I must say that this is one of Alabamas best kept secret. I was reluctant to go when my husband suggested it. It was nothing like I had imagined. I was thoroughly impressed and I loved everything about it. It is totally worth a visit.

Wonderful little museum. Full walk-through in about an hour. Scenic coy pond, historic (war-focused) Burman Museum, and a botanical gardens in the same area. Very satisfying mix of the natural histories, and plenty of animal dioramas for all to enjoy.

I am a local to this museum and I have surprisingly never been here until recently. I have to say I was very surprised. Although there are not a lot of interactive exhibits, it was still a lot of fun. The first part is dinosaur’s, then it leads to a cave exhibit. After that there is a large animal exhibit which was pretty interesting. The last part of the museum is the mummy exhibit. That was definitely the most interesting part. There is an educational video you can watch to get more history behind it which I really enjoyed. After that it leads to the gift shop, then of course the lobby. Overall the staff was nice, and the museum was very clean. I wish there was more interactive parts but it is a natural history museum so it’s more of just stuff to look at. It was a great experience but it’s not a place you would go to a lot; although it is worth a visit.

Annistons museums are remarkable for a city its size and find a town with such a cultural park is a treat. The good thing about the museum is its ordered collection and way its displayed. The cave, Egyptian section and ornithology are all high points.Whats tougher is that there is little interaction. Two elements people often miss are the trails just to the museums right and the courtyard with flowers, sculpture and koy pond.Wheelchair accessibility is easy.

Excellent place to browse around at leisure. So many interesting areas. Outside of the museum is area that has living birds of prey on exhibit. They are majestic. All of this and it only cost my whole family less than $20 to get in. Highly recommended!!

We went to the Anniston Museum of Natural History today and it was the first time going in a while. A lot of changes had been made since the last time we went. The employees were very helpful and friendly. The facility was still clean as it always has been been in th past. I was happy to see you hat the laughing giraffe in the lobby. The kids loved it. The entire facility.

I grew up in Anniston and have been here many times, but was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the remodel they have done since our last visit. I have lived in other places and visited many museums— this world-class museum is a hidden gem. The exhibits compare in quality to the Smithsonian, yet afford a more up close view, and lots of content tucked into a smaller footprint.

It was alright I enjoyed it! Kids got bored I think towards the end my fav part was the gold fish and they have a live rattlesnake as you see in one of the pictures. I think it would have been better if we would have had a guide to walk us through telling us about the stuff but it was fun I enjoyed it

I had an awesome time here, loved the different exhibits and had a blast going through all the areas. Only thing I remember being confused about was the kid area interactive items missing some stuff or not working properly. Audio buttons always were funky, but overall experience was good. Only recommend if the opportunity is available to update the audio displays and fix the interactive stations for the kids. Besides that would recommend, was totally worth the 12$ for this and the Berman museum

This is a hidden Alabama gem. I was born and raised here and had no idea this existed. The live animal show was fun and informative. The exhibits are clean and tastefully done. They even have Egyptian mummies! Who knew?? Nice, shady grounds with picnic tables if you want to pack a lunch. My only suggestion would be to hire a PR person and get the word out about this place! Offer summer camps perhaps?? Definitely get into Birmingham Parents magazine. People (in Alabama especially) should know this place exists. Great little day trip for kids and adults alike.

This museum is fantastic. I could spend literal days in here, exploring just the bird section. If you are a lover of science, you have to visit if you are in town. The information they have available is astonishingly vast, and amazed me on my first visit. If you have kids, please visit as well. There are more child-focused exhibits as well; however, the main exhibits are interesting enough that children should be entertained. Just a warning: please watch your children, as the taxidermy will be damaged if they touch the animals, and these exhibits should really be preserved as much as possible. This place is wonderful, and very deserving of 5 stars.

I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality and impressiveness of the museum. All of my children, aged 5, 3 and 1, were totally immersed in every display and interactive activity. My 5 year olds favorite area was the caves of Alabama and the dinosaur display. There was a full stegosaurus skeleton, a triceratops skull and a full scale Pteranodon model. My three year old was completely fascinated by the ancient Egypt area and asked me questions about the mommies all the way back to Birmingham. All in all, I give this museum five huge stars and plan on going back several times this year!

Visited here when I was a boy so 40 years later brought my girls here to see the museum. It has expanded and grown since the late 70s early 80s but in a good way. Very nice museum full of relics you only read about or see on TV. Here you can see it in real life and understand things you cant from looking at pictures or tv.

I took my niece to the museum on a cold rainy day. We walk in they were so excited. Its was warm and the place is full of natural artifacts.we looked at so many different types of creatures bones and arrow heads . its set up in a maze form. Every room was a different type of era in time. The younger generation will be delighted with the the very ending room its just best described as the fun room.

I volunteered here as a docent in the late 1970s to early 1980s. My employer, the late Mr. Tom Potts, assured me that I would enjoy guiding tours to fill my weekends. He was right... Being a docent was one of the most rewarding experiences of my lifetime. Some of the most beloved exhibits were the two Egyptian mummies, the African musical instruments and the birds from the original museum which was located in downtown Anniston where the public library now stands. Most of the younger guests giggled non stop at the naked mole rat... What can I say?He is a favorite of many. Set aside several hours when planning your visit as there is much to see and do. Bring the babies and the grand folks and do not forget to visit the gift shop! Have a happy safari
