This is actually a fantastic, compact collection! Even better, the director of the museum sits right there and is super friendly and insightful. I thought that it might only be a small collection but surprisingly, it was quite decent! It’s only a 30 minute walk from downtown so make the effort if you’re visiting

Excellent museum about the history of Alaska that had surprisingly free admission. Wells Fargo staff were very helpful, as the museum is not easily visible from outside the corporate building. Small space holds priceless artifacts including old journals.

There are a number of beautiful native art pieces at this museum. If you enjoy a great Sydney Laurence painting, this the the place to be. The museum is free to the public and the main branch also has a number of Sydney Laurence paintings to view for free. The current curator, Tom Bennett, is always a pleasure to speak with and a wealth of knowledge.

Its there, but you could hardly call it a museum. It does have a few nice pieces. I think exhibit is a better term for it.

Really great collection of Alaskan art and artifacts. Unfortunately, it seems they have distributed the original NBA collection to various Wells Fargo branches around Anchorage so it isnt as complete as it used to be, and if there is something specific you want to see you may have to drive around.

I make a trip to this museum every time I have a friend or family visit. Each time I go I learn something new. This collection was donated by a local family and I have seen them visit with friends as well. Ask the curator about the family! They are interesting and have had quite the impact on the community. At times a piece will be taken out of the case for viewing up close. There are books that can be referenced with special appointment as well. The curator is very warm and engaging, but you have to set the tone (hey! Im open to talking and learning!) Or he will leave you in peace to browse. He also has a traveling collection that he takes to local schools where kids have a chance to handle and touch the items as well as talk about them. For such a small place it has a huge amount to offer. Oh, if the door is closed but not locked, please feel free to go in. If its closed and locked, knock (loudly) and give him a moment. When he is working in the back he locks the door for security. Feel free to step into the lobby of Wells Fargo as well to see ivory carvings and other displays. There is artwork throughout the building, but special access is required, talk to the curator. Have fun! You will be glad you made the effort.

Ive been going to this bank for over a year and never noticed this museum until today. its very little, but they have some really interesting real artifacts. its free which is always nice.

I will definitely go here again! I found this little museum to be extremely well curated. Small in size but I could easily have spent 2 hours here.

Great collection in a small space, with a variety of decorative and functional items as well as maps and coins. The descriptions are interesting and I learned a lot about Alaskan life. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Stopping in for 10 minutes or over an hour are both worthwhile!

Great little museum; compact but incredibly interesting. It houses a collection of prehistoric Alaska artifacts, native crafts, more modern artifacts, scrimshaw, an original kayak, a few historical paintings and much more. Also has a fairly good size research library relating to Alaskan history and culture. Free admission, too. The caretaker, Walter, provided mini-tours of many of the artifact cases for us as well.

Its not at all clear from the outside, but this is on the first floor of the Wells Fargo building. It was interesting, educational, and free! Its very nice of them to provide this for the community, and if youre on a budget it may be a nice alternative to the Smithsonian exhibit.

This museum is a hidden gem. Its primarily oriented toward indigenous peoples, and early Alaska history. The museum is small, but has great artifacts and a knowledgeable staff.It is sponsored by Wells Fargo, but doesnt cover the history of Weeks Fargo.
