So beautiful! Google nails it when it lists this as a must visit place in the area. We saw the most beautiful sunset. Come prepared though, it is scorching hot (keep in mind, we were here in July... But still) plenty of wildlife and contrary to some of the other reviews I read before we went here, we didnt mind the fee. It costs money to upkeep such a natural and beautiful place...

This is an awesome state park. There are awesome trails to hike. We had access to the Superstition Mountains from our campsite. We hiked to Flat Iron and it was an amazing 7 hour hike. We spent one of the 7 hours playing on top. We didnt have a camper with a bathroom so it was a long hike to the bathrooms. That was the only negative. It wasnt a problem except when you have to go in middle of the night. Just outside of the state park you will find many places to dine, shop and get gas.

This state park is named after the legends of the Lost Dutchman’s gold mine. There are many tales of this supposed hidden gold mine in the Superstition Mountains that have captivated people for hundreds of years. Although there are several stories about the origin of the mine nobody has been able to confirm for certain which is true. This park is very interesting to visit with many trails to see the surrounding area and includes a lake. Some popular ones here are the Flatiron Trail and Weavers Needle. There’s even a small town called Goldfield Ghost Town which adds more to the old west vibes from the area. At about 45 minutes east Phoenix it is easily accessible and much different than other mountain peaks in the area. The four peaks can also be seen from here in the distance as well which provides an additional backdrop for photos especially when they’re covered in snow. Because it sits in the east it also creates some great shadows and golden curtains of light over the face of the mountains. It’s not uncommon to see many photoshoots out here for engagements and graduations due to the beautiful desert landscape. Sometimes it can be very crowded on the way there as the roads are one lane each way so just make sure you leave yourself enough time to arrive in time for sunrise/set. We have been fortunate enough to go on one of the rare occasions last year when it snowed out there and it was packed with people. However, since this park is so spread out it is a great place to come take in the scenery without feeling to crowded!- @wanderingwithustwo

Enjoyed this very much except the neighbors that seemed to think the generator hours were mandatory and used them to the minute even if they werent using the rig!!!The sites in the top loop are kinda close, but I suppose thats standard anymore. We decided to walk around and find other sites for a better view of the mountain and make note for the next time.Be aware... Many of the sites have the table and fire ring on what would be the back side of the rig. Look at the pictures carefully before reserving. I wish they marked them so you knew before you reserved!!

Desert scaped chain link area, pretty large.Pulled through the wrong way so we could look at the mountain from our pop up from the door side.Very quiet and lots of quail. Its August so its HOT!Park obviously doesnt have many visitors this time of year and with covid its probably even less. You must reserve the day prior to arrival no same-day check in. Which is a bummer for a local resident who impulsively just wanted to get out of the house for a quick getaway. Anyhow its clean, its beautiful and its close to home.Oh and this was our first time ever plugging in to camp, we only boondock. So yea! We made it to a campground for another first time experience.

I remember when public land was free. This place wants $7 to get in ($10 on weekends) and you cant even take your own photos without paying an ADDITIONAL photography fee. God forbid you might want to launch a drone to get some cool aerial shots of the mountains; nope cant do that either without paying a $50 fee for that. I will never set foot here.

I took some friends up to the Lost Dutchman State Park. I go up there quite often and have never minded the fees. In the past we have left one car in the parking there and hopped into one car to go up in the park. On this occasion I came back to a 10 dollar ticket on my car. The Ranger in the station was very rude when I questioned the ticket. I said there is no sign posted and she said coming into the park it says it is a fee area. I said then why did the guy at the gate that saw we were shifting into one car not say something. She had no answer for that and told me that the 10 dollar ticket would stand. I paid the ticket and figured lesson learned but am sad that they feel they have to ding everyone. Next time I go to show off our beautiful State ill make sure we are in one car or just bypass the state park all together. They lose more than they gain by being rediculous. As for the rude Ranger at the station develop some people skills.

Beautiful views. Friendly staff. Nice hiking trails. Dump station has hose for black tank back washing if you have a hookup that allows for it. Lost Dutchman goldmine town just up the road. Very touristy but fun. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was I wish their signs were bigger. Hard to read the small signs in the dark to make sure you are going where you need to go, especially towing a rig. Also lane markers need to be repainted so it is easier to see in the dark (white one way arrows versus two lane yellow divider lines) to know which way you should be driving. Also needs to have longer waiting lanes for the dump station. Two rigs can dump at one time and two rigs can wait directly behind. Any more than that and there is no place to wait except at the campsite you are leaving.

I would suggest to access the trails from outside the park if that is what you are looking for. We went there to hike and see the park but the loop for the trail system is not that impressive and most of the trails are out of the park and accessible without paying to go in the park. Other than that the Treasure Trail was very impressive and we watched an awesome rain storm blow in from the top and hiked back in the wind and rain! Very beautiful!

Beautiful little park. We went in the late afternoon and hiked the treasure loop trail, about 2.4 miles, and highly recommend it. The views were absolutely stunning! The hike itself is fairly easy, theres some elevation gain but I did it carrying my 7 month old and had no problems. We saw so many different desert plants and the towering saguaros against the superstition mountains make for the prettiest backdrop. If you can, go at sunset; as we were leaving it just kept getting prettier.

I hiked the Praying Hands Slot Rock Trailhead and was amazed at how magnificent the area was! The flowers were in bloom, the trail was maintained, clean and very well marked. NOTE: this trail is rated as moderate because near the top, there are a few areas where there is uneven ground. This is an 832 feet incline + a 4.3 mile loop so bring hiking sticks (if needed). One thing - make sure you use a navigation app because the entrance to the trail is not marked. The location is N 1st Water Rd. You will have parking but it is not paved nor is there bathroom facilities. Plus, there is no shade so please be prepared with sunscreen, plenty of water and other essentials so you can enjoy the hike. :-) One more thing, I noticed something when I got to the top that blew me away - there are three rocks that appear to be looking down on something. It looks like the manger scene from the bible! I included that pic and with a small arrow so you can see it. :-) Overall, this is one of my favorite hikes and highly recommend it.

This is quite a well maintained state park in Arizona. The campground has several options from full size bus hookups down to tent, then hiker/biker. The bathroom/shower facilities were wonderful. However someone kept leaving the shower trickling. So nice to have an outside 2 basin dish wash-up area. Many entry to intermediate trails inside or starting on the park. A few advanced trails as well. In spring when we stayed several snow birds with their hookups n campers. This campground is very close to Mesa and Sloan park for Cubbie fans who want stay on the cheap, close to the park only 20 - maybe 30 minutes drive. As for the park, its close to the local ghost town with its saloon. Theres beef jerky and pizza close by to the south. An affordable safe and fun park to visit. Reservations suggested its popular.

Close to the city, deep in the wilderness. A must-visit park for those not wanting to get too lost while still requiring some adventure. Reservations are necessary, as many folks grab these spots, and often for long stays (14 day maximums). RVs are the most common sight, and it attracts that demographic of traveler. However, everyone was very kind and generous as they saw us struggling to stay dry in our tent after several successive days of constant rain. The trails are limited to a few paths, but it still feels vast and open as you traverse them. I loved the spectrum of skilled hikes too, anything from a casual stroll to a hardcore hump up to the flatiron which demands solid preparation and being in decent shape to deal with a 5+ hr trek & some vertical scrambling. The individual sites are pretty small and hard to put a tent anywhere but the paved drives into each nook, much of the ground is covered in small plants and cacti. Theres a picnic table/bench thing at each spot, plus a fire pit grill (which is the only place you can burn). Bathrooms and showers are on site and worked great during our stay. Good for families too, if your kids arent the kind to flail themselves around too much, those Chollas are no joke!
