We booked the Metropolis Ballroom as a venue to hold a fundraising event for the Hersey High School band. The event was supposed to take place in February 2021; however, we had to cancel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately for the Hersey band program, Metropolis was unwilling to refund the $750 deposit we made to reserve the ballroom, despite the fact that we are currently, legally unable to hold the event. In fairness, they did offer ability to apply the $750 deposit as a credit for a future event within the next 12 months, but we do not have any future events planned.The CEO of the Metropolis Ballroom will say that the $750 deposit is non-refundable, per the terms of our contract - which is true; however, it is very disappointing that they weren’t willing to be more flexible, given the fact that we are in the midst of a deadly pandemic. I know things are tough for businesses right now, but it’s just wrong that they would keep the school’s money, especially when they aren’t holding any events for the foreseeable future.I will personally never do business with Metropolis again.

Metropolis Ballroom is a great and unique ballroom! Situated in the heart of Arlington heights, its got a great view and feel of the downtown Arlington!The food is unique and very delicious! The staff was very friendly and nice!

Metropolis Ballroom has been a venue our team has worked at multiple times throughout the years. The ballroom is spacious, modern, and has a wonderful view of the downtown area. The floor to ceiling windows are a WOW factor. The space is accommodating for any event that you have in mind, and Shawna McGarrys customer service is top of the line. We love partnering with her and admire her dedication to success!

We were going to have our baby shower here for our first child in April 2020 and due to all the world choas that is happening, the owner was NOT sympathetic at all about giving the deposit back. He was more concerned about rescheduling it for a later date when our child is due early summer. With everything going on in the world he cared more about us coming back, then a new mother and father dealing with a newborn during a time universal pandemic which no one knows when it will be ending. He stated he was a small business, which we understand are many other places out there and it was not just his company but the Metropolis did nothing for our shower at that time. We still had 1 month before it came to be. So no food was ordered, nothing was prepped and no arrangements were made. Make sure you READ everything and pray that a world pandemic doesn’t happen during your most precious time. As the money you use at the deposit you may never see again unless you mandatory reschedule with them again. The owner was not apologetic at all, as it’s the right thing during a time of need. So others PLEASE be aware.

We got married at the Metropolis on New Years Eve and it was the best night ever!!! The venue is beyond beautiful and the entire staff especially Shawna made sure that everything was perfect that night and throughout the entire planning process. They worked hard to make sure your vision of the day came through perfectly. I can not say enough wonderful things about the Metropolis Ballroom and the staff!!

Great venue for large group meetings and day long presentations. Completely equipped for refreshment and beverage services as well as full bar service and finger food buffets. Great place to fill an entire day.

Customer service was exceptional. Great room for meetings. Plenty of parking available in the adjacent parking lot.

Went here for.Mothers Day brunch. Food was excellent. They had a surprise fashion show, which seemed a little weird. Service wasnt very good and they didnt seemed very organized. Overall enjoyed it but too many other places to try before returning.

Gorgeous place for a wedding. Convenient upstairs atmosphere and enough room for a good sized wedding. Loved it.

My daughter held her dream wedding here on a 95 degree June day. Shawna, Mike and their whole team of professionals worked diligently to keep things cool, calm and collected with 100% success! The brides room was comfortable and cool with lots of little added values thru the getting ready process - (ICE!!!!). During the planning phase, Shawna was consistent in her messages and effective in helping Tori create the ideal atmosphere and accoutrements to bring her perfect wedding to life!Watching the staff set up the room for the ceremony and then transform the space for a magical dinner and dancing was an amazing feat given the time and the temperature they had to work with! As the Mother of the Bride, I was greeted with many compliments and comments on how elegant the room was and how comfortable the whole day had been.The outdoor temps did not ease up as the evening progressed, and with the enchanting patio right outside the doors of the event hall, it was difficult to keep the temps inside level with all the in and out of guests enjoying the ambience of the outside bar and beautiful downtown Arlington Heights sights. Every detail was exactly as the Bride and Groom had wished - I would recommend this venue and Shawna and her team every time, hands down! Kudos!

Good services for a large number of people.

We had our wedding here 5 weeks ago and it was magical! The staff was great, food was delicious and Shawna (our coordinator) was incredibly helpful. The wait staff were all very friendly and incredibly efficient. Our day was perfect and we loved every minute of it ️

Shawna and the entire staff at Metropolis are an outstanding team to plan a wedding with! They made the entire process easy, fun, and stress free. Shawna kept me up to speed on details, meetings, and deadlines. She had an amazing ability to work with my large family that all wanted a say in wedding planning and allow us to still have fun in the process! The day of, Shawna and her staff set up the ballroom to look like it was straight out of a bridal magazine. My jaw literally dropped when I first waked in the room! I wouldn’t trust anyone more with all the details of my big day, Shawna is a blessing and her team creates memories to last a lifetime at Metropolis!

We were here for a wedding reception in early August, the room was decorated very nice. The small room for drinks and appetizers was very tight for the number of guests attending. It was a very warm day outside, and the temperature inside was almost as hot as it was outside.

The place was very nice and roomy.The buffet was horrible .The ham was over cooked, the hash browns were cold and greasy, the scrambled eggs were cold and dry. The flour tortillas were cold and hard.I did complain and the hostess was very apologetic and offered to bring out some fresh ham and eggs.My issue was why wasn’t the fresh ham brought out in the first place. I would not sent any of my friends their.

Second time weve been here for Easter and it was excellent! The food was delicious, the service was great, and it wasnt crowded at all so it didnt feel like you were on top of other people. Great experience and will go again!

We held a corporate event at the Metropolis in Sept. 2016. The event was originally to be held at another venue that had shut down less than two weeks from the date of the event. Thankfully, the Metropolis had the date free! The staff at the Metropolis went above and beyond to help us transition ALL the details of the event smoothly in such a short amount of time. Courtney provided outstanding service which helped keep our stress level low. We received several compliments from our guests regarding the venue and the service provided. I would highly recommend using this beautiful, unique space to host your event.

Wow! What a stunning venue for a wedding. A metro design, spacious layout, large balcony overlooking the beautiful downtown Arlington Heights. The photo possibilities are endless if you are looking for a city feel and conveniently has a park across the street. The Metropolis Ballroom staff is fantastic to work with and the food is amazing. The Metropolis Ballroom is hands down one of my new favorite venues and I am looking forward to covering future weddings at the Metropolis Ballroom.

My fiancé and I attended a wedding at this venue on Sunday, July 3, 2016. Out of a 200 person wedding, over 80 wedding guests are sick (including the bride and groom) and being hospitalized for a food borne outbreak. My fiance and I got released from the emergency room yesterday. When the groom spoke to owner, Tom, he tried blaming it on the bakery the couple hired to bring sweets for the sweet table (both me and my fiance did not have any sweets along with many others). How can someone point blame without investing on their end first? Poor business and customer service. I hope this place goes down the tubes.Not to mention, the food was not served hot (not even lukewarm!) we had cold food! It came out super late (we didnt finish eating till almost 10pm and appetizers were served at 6pm) and the staff did not seem like they knew what they were doing, all scatter brained and eager to get out of there. I feel terrible for the happy couple who wasted their hard earned dollars on this place. Beware!

Went to a Corporate event here. Very clean and the staff was attentive to all of the guests needs. I have been here twice for parties and both times was a great experience.

My wife and I had our wedding here. It was great. The staff worked with us to get everything perfect. We werent absolutely thrilled at our tasting, but they pulled out all the stops to make sure we came back and tried again and it was supurb.

It is only getting 2 stars because the actually venue is pretty.This is what I wrote the the President/CEO:I was at the venue at 4PM to do an overview and make sure everything was set up according to plan. Around 5:30 I spoke to the gentleman who was setting up the stage, and we asked to make sure that a railing was put in place where the stairs were. He said that was no problem, but I realized when the awards started in the evening that there was no railing for balance.Our evening began a 6PM, although set up was still taking place at 6:05PM and guests started to walk in.From the beginning of the night when I was mingling at the bar, someone asked the bartender for a glass of the Menage Trios. The bartender then told them that that wine is only severed during dinner. I interrupted, as I chose the wines for the evening, and I informed the bartender that all wine we chose was available at the bar, and 2 bottles of the Menage Trios and 2 bottles of the Kim Crawford will be on the tables during dinner.There seemed to be a lack of commination regarding the place cards as well. I was up by the projector when the servers came around to pick up orders. Some servers took the place cards and some took the place cards with the place card holder, some gave back the holder, some gave back just the card. From my angle it looked out of whack. By the time I got back to my seat they started to serve the soup. After settling in I noticed everyone had their soups and place card but me. I then had to find a server to let them know my place card was gone.Butter was not on the tables when bread came, I went up and made sure they placed butter on each table (easy fix). Time frame in between soup, salad, and entrée ran a bit long. When the entrées came out, as discussed the entire venue was disappointed in the portion size and the temperature. Every single item on the plate was barely lukewarm, and as I mentioned I did not even eat my sirloin as it was way overcooked and I could not even cut into it. We had 71 orders with the sirloin or filet. Not having steak knives was shocking, and if we had known that the steak knives were to be provided upon request we would have wanted them. I worked in the service industry for 12+ years -from server, event coordinator, and management- and I was let down by the Metropolis Ballroom’s.Side note – bathroom ran out of toilet paper. Also, I know this is not part of your ballroom, but the elevator is scary. There is a smell in there, the carpet is stained and looks very dirty, and the floor level sign was being held together with black duct tape.This event was a huge deal to the company, as we flew in employees from all over the US. I am embarrassed that I am hearing people discuss how horrible the dinner was from even in Germany.The actual venue was beautiful, but it did not make up the experience of dinner. Pass appetizer and late night snacks were good.Tomas Manetti (the President) wrote back saying he would look into it and get back to me and he never did.

Best event venue in the area. Great setting and best staff around.

Went here to check out the venue for our wedding. The staff were extremely rude and only gave use 15 minutes to go over all the different packages and look at the place. Then he called us about a week later to see if we made a decision. We did and we certainly told him that because of his lack of respect and attention that we are not going to be using their facility. We really wanted to love this place. Honestly we did.
