The place was truly magical- complete with harbor seal that would cruise by the resort to say hello. Despite all of the restrictions due to Coronavirus and the wildfires, my kids had a great time searching for sea glass, discovering the colorful rocks and shells, and playing in the water. The cabin (#5) was super cute, warm, clean and had everything we needed. The kids loved the loft sleeping area and the ground floor bedroom was cozy. And every single one of the staff we met was so incredibly nice! Lets just say, I loved GIR so much that I was starting to plan our next trip there as we were driving away.

Really relaxing. Their property is on the beach which puts your private cabin just steps from the waters edge. I will return for more.

Picturesque Views!! Amazing guest services, accompanied by spectacular accomodations. Fishing, games, boating, crabing and kayaks! Without a doubt, the most amazing wedding event weve ever attended with all the above, great food, family and a total celebratory package. Book in advance for your events to make for the perfect getaway. Not to rustic, yet far enough off the beaten path to provide you all the trimmings of a great vacation/family gathering/wedding or business event. Five Stars!

Wonderful resort to just wind down and relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the water and views to the east. No TV, but good wifi near the admin building. Some movie selection, but mostly kids movies. This was our first stay here and the cabin was well appointed with a full kitchen and comfortable furniture. No fancy restaurants on the island. There is only the General Store just off the ferry terminal that, as of this writing, is practicing Covid precautions. But they do have a decent menu for takeout. The General Store is only serving the menu for takeout from Wednesday to Sunday. The island is not that big. Great bike riding. The locals are very relaxed and friendly. They always wave as they pass you by. A nice, short hike to the top of Guemes Mountain. The resort provides sit on top kayaks and paddleboards. If you have your own sea kayak great paddling around here. But currents on the west and north side of Guemes Island can get goofy. Check the current tables for sure before venturing too far. We were there at almost the start of the off season. I suspect during the summer with more families present it may be noisier. For us older folks the calm was wonderful especially when inclement weather set in. Wed come back for sure. But maybe more in the off season. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating too.

Staying in a cabin at Guemes Island Resort would be an excellent $150/night experience, but for $280+, we will not be returning. The view is beautiful and the paddling is lovely. The old cabins are cozy. As a farm kid stuck in the city for now, I love lowkey rustic settings, and this area definitely checked that box. However, a lower price would be appropriate given the quality of the experience, here is why:1. Our plumbing backed up into the shower prior to our check in, which was concerning and made us wonder if the shower had been cleaned at all between guests. When we went to shower, we were met with several inches of icky standing water. We were allowed to use the shower in an unoccupied cabin, but not offered new lodging until after the repairs had taken place (which involved a lot of digging out back of the cabin the next day). We had to specifically ask that the sewage be cleaned out from the shower before we used it.2. The cabin had a pervasive odor of wet dog. By the second day, both of us who have mild allergies to some dogs had to drive to the general store for Claritin, and to be honest this ruined our second night in the cabin, sniffling and waiting for it to take effect instead of spending a romantic evening enjoying our second and last night. Weve both stayed at dog-friendly lodging before and never had this issue.3. Quiet hours are for guests only. Heavy equipment backing up/deliveries took place as early as 6:45 am. If you are a light sleeper, or like to sleep with your windows open for fresh air (see #2) and the sound of the waves, beware.4. The sauna is staff-only for the duration of COVID. Unlike on their website, the sauna is not available on any basis, including reservations, to guests. However, it was readily used by staff, which was frustrating to watch because the sauna/jump into the water experience was a big draw!5. There is only one small, crowded-in covered area to enjoy the outdoors when it is raining (as it often does in the area). There have been no accommodations made for COVID other than to kick guests out of the rec room area and make that rec room space a larger check in area where only staff are allowed to spend time together.6. Not much to explore by land. Because this is mostly a private residential island, every road but the main ones are plastered with no trespassing signs and most of the beaches are also no trespassing. If you do stay here, definitely paddle to Jack Island if you can. That was a big highlight of the experience!

Spent a weekend away with friends. It was the recharge we all needed. Enjoyed being on the water. Loved walking up and down the beach. Lots of fun sea life to enjoy. Kids enjoyed being able to run freely around the property with out the worry of traffic. Cabins were fine- clearly aging and well used but clean. Kitchen was fine for simple meals. Not stocked with all the items you may want but enough to get by. Bathroom was small and I was afraid to stand barefoot in the shower. We did enjoy the fireplace and putting together a puzzle while looking out at the water. Our group bought firewood for a fire in the evening in one of the pits- enough wood for a big fire all evening. Staff was friendly and helpful. Looking forward to many returns.

We had a more expensive room... Stuck back in the woods. It was very dark, dirty windows, broken blinds. Garbage under the futon couch. Kitchen cupboard hinge broken, hot tub luke warm and not able to adjust heat or turn on jets. No hair dryer but office had one. No housekeeping but only stayed 2 nights. Beautiful setting but needs some attention to details. Hope so... Would like to try it again.

A fabulous place for family, friends, events, or vacation! Also, some of the best views, atmosphere, and spaces. A perfect blend of modern amenities meeting a rustic charm. This allows for the fabulous ability to be in touch with nature, but still be comfortable in our unpredictable Pacific Northwest weather!

Beautiful place. Stayed in the Guemes House which is right on the water. Parking was easy and the house is well equipped. Everything was clean and it smelled fresh. With young kids that was important to me. If there is any complaint it was that the main area didnt have curtains on all windows which means the loft bed was exposed to the light. With sunset at 10pm and sunrise at 5am when we were there, that is not ideal. The curtains they have in the rooms do an okay job blocking light, but not great. Still those complaints are not worth taking off a star. We loved it.

Stayed 4 nights for my brothers wedding. Rented out the whole resort for the guests. Great facilities and service. Kayaks and boats available. Variety of lodgings from well equipped cabins to basic yurts. Food sources on the island are essentially non-existent so bring whatever you need before you come across the ferry. Would definitely stay here again.

Really lovely place thats perfect for a romantic getaway, event, workshop, artist or creative retreat. At once easily accessable and remote, a literal five-minute ferry ride from Anacortes gets you to woods and water. While the resort grounds themselves are somewhat sparse (the adjacent park is a large plot of grass) youre here for the ever-changing landscape of blues, greys and greens that the water and clouds create.Rental options and prices are diverse; choose a cabin with a full steam shower, wood stove and private tub, something more rustic and basic, or even a simple yurt in the warmer months.Theres a recreation room thats pretty run down, but has an ancient video game console as well as board games and jigsaw puzzles. And tails and beach for wandering. A resort fire pit is available (pack in your own wood or pay steeper prices at the resort.)The resort is open year round - for a quiet, peaceful getaway, avoid the tourist season. October - April and mid-week rentals will likely be quiet, if colder and rainy.
