We recently saw The Mother Hips at Van Duzer Theater. Sitting for the entirety of a show is unusual for us but the seats were comfy enough and the slope of the room allowed for good visibility. Dancing was only allowed along The sides, against the wall. The space was clean and well maintained and the acoustics in the room were pretty good.

Sat in the balcony for the Preservation Hall show. The seats are terribly close together and couldnt find a way to get comfortable. On top of that it was very warm adding to the discomfort. Towards the end of the show they started using a lot of lighting that hit our eyes directly on the balcony, blinding us at times. It was a fun show, just wished the venue was better.

Theres some great shows that go on here and the people are the best. The student run shows have the best stage managers.

Theater is fairly easy to find on the large campus. Theatre its self is nice, however; the seats are a bit close together. So it felt a little cramped in there. The theater had kinda of an older feel to it, not modern. I liked that. The dance performance that I saw, put on by the students was very good. The lighting and sound system was good in the theater. No echo as you might here in other theatres. Made for a very enjoyable performance.

The wonderful Wizard of Oz, was so entertaining & enjoyable, lovely evening. The lighting leaving could be improved, not being familiar with the area, we had trouble seeing, to return to the parking area. (The area after the steps) where the sidewalk slants. We are Seniors, probably not a problem for younger folks.

Large theatre for our quaint city size. Its on HSU campus and parking is always a nightmare there.

A great place to see great music. The only drawback is there is no real dance floor. So people just dance in the aisles if they can. Make sure to load up your parking meters extra before you go in otherwise theyll be waiting to issue you a 40$ parking ticket as soon as the meter runs out. Its a college campus so parking can be a bit annoying. Check a map of where to park if youve never been here before. Be prepared to walk up some stairs to get to the venue.

Nice venue, good sound. Lots of students of course with the theatre being on campus, so keep that in mind. Varied programming as well, which is nice. When in the area I definitely keep an eye on the schedule.

Saw several great shows here when I was attending school at the University - including Stomp, which was excellent, and Habib Koite. Also, I was a part of a couple of ceremonies and several other events here too.I remember that the sound quality for Stomp and Habib Koite were excellent - though, being big acts, they probably brought their own equipment.Great memories here though, and several a fun play and bluegrass show attended here too.
