Liberty Plaza is an interesting park. It is a sunken plaza, no grass, many seats, and a good amount of shade. It is a perfect location and design for homeless people to spend their time, and there is plenty of seating for people to spend their time & loiter. Honestly, based on the way that the park is designed it is a perfect safe haven for poor/homeless people to spend some time, which is a good thing. I find it interesting that Ann Arbor and the Bank of Ann Arbor run music events there such as the Sonic Lunch events there bringing a whole bunch of more affluent people to that park. I stumbled upon Sonic Lunch and hung out there for a while today and the event was great-- the sunken plaza is perfect for concerts!

We love coming to Sonic lunch on Thursdays! Chance for my toddler to be exposed to live music for free in the middle of the week. For Sonic lunch - bring a chair if youll need to sit or get there about 45 minutes early to grab a seat.

Definitely not an area to walk by with kids. Homeless will hound you if you walk by. Try offering some food and they will get pissed for not giving money instead... happened in front of our 6yr old. If Ann Arbor was more family friendly we would be around more frequently but this spot and the rest of it really isn’t unless your going to the hands on museum and or Kerry town that’s about it for family friendly goes in the city area. Why isn’t anything being done with the amount of homeless and other issues in the area?

Super sketchy. If you can avoid the ODd hobos and the diverse people fighting each other it probably wouldnt be bad. Unfortunately those bits are unavoidable.

Some broken glass, sometimes populated with homeless people. Great place for Sonic lunch on Thursdays during the summer though. Not a bad spot to eat lunch and enjoy being outside downtown.

Always so much drama there...people there drinking and what not...I Mean, the pot is fine with me lol...i never had a problem with that. But, when youre trying hard to stay sober, you definitely dont want to be there.

I give two stars because a lot of drug users and undesirable people tend to hang out in the park all the time but I would give more because every Friday there is a thing called Pizza in the park done by an amazing church called Vineyard where no matter the weather they come out and give people free pizza Snack Bag coffee and occasionally other things

It is nice that the city of Ann Arbor realized that the public needed a place to sit and reflect. Everyone is on such a fast track these days. This public space gives everyone a reminder to slow down and contemplate.

As countless bad experiences. Henuous activity and violent scaffles have taken place here unbeknown to most of us.. Liberty Plaza, better known as spark park has begun to change. The city and residents who desired a change being made here have made cosiderable improvements and joint efforts to do just that. Ex. Food giveaway, music concerts, outdoor art exhibitions, etc. Would not go down there now as many people have been hurt here by others..

Very nice area center of Downtown AnnArbor. You will get a true feeling of how it is to live in a College Town and be below the proverty level.. These people are the relatives of the founding fathers of AnnArbor Michigan. Learn how the decendants of the Hippies and beatnicks, that our forefathers excepted with open arms now want to move us out like yesterdays dirty laundry. How quickly forget. The shame and glory has truly been misplaced. The Indian the Mexican ,the Chinese , everybody has been compensated for their contributions to Society and the United States Of Americas Tha is everybody but the decendants of the founding Forefathers of Humanity. Thats right ( The Original Man ) the so called American Blackman. However there are no accidents, the Laws of God govern all and so says He in all Bibles ( He that has been first will become last ,and He that has been last will be first.. wake up World the time has come for change . Get to know the people of the City of AnnArbor the ones who should matter when you speak of the Beauty and safety of aCity. Forget about the outside bigmoney investors, lets think about the areas of AnnArbor that majority of them live below level. You will come to grips with the effects of drugs and Anchol at all levels of Society.. this is the nimber one reality show in AnnArbor Michigan. This the AnnArbor that the City Officals try to hide and displace, these are people who have lived in this City for 60 an 70 years, talk to them hear what they have to say. Do you really have courage enough for the truth !!
