The staff make this place great. This a good place to bring your kids for 1 hour or so but the staff (especially Lisa) are SO helpful, kind, and rich in animal knowledge that it makes it worth a visit. The living science center is quaint and located by short nature paths (less than 10 min walk) by a scenic pond.Inside the science center there are mostly amphibians and reptiles to view behind glass. The discovery room itself (which costs $5) is a little small but a great enclosed place to let your kids run (responsibly) free for 30 minutes with relaxed observation. There are some fun physically engaging video games that help children learn more about animals.

We went to learn and boy did we! The naturalist showed the kids some snakes and turtles and she was a wealth of information about them. 45 minutes of instruction was a little long for the younger kids in our group but perfect for the older kids. I would say bring an interesting activity for your younger children to do once they tune out of the long talk. The science center itself is delightful and every corner is interesting. Every single employee was friendly and seemed to like kids. Our homeschool group was very satisfied with River Legacy as a field trip. Definitely try to go in nice weather because the trails are great.

This place is amazing! Theres a ton of land, multiple entrances, and so many walking/biking trails with lanes. I love the fact theres multiple playgrounds, picnic areas, and even an upper body workout station. Perhaps best part is the science center, which is quite hidden and blends in with the environment. Its beautiful and has a lot of info for all ages. They host events throughout the year and post info about wildlife. Even, concrete paths and lots of grass so everyone can effort differently!

The staff here were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Nature and Science and that translated to our children so well. There are smaller exhibits and play areas inside as well as a room with binoculars for viewing Wildlife over the pond. The classrooms were Hands-On and the kids were able to touch smaller insects in the dirt in bins which was great for them. I highly recommend this place!

We really enjoyed the Discovery Room portion of this science center. The Discovery Room is a paid activity $3 for kids, $4 for adults and teenagers, and $5 for Seniors. Definitely worth the price. The Discovery Room is not huge, but practically everything inside it is interactive, very well done, and appealing to kids. My kids are 3 and 6 and were well entertained with the many available educational activities until they started to get hungry about an hour and a half after we arrived.

Came here for training class on a weekend through REI and was able to check out the exhibits during breaks, this is a really cool place for all ages and has lots of information and educational stuff for everyone. The people that run the facility are awesome and love to talk to you about what they do and why they do and you can see how passionate they are about it. I would love to come back and explore more of the outside trails as well when the foliage is nicer as well!

This park is wonderful and absolutely huge!! Its the biggest park Ive ever been too...and Ive been to a lot! It has dozens of trails, both paved and winding unpaved for biking, running, walking or just casual strolling. Its beautifully maintained and very lush with trees and vegetation. The park has two or three huge covered party pavilions and many picnic tables. It also has fields and playgrounds...and a nice big bathroom near the playground. We love coming here and walking and enjoying nature!

I love how the center offers several ways to diversify their services. They offer a discovery center with interactive screens and exhibits featuring live animals. The center is designed to resemble a forest which my kids (ages 3 and 7) enjoyed. I think the space is better suited for 5 and younger. The only disappointing remark would be the inconsistency in their technology for the interactive screens. I have visited at least 3 times in the past 2 months to find out everything was not working. If services are not reliable, it makes it difficult to keep this location as my first choice for my kids. If you havent been, I think its worth experiencing at least once. Just call in advance to make sure everything is working. Its not worth a wasted drive.

We have loved River Legacy for the weekly Nature School Program, and summer camps! The staff are really nice, and my son loves his teachers.I think the new renovations are nice, but I remember them raising a LOT of money to do them, and when we visited for the first time, we were not impressed. If you remember the old way it looked, you will recognize many of the same things behind the glass doors, not much has changed. I mean, they raised MILLIONS, and the toys out front are even the same older toys still. The center also used to be free of charge, and now costs $5 per child and $3 per adult. Honestly, I didnt see much for my 6 year old or his friend to do, as we were charged full price to go in, but the one thing that mightve made it worth it, the interactive screens in the back, had been broken for 3 weeks (they only told us that after we paid the entry fees and got up to the door to go in). That was a bummer. There were three things to do in the entire place; bird-watch by the windows, look at a few things through one of two microscopes, or dance around on an interactive floor section that stayed the same during our entire visit. There were lots of things to read, but the kids werent interested in all of the information cards all over, they wanted things to DO. I feel like we expected a lot more out of such an expensive renovation project, and dont see the need to charge for whats in the new area. Its $100 per year for a membership, but Perot is only $20 more per year and offers far superior exhibits. I cant see where the money went, or why there is a charge to get in now, and even a person sitting outside, guarding the entrance..

This is a great place for the kids. The admission is for the interactive exhibits, but the rest is free (trails, etc.). The interactive exhibits are worth it for the children and you can expect to spend 2 hours or so here. River Legacy Park in north Arlington offers miles of trails for walking to biking along the banks of the Trinity River. Markers and signs guide visitors to learn more about the areas ecology and natural history. A recent addition is a historical marker about Jesse Chisholm (1806-1868), who began the great overland cattle drives from Texas to Kansas following the American Civil War. Park officials often cut dead trees and limbs, but they leave them on site to create snags for supporting wildlife habitats. One tree looked to have well over 100 rings, although it has been there a long time and was hard to see the rings clearly.

Great place for the kids. On a day with bad weather, the Science center has plenty for the kids to do and see on the inside. When the weather is good, it is a great place to take a small hike and look for wildlife. The trails are relatively short, but with small kids, that is a good thing. If you happen to catch one of the guided trail tours, their naturalists are excellent at pointing out and educating the kids (and myself) to many wildlife and fauna details that would ordinarily go unnoticed.

This is a beautiful place. Only complaint is that we brought well-behaved 2nd graders on a field trip and our guide spent a lot of time telling the kids to be quiet when theyd get excited about what she was saying. Beautiful park with lotssssss of space and greenery. Several people were riding bikes and walking when we drove in. We like the area with the playground items that look like a tree. The kids call it the tree park.Even in hot Tx August the equipment wasnt too hot to slide down or climb on. Felt very safe and it was nice and clean. Picnic benches and a pavillion right close by for picnic or parties. They have great swings and different types for younger children to be safe. Kids with disabilities would enjoy them as well. Great little park to get the kids active!
