown up with it. So great to be able to share it with my kids and grandkids!

I could sit and watch this bridge all day long. The nearby park, museum and restaurants make this the perfect visit and great day trip!

Its beautiful at night and very cool to see it all function. Adds a unique style to a mostly boring town. I would give it 5 stars if I didnt live down the road and have to deal with the crazy traffic every day. Plus being stuck waiting sometimes for 15 minutes just for the traffic to clear after the bridge had dropped can be frustrating.

If you are looking for a taste of the uniqueness that Ashtabula has to offer then this is the place for you. No where else have I ever seen such an awe inspiring bridge. This is only for the patient people who slow down and appreciate the little things in life. You have to wonder at the mechanics behind its operation.

Bridge Street is a wonderful place to see!

Very, very historic bascule style lift bridge. Its been there since my dad was a little boy in the 1920s. Its been restored/ refurbished a few times since then. Really looks like a gem at night with the lights on it. Its very cool to see the tall sailboats go by when the bridge is up. It is considered a very safe bridge, and possibly the last of one or two in Ohio still existing. Plus you can visit Bridge streets shops and restaurants while you are down there.

We went fishing on the Lucky strike and it was a great experience great Capt and great 1st mate. My 3 brothers and I will have a great time talking about our fishing trip for ever.

Great place to visit

Go thru here frequently on a boat. Pretty on time with the lifts, just in the evening you may have to sounds your horn or call if it doesnt raise to grab their attention

We didnt have these back in Oklahoma so to see one and see it in action is pretty cool. Especially at night when its all lit up.

For a day trip or even a weekend this is a nice area to visit. Kids love watching the boats go by and lots of restaurants and small shops to explore

Having grown up about a mile down the road from this bridge sort of removed the aura of history around it for me but now that I have lived in a different city for going on seven years I do think this bridge is a pretty amazing landmark. It is a one of a kind for traffic supporting bridges of its engineering style I believe. The view from atop the hill northwest of the bridge (used to be called Point Park) is always awesome, especially if you can catch it going up and going down for the incoming boats to cross under.It is a very interesting landmark in an area far from big cities that does not have very many landmarks. I would definitely recommend a visit to the harbor and a trek across the bridge as well as viewing it from the park and watching it be raised and lowered in the summer. A lot of history goes into this area and bridge Street (which leads up to the bridge) has some good dining establishments as well.

I have lived near here most of my life and I have never tired of watching the bridge

Beautiful with the new lights on at night. Definitely worth seeing.In college, I lived nearby and in the summer, the siren would go off every 30 minutes. Even sooner if the Coast Guard needed to get through. There were times on really hot days when the deck would expand causing the road to be closed until they could cool it down with water. Most days the water sprayed on the deck all day to keep this from happening.The lift bridge is something special. So is Lake Erie and all the activities that go with the lake. Sometimes we take it for granted, but remember, Iowa doesnt have anything like this. We do.

This bridge is beautiful, always lit up different colors depending on the time of year. In the summer it goes up every half an hour or so it can be a pain to wait in traffic for it but its still nice to see it going up or just seeing it in general.
