I really love this store. The staff is knowledgeable, they regularly have sales for used tanks, and are happy to order whatever livestock youre interested in.My only complain is their bettas. I know cups are the norm, but it breaks my heart to see them like that. They only have 10ish in at a time and I dont understand why they dont create some more appropriate temporary homes for them. I dont know anything about their betta breeders, but I appreciate that they arent trafficking them from the wild at the very least.

First time visiting, staff was very helpful, I just wanted to browse and see what they had and that was no problem, staff were cleaning tanks and were still happy to offer help and answer questions, tanks all looked clean with healthy fish.

The staff are helpful and they are COVID conscious. Everyone was wearing masks, and there were masks available if someone forgot theirs. Some neat specimens available!

Great variety, my previous visit I left a review that had three stars and I feel a single visit isnt a good indicator for the quality of this store. The selection of fish is near impossible to beat here in Alaska and the staff are quite knowledgeable. The fluval 207 filter I got had a broken locking mechanism but nothing super glue couldnt fix. The prices are pretty good.

Great hidden gem in Anchorage. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The quality of the fish is top notch. The staff obviously cares about the product. The coral nursery is just cool. They go out of their way to show our kids the fish and coral taking the time to explain the types. Repeat customers and will go no where else from now on.

No reason to go anywhere else in Anchorage for fish. This is a local shop with good prices and a crazy selection of fish (fresh and salt water). If you are into Betta fish, you must visit this place. They get new fish every Thursday. I am experienced in the hobby, and they always have some fish I have never even heard of. You can also gets plants, rocks, driftwood, and aquarium supplies. Quite often they also have used tanks for sale. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Just be prepared to have a wait, as they are always very busy. Hands down the best fish store by a mile.

If your needs arent their specialty, they have no problems pointing you in the right direction. A+ service and I can be pretty tough to make happy.

Best place in Alaska to get fish. Their employees always take care of their fish and always gives tips for your fish and make sure you are fit to take care of them. They also take orders of fish so they always have what you need. Have a wide selection of Freshwater and Saltwater fish. They also have Crabs, crayfish, Frogs, and Axolotls. Very reasonable prices and have fish in a range of sizes.

Love this place, but the staff is super dude-oriented. I keep being asked if Im working on a school project even though I manage a stock facility. Also, it took a month to get my order in. That being said, their tanks are impeccable, their prices are very reasonable, and their staff is so knowledgeable. All of their fish are very VERY well cared for. But stop treating me like a kid when Im there to order a bunch of supplies for my facility.

The staff was very helpful when costumers, such as I, would ask about the fish and what their needs are. The staff is also very blunt about the fish and told us that some fish just werent compatible which I respect. I would recommend this place to anyone with a tank big or small, way better selection then Petco by far.

These guys are the absolute best. They went completely above and beyond and out of their way to help me out. Tim the owner is not only great himself but he has an amazing staff that cares about his clients as much as he does. Being a business owner, thats very impressive. They are courteous, kind and so willing to give the best customer service possible. I feel they are the best in the industry in Alaska! I give them my highest recommendation!!!!

The staff here is always helpful. Very knowledgable people. If the person youre working with doesnt know the answer, someone else in the store does. Things are a bit pricey here, although the quality of life for these fish & corals seems very good.

This is a low key store. They will ask if you need help and, if you say no, will leave you alone to peruse at your leisure. Very knowledgeable and helpful once you are ready. Fresh and salt water setups including used tanks at great prices. They have new varieties of plants and fish every week.

Awesome store, friendly staff, and the live stock is top quality. The location site exterior has no curb appeal, but once youre able to view the fish they have, you will undoubtedly appreciate how their prices are so reasonable. Top quality, rock bottom price tags.....its the best place to shop for your aquarium needs in Alaska.

This place is simply the best fish store in the entire Anchorage/Valley area. They are where other places, including Pet Zoo, recommend to people for serious advice and products. They are also the only place around that consistently has live blood worms. Everyone who works there is extremely knowledgeable. And I dont just mean hobbyists who know more than the average person, I mean some of the staff are literally marine biologists who work there for fun.

Stopped in desperate for fiber for a 10 year old goldfish with a swim bladder problem. Pleasant encounter with knowledgeable staff member. Left with 10 minutes later with a bag full of plants for $20. Much better deal than the large chain stores where you can buy one plant in a cylindrical tube for $6.Our office has used Alaska Coral for years as a source for everything we need for a saltwater tank. Their knowledge and resources keep us loyal.

Took care of my fish while I moved to south Dakota and then when I was ready and tank set up sent them too me. Lost one fish due to mishandling on Deltas part not theirs had they not been sent further than expected Im almost certain all would have survived. They do a great job of shipping. Thank you for all the help.

This place is great, its the only place in town where you get knowledgeable staff that are actually happy to help. The fish are all gorgeous and very healthy (also not found else where in town). Tim (the guy in charge) is a doll. He knows his stuff about fish, corals and tanks. Its a tiny store but is still worth the drive across town because its all such high quality. (frankly I would still go there to get my fish if I lived in the valley) I have given up on keeping saltwater for a while but seeing the amazing variety of corals and fish that he offers and talking about his tanks still makes me itch to go all out and buy a 250 gal to fill with his beauties.IF you are a fresh water or salt water enthusiast of any kind.. and IF you want to only work with the finest quality fish and coral of your hobby.. and IF you want to enjoy the purchasing process... then you have only one choice of where to go and its Alaska Coral Maniacs. Kids in a a candy shop. I havent bought fish in years because I need to set up a quarantine tank. I let down my boundaries because all tanks are separate and not on one big system and bought around $100 worth of tropical fish. Looking at all the tanks I suspected one tank had a tick and being in the candy shop unfortunately I purchase some of those fish forgetting my observation. After a couple hours Im looking at my new fish at home & I noticed 5 rainbow tetras had ick. I separated them from my tank with the bags that they came in and proceeded to treat them heavily and a half dose of my own 55 gallon aquarium. I called Alaska Coral and ask them to check the tank where I had purchased the fish and they confirmed that the tank has ich and were totally apologetic& very helpful. It happens but I even told the staff when I arrived every time I purchase fish I seem to get ick. I know people that purchase fish at Shady stores and never get ick. Its just something that Im fortunately at I guess. The staff was awesome and were concerned and reminded me on ways to cure the problem. The rainbow tetras spent about six days in their plastic bags and I was concerned about them not eating. I had separated them into four different plastic bags as to have less stress and compatibility. Lowered lights. I have baby guppies which I fed them but not all of the tetris ate. IT all came out for the best and they are swimming in my tank a month or more later. All new fish are very enjoyable. I will buy my face there again because the staff the super knowledgeable and are very good people. They gave me their personal cell phones so that I could call with my concerns. Above and beyond the Call of Duty. Thanks Guys. Did he say Duty!!

First time here and what a hidden gem! The staff are courteous, very knowledgable and willing to spend the time on whatever it is you came in for. I came in to figure out ways to save my poor little $10 Petzoo betta and they did it for me. Thanks guys! Ill definitely be back!

The staff is very knowledgeable and that alone makes this place worth visiting before you go to somewhere like Petco or Walmart where the staff know absolutely NOTHING and dont care. The employees at Alaska Coral & Fish are super helpful, can answer all your questions from what to do about water PH problems to what kind of fish work best in a tank together, and theyre always friendly.

If you keep fish or want to get into the hobby you have to go here at least one time. Awesome place with great employees and owner. Love this shop. They do have a cheaper used selection they keep tucked away, just ask, they wont make you feel bad about skemping on the cost.

I went in on a Tuesday and bought a catfish. I went back on Thursday to get some cichlids and they helped me pick the best fish to coexist with my catfish. I was in there for an hour talking with the staff and having good conversations.

The people here are amazing, and the store is just breathe taking. I went in looking for a betta, and they gave me so much info on not just bettas, but any other fish I asked about and about aquariums and what I could do better for my fish. I highly recommend them first above all for anything fish related. They dont sell fish for a profit. They have such passion for fish and the care for them. Its beautiful.
