Great small venue!! Very clean, great people working there and on the heart of Asbury Park, NJ. Got to see Fozzy there and even there we were towards the back you cant tell cause the venue is so cozy!! Hoping they keep putting more and more great acts there!! Definitely need more reasons to come back!!

Fun venue. We were at a SRO event, which Im not a big fan of, but still, it was fun to see Dramarama. People at the door and bar were great. Really nice!

Definitely a solid venue. Caught Masked Intruder here. Nice size, good bar, different standing points to allow you to see from the back, too.

Absolutely fantastic venue! The drinks arent watered down, you can get right up to the stage, and you can have a great time with the bands.

Love this place. Parking is easy considering the area. Attracts a good crowd. Sound system is great for a venue of its size. Been a good replacement for the Lanes for punk and ska shows.

This was a very nice venue for an incredible birthday party that I attended in September 2018. I think the staff did a lot to help the host of the party which is fantastic. However, as a attendee, the staff was not so great. The party was open bar and mostly folks 40+ years old. There was a ton of security that over reacted and occupied a lot of space that you wouldnt expect them to for a birthday party. Not a big deal though. What did create a problem... people that were falling over drunk were being served and people that were sober were cut off (I dont really drink so this was just an observation, not an experience). It created a lot of unnecessary stress and tension. Still a great venue and could be a good time if the bar and security staff were a little sharper.

Awesome time being a little bit Country and Southern Rock n Roll with Mac Powell and Family Reunion. Perfect venue for the intimate concert experience. Good time all around.

A+ venue. Love the separate upstairs and the flexibility of the space overall. 2 bars with friendly and an adequate amount of bartenders. Lighting and sound were on point. Location is nice for having many dinner options and/or drinks prior to a concert.

Most underrated venue Ive ever been. I dont hesitate to see bands there. I love Asbury and have no problem driving an hour to visit the entire area.

Small venue and you are up close no matter where you are. Plus every seat(if there are any out)is a good one. Great place to see local bands

Awesome venue! Nice little balcony with a bar and a lot of standing room downstairs. Dont waste your money at the bar there. Lets of other cool bars in the area to get drunk before your shows

The hype is real, this was an incredible venue. clean, good climate control, good acoustics, good drink selection (kane head high on tap as of this review). beer and a shot for $10 is not bad all things considered. great ambiance / aesthetic/ architecture. i would be MORE LIKELY to see a musician/band at this venue because of how nice the venue is. very intimate, bathrooms were clean and really nice. really loved this venue. i hope to be back.

Every time I go to this venue for emo night I end up heading to the bar by the entrance. The girl with a bandana and braids always ignores me when I’m trying to get a drink mind you there’s a bunch of people trying to get drinks and when it’s my turn she ignores me and asks the person next to me for his order. In my opinion she’s racist. The bar downstairs makes better drinks and they kill the line fast.

A great local intimate venue to see concerts, speakers or films. Clean and nicely renovated. Friendly bartenders.

Its an amazing venue for concerts or just a dance party!! Its small but its awesome to go and experience new things and meet bands!!

A great venue - spacious, comfortable, and perfect location! Friendly bar staff and accessible bathrooms, good sound system and an option to watch the shows from an upstairs balcony. The only downside is nothing to do with the venue itself: as is ALWAYS the case in Asbury Park, be prepared to search awhile for parking, especially in the summer.

One of the coolest places around for a drink and always a great show around the corner. Some of my favorite bands have played here recently the staff are friendly and welcoming. I worked security here also one night and those guys are great also. Check this place out for their next show it’ll be guaranteed to be an awesome night out. Go for 90’s night , 2000’s night or emo night when they have them. Highly recommended this place

Went to go see Weathers and Badflower. Amazing show! The venue was a nice size and the brick walls really bounced the sound nicely.

I love how intimate the venue felt, but the staff was really cold and rude. Ive been to a bunch of venues that havent even hosted a bunch of concerts and they were more organized than this place. The reverberation wasnt bad even though the room isnt set up to dampen the echoes. I love Yungblud but the venue was really subpar....

Great venue seeing Allen Stone

The House of Independents is an awesome venue! Despite their relatively small size, they tend to have a broad and very good selection of musical guests and other shows. Drinks are, as expected at such a venue, a little pricey, but that being said anywhere you go in Asbury will have similar prices. Definitely recommend if you have a reason to go!

Great venue space. Sound and lighting was fantastic. The bar is reasonably priced. The bathrooms are well maintained, something not often found in these places. I cant wait to return for another show.

This is one of my favorite concert venues in New Jersey. It definitely has the best sound of any venue in the area. The way the room is shaped, the speakers fire right, and you dont lose sound to outside surroundings, so the sound shoots just right. While The Stone Pony is awesome, you still lose sound there, unlike this venue.Ive seen Nothing But Thieves, Walker McGuire, Highly Suspect, and several others here, and nothing has compared to when Ive seen the artists elsewhere. The prices for drinks are fair for the area, and there are ample bathrooms as well that you can actually walk to and get back to your spot from. Awesome venue, and I get excited when they get new artists often.

This was my first time here and I was pleasantly suprised. H.o.I. is a great intimate venue, with a terrific crew. And please do correct me if im wrong. But, although there are two levels, the entry level is wheelchair accessible.

Great venue for Live Music.

It is a small venue and the sound system is very good. I enjoyed this venue very much. Good views of the stage. There is a bar in the basement where the stage is and also has a bar on the balcony floor. No seating at the show I was at but it appears that they have pull out seats if they need them. I only saw about four or five seats that were already reserved. I was in need later of a seat for disability but I never asked if they could accommodate (I was able to sit downstairs on a couch). If you require a seat for disability Call the venue for info. If you dont know this area there is no close parking. We parked in the lot by the train and it is a short 7 to 10 minute walk. There are two free parking lots by the train. The parking garage was not accessible for public use that night.

Saw andrew mcmahon here. He was amazing!!! The place was nice too.

Top notch across the board. Especially of interest are the sound guys calves. If I had to use one word to describe them, that word would be... MAJESTIC.

The venue looks like an old converted movie theatre. The event I went to was an art show. It was not well planned. The art was displayed on the bottom floor and the food was on the street level (which would be the balcony). It was not at all attractive inside. If it werent for the fact that we had 6 paintings in the show, we would not have gone. I cant imagine anyone paying $20 to go there.

Ive enjoyed several shows at the House of Independents. Pricing is fair, employees are friendly, and the venue is clean and easy to navigate. There are ample bathrooms and its right on Cookman, so just steps away from food and other nightlife for before or after the show. Parking is hard to find and can add up, but thats the usual in the Asbury. I tend to park farther away and walk over and thats never difficult to do.

Great smaller live music venue in Asbury Park! The setup is nice with 2 floors to allow for larger capacity. Drink prices arent terrible and the sound is good. They always host some really terrific shows here!!

Great independent/versatile venue in Asbury Park. First off the sound has been great the times I have attended shows. Also, I like the separation of the bar upstairs (and the noise/light that comes with all bars) from the main concert area downstairs. The place is so small you can traverse between up/down easily. The stadium seating is nice too when the venue offers different seated programs/shows.

Wow! For my 1st time coming there to see JAKE MILLER in concert was great. The event venue was a nice place to have it along with the other male artists that were performing. The only thing I would say it it could of been nice if it was seated and really nice if people didnt be pushing others and acting crazy. Though even if we were standing it was a good area and was excellent standing up bear the stage seeing sexy Jake Miller perform for all of his fans. I had a awesome time seeing him in person and singing to his music. 5.23.18

What an outstanding concert venue! The best part about this venue is that if you are 21+ the bar is the best place to hang out, grab a drink and listen to the band without having to be down in the crowd. Their drink selection is outstanding as well.Would definitely like to see more of my favorite bands play here.

Emo night was pretty fun. Drinks were priced differently between bartenders which was the reason this bar didnt get a 5 star rating.

This place is a pretty cool venue. Ive seen a bunch of shows here. Depending on how sold through it is will determine how well you can see. Theres a balcony view but its always packed, so youll probably need to go downstairs by the stage. Yes, its stairs so think before you wear heels!Drinks are a wee pricey (as expected at a venue though) and the bartenders service is just OK . (Update your drink lists when youre out instead of giving a little tude. Maybe suggest something else and not just walk away?)Bathrooms are clean and theres a small seating area and bar downstairs, although I never noticed it to be open any time Ive been there... so, stairs.Overall a good place to see a show.

Last night a chick was puking out front and then shortly after 8 police vehicles and an ambulance arrived. Very exciting.

I went to see Nathan Sharp perform live. The event was well-staffed and managed very well. Minors had an X drawn on both hands to keep them from ordering alcohol. The sound system was fantastic. I loved every second of it

The venue definitely deserves 5 stars except as my group and I were waiting to meet me band, I took a seat on the floor since there were no chairs nearby and I only have one leg, but an extremely ableist security guard told me I couldnt sit on the floor. So Ill never come back, good riddance!Edit: a seemingly able bodied woman was sitting on the floor and they never said anything to her! This gets better and better

Really great venue. Ive seen several shows here, ranging in genre and one comedy show. The sound is great and the staff is really kind. There was really nice stadium style seating set up during the comedy show, so there really wasnt a bad seat in the house. Youll occasionally get the people who just stroll in on a random weekend show, who will just talk through an entire set, distracting the people who actually came to see the band. Other than that, theres not really a bad thing to say about the venue. Great place with a fantastic staff

More intimate than other venues. Enough room to enjoy a show even at capacity. Plus, compared to other venues, the drinks are not wildly overpriced (still more than you would pay at your favorite dive bar though).

Smaller than I thought, but they deliver with the atmosphere of color contrasts in the pit and the closeness of the bands to the general crowd. You can watch from on high, above the pit or along the staircase if you want. The bar is always pumping alcohol and they usually set up the merchandise tables close to the bar.

Was here for my first time during Emo Night. Definitely had a blast! Make sure though you come early, because parking will fill up quickly around the venue before the night starts. This place can hold quite a bit of people easily on the upstairs bar area and down on the floor in front of the stage. Downstairs area also has a bar and bathrooms too.

The venue has good sound, but the layout is a bit awkward. The top level is a small platform with a bar. The bands also set up their merch tables on this platform. Its very difficult to buy merch after the show and to leave the venue because the platform gets so packed after the show. It was also very hard to find parking, had to walk 3/4 of a mile from my car to the venue. Good sized bathrooms and a coat check.

Its a real shame when the venue , sound , location and space are all great, but the staff and especially the security will lead to the demise of this place. I have never seen such an unprofessional operation when it comes to security in my life. People are not going to stand for the nonsense that these idiots bring to the table. Shame .. real shame. I am not the first to complain about the security there either.
