When German Park opens to the public on the third Saturdays of June, July, and August, it’s always a great time. The food is awesome... German staples including Knockwurst (my favorite), Brats, German potato salad, spatzen, and of course ! Early in the afternoon/evening it’s family friendly (kids love the polka music and dancing). No credit cards accepted... bring cash! A family of 4 can have a good time and try everything for around $80-$100.

6 Stars☆☆☆☆☆☆ really awesome! I have never been a friend of mine told me and we went. Had a blast! The German dancers one of them threw a hat and it landed right on my buddies head and thats the pic! They got the beer they got the food they got the people and its all good in the German Hood!

One of our favorite summer spots. Just wish it was open more often! An Oktoberfest celebration at the end of September would be awesome! As would a Weihnachtsmarkt in late November or early December!

While there is a lot of seating, the place looks quite run down. Toilets are in a miserable state and one has to make a choice whether or not to relieve themselves after entering the toilet. It is far better to use the temporary portable toilets kiosks located in other parts of the park as they are far better in terms of cleanliness.

I try to come all three times each year. Just because each one seems to be a different but just as wonderful experience. Absolutely love this place. Great food, friendly staff and the atmosphere is one of a kind. The authenticity of the beer and food is unrivaled. Can’t wait for next year! One of these years I may have to buy me a Lederhosen. Look out! Ha ha.

Amazing event and great area. Parking was very efficient and free. Wait time to get in to the even was minimal, as was it for food and drinks. Really good beer that you can buy by the bucket. The cider is quite good too. The music is very nice and the food is amazing. I highly recommend the events they host here.

Thee ONLY reason I rate German Park a 4/5 is for the fact they they are only open 3 days out of the 365 available! This place is so amazing it stuns me that its being so underused (to my knowledge at least). This venue is PERFECT for an Octoberfest (even if its in September to get ahead of the weather)! This venue is, also PERFECT for a Weihnachtsmarkt! - even if it has to be modified in what ever way bc of the weather.Ok, enough of me talking about how much MORE potential this place has, to be even greater, than what it already is! German Park is absolutely legit! It has a long running history dating back to 1938 and maybe (not that Im thinking about it) they dont want to ruin it by adding more. Just, go on in! Pay the $5 cover and enjoy the everything about that place!Live music Authentic food Regionally select beers (and then theres something for the Bud Light and the like drinkers as well) Plenty of seating Dance Floor Company Etc!

Unique and great fun to have a picnic with 2,000 of your closest friends once a month! Good energy, come with a group or family, bring your picnic tablecloth, grab some table space and visit with friends while eating great German food / beer thats served here. The live music sets the mood for having a nice afternoon.

I lived in Germany for a while, so I was excited to go with some friends and see what Michigan-German looked like. I have a service dog who accompanies me everywhere and I never had a problem with him before anywhere else once I identify him. Here, however, I was literally HARRASSED by several volunteers about him and one tenacious jerk tried to kick us out. Hes too small for most vests right now so I dont put him in one. But then I was told I have to have my papers for him and he has to be vested. LEGALLY according to the ADA and HIPAA all I have to do is identify him as my service dog and they may ask what service he provides. Thats it. So, not only did they break the law the harassment threw me into TWO panic attacks! I think it all started because some lady ran up to me with her toddler and without asking tried to get her kid to pet my dog. I said hes a service dog and he couldnt and she got mad and got a volunteer and hes the one that tried to kick me out. If this is how they treat people with disabilities (even if you cant physically see them) that have well-behaved service dogs I will NEVER go back and you shouldnt even bother! Worst experience ever!!

Lots of fun. The picnics are on the last Saturday of the months of June, July, and August, so mark your calendar ahead of time. They go from 4:00pm-11pm. They have a different band each month that plays polkas and waltzes and also a little American pop music. There is a large dance floor also. There are hundreds of picnic tables where you can sit down to eat and drink and they sell German food, German Bier, etc. There is a German Tractengruppe that performs traditional Schuplattler dances at 6pm and again at 8pm. Its a great way to experience some German culture and fun without the expense of traveling to Germany.

We have been coming here for years! Bring your table cloths, games, and happy attitudes. Enjoy wursts, sauerkraut, potato salad, pretzels, and spatzle (spatzen). The band plays a mix of classics and Bavarian. Come see the dancers in their dirndls and leiderhosen! Prost!

Open on the last Saturday of June, July and August, its an outdoor beer hall and picnic featuring a polka band, german and domestic beer, and traditional german-american food (Wurst, spaetzle, sauerkraut, pretzels). Happens rain or shine. Be prepared for a long line when they open at 4pm. ?$5 to get in, and be sure to bring cash: you exchange cash for tickets which are then used to purchase food and beverages inside the park or can be exchanged for cash again upon leaving if you didnt spend them all.

I made it to their midsummer event last year. The atmosphere, the people, the music, all great!! However, I was more than a little disappointed with the food. I was expecting authentic German. The food I was served was far from it. There was no variety whatsoever. Brat, kraut, and spatzen....The bratwurst was decent being Dearborn brand, but the sauerkraut tasted like it was fermented in an old musty gym sock. It was terrible!! The spatzen was meh with a tiny dab of gravy on it. I mean the gravy was so skimpy it was like why bother?I happened to be sitting at a table that had a foreign exchange student in her late teens from Germany, and an engineer working in the area from Germany. They both thought the food was terrible and were not afraid to say so! In fact the German exchange student made visible faces when trying the food and you could tell she was not happy with it at all! She ate the brat and left the rest....I would give this event 5 stars all day long if they had better food. I dont know what kind of German cuisine the other posters had to qualify German Park food as great, but it must have been pretty bad to call the food at this event great. It most definitely is not!!!
