Awesome theater with nice seats! We had a private showing of Billy Madison and it was well worth the $100! The theater manager was amazing and put in extra effort to make it perfect! Highly recommend.

Went to see At War with Grandpa and the movie was phenomenal. We got to the theater a little early, no problem. Everyone running the counter was friendly, sweet, and on point. Honestly North Grand has the best customer service. Theater was spotless and the entire experience was fantastic.

I normally wouldn’t post anything, but I had to for this one. My husband and I were very excited to see a movie at this new theater, for our one year anniversary. Upon arriving (whole area is empty mind you), The employee at the register looked at me and said I would need to wear a mask since that is their policy. My husband was wearing one, and I explained that I could not since I had asthma (underlying medical condition). She said OK. Then a minute later as I was trying to order coffee, she said she needed to go check in the back to see if it was decaf or regular. I thought that was kind of odd. Another minute later, the manager comes storming out yelling at us saying I have to wear a mask. I again tried to explain that I could not, he kept yelling and saying that I was refusing and that we could leave. I was trying to calmly talk to him, but he would not listen and kept on yelling. I asked if they had a mask we could buy (to wear for the 50 feet to our theater room), he said he did and he kept on yelling saying I wasn’t putting my mask on fast enough, when in fact we were just trying to buy it so I could put the mask on. He then kept yelling at my husband saying his mask was not on properly. We finally walk away and sit in our theater room waiting for our movie. The whole evening felt kind of ruined after all that, but the movie was really good (Tenet, you should see it!). No one should be treated or yelled at in that way. It could’ve been so much different, if the manager politely explained that there was a mask I could purchase to wear until we got to our theater room. Be a kind human first please. And get your emotions in check before you talk to a customer.

Overall, pretty good experience, will definately return again. Pros: I like these chairs better than the other place, concessions, I think are a little cheaper too, classier employees, got a mint on my way out from an employee... Cons was dialogue was a little hard to hear were I was, some fixtures in bathroom didnt work. Other than that, looking forward to returning soon!

Love everything about it except the popcorn. Thats a big deal for me. Popcorn is part of the holy Trinity of the movie experience. I dont know man you can have all the toppings in the world but if its not good popcorn its a fail. Fix your popcorn. Youre better than that. Then I will give you 5 stars.

Great local business to spend time watching a movie and having a few treats. For those that like a craft beer or other non-traditional beverage, they have a good selection. Seats are comfortable, sound and visuals are good, and the staff makes you feel like you belong there. We are repeat customers and we will continue to spend our movie watching time at this location.

I absolutely love this place! A hidden gem in Ames.The staff is friendly, they have a large selection of food and drink (including alcohol, gourmet sodas, and hot food), and theres never a bad seat. The tables even fold out over the seats which makes for great movie snacking. Check it out!

I’m literally laying back almost all the way in a seat plenty big for me. Two cup holders, a table, choices of food and drink - current movies. This theater used to be run down $2 movie place. Not anymore! It’s lovely, clean, comfortable and wonderful. Treat yourself!

Love this place. Staff were friendly. Popcorn and drinks were great. Love the comfortable seating. We had two adults and five grandchildren. There was plenty of room to walk down isle so I could take care of kids during movie. Everyone had a good experience.

Its an independent theater, the movie prices are better, the seating is at least as good as the chain theaters in the area. Give it a try, I dont think youll be disappointed. Oh, we saw It Chapter 2. Very good.

High quality service, amazing seats, and fantastic food. This theater has been renovated and offers a truly boutique experience. They have a great bar and everyone who works here is very friendly. The theater shows current films and offer movies in 3D as well.

The recliners are nice and comfy and I love a (rare) theater that sells Pepsi products - love me some Diet Dew!

Best theater in town. The staff is friendly, the seats are super comfortable and roomy, and the beverage selection is great. And I love reserve seating. After avoiding movie theaters for a while this place made me enjoy going out to the movies again.

The snacks are reasonably priced especially for how much you get, the seats are nice and theres lots of room to stretch out. The employees always seem to be nice too!

I usually hate theaters, so I went expecting a sub-par experience but I was very happy when I left! The sound was great, the chairs were comfy, and the popcorn was awesome. The staff were all very friendly, particularly the young lady with the purple tie who helped me carry my snacks! I had a wonderful experience here. Definitely recommend!

Been here many times. Clean, friendly staff, comfortable roomy seating, and you can relax and have an alcoholic beverage. The only thing Id change is to have more of a variety for snacks. Will always come back to this theater.

Their seats recline more and have tables! I like this theater the most in Ames. Friendly staff. Great variety of kids and adult beverages.

Recliners are very nice and comfortable. I like how easy it is to walk between rows. I like the options for food and beverages. I was also very glad that they started booking tickets through fandango instead of their own website for the reserved seats. Oh, and reserved seats for the theater are awesome so you can get a good seat even if youre a little late to the theater.

A decent cinema with really comfortable seating arrangement. However, the walls are not padded properly and you can occasionally hear noises from adjacent halls.

I enjoyed the theater very much. But the 16oz coffee for 3$ was a disappointment, it tasted as if was sitting out all day. The quality of the coffee wasnt worth 3$. However, I love the reclined seats and space between the person you were sitting by, the little tables attached to the seats were pretty sweet.I recently had returned to this theater. I love the menu options and the seating arrangements. This time around was nice.

Love the atmosphere and the Theatre Seats. Kind of has a Ma and Pa feel in a good way. Prices are very reasonable. Employees are very polite and nice.

Great movie theater with luxury seats that lay back. They have concessions that can be somewhat pricey, but thats how movie theaters work. Depending on where youre sitting, and if there are people in front of you, you may need to lean back the seats in front of you to get a better view, but only if theres no one sitting there. They also accept moviepass cards. You choose your seats there on a screen with an employee. I think this place is great!

Amazing experience there. They have nice workers are fun and inviting. The prices are more than reasonable and the lounge chairs are amazing for watching movies. It’s not super big but it is quite cute for is size and you don’t expect too much noise from crowding while you there. It’s the best cinema in Ames in my opinion

Super comfy seats, great popcorn, friendly staff, and one of the managers even came around with mints for everyone after the movie and asked us how we liked it. That was such a great touch!

North Grand Cinema is an amazing place to spend an evening. The people who work their are always very nice. Also the chairs are very comfortable , and overall the movie theater is very relaxing.

Definitely love the seating. The trays are super helpful and the seats are very spacious for those with wider hips and legs. Everyone is super nice and very helpful. Definitely our favorite theater in town.

Decent prices, small theaters, very little gradient to the floor. Theaters smell kind of like hay. These theaters do have reclining seats and make it easier to see the screen from the front couple rows.

Very good theatre. Could definitely tell its brand new. Smaller size theatre rooms which means you have a good seat almost anywhere. Acoustics in the room were good with clear audio. They sell beer and craft sodas not to mention the popcorn of course. The seats recline pretty far back which is also nice. Its also priced well! Highly recommend.

Walked in and waited at the register to get tickets, manager walked over told us we were at the wrong counter, we apologized, and he said he could help us get seating if wed like.We asked to see available seats for Spiderman . Was told to lose the attitude. We looked puzzled and the manager told us to lose the attitude or leave the theater. We left, I do not recommend this cinema, go elsewhere to be treated well.

My friend and I visited on opening day and they were great. Upper management was open to questions and were very instructive in teaching their employees how to run things. Amazing seats that are comfortable and recline and even better customer service. Very pleased!

Comfy reclining seats, but the screen is little small and the sound isnt up to par for a cinema. Definitely try to got middle or middle front seats.

Aside from the reclining seats and table to place your various assortment of snacks, i enjoyed going to see a movie here because of the staff.I had never been here before and want used to the choices they have or the ability to select your seat at the register. The people at the counter didnt get annoyed with me, they walked me through my choices setting as i was a little overwhelmed, the theyre in my town doesnt have any of this. I was especially surprised that when i had trouble carrying my big kid drink as they called it as well as my coke and popcorn, the guy at the front counter told me hed carry it in for me.They even offer you a mint after your movie, thats just cool.

Enjoyed my experience here. Tickets and concessions were similarly priced to the other theater in town and I thought my can of local craft beer was reasonably priced. We arrived about 20 minutes before our show and the only row with seats next to each other was the front, but because the chairs recline, it wasnt too bad. Usually movie theaters are ice cold, but I was pretty warm at our show, however it was also 100 outside. Staff was polite, restrooms were clean.

They do not force you to take a receipt when you buy snacks. If you ask them to throw out the receipt, they will do that! I will definitely be coming back.

Yes.Plush seats that recline pretty close to a flat 180.Bar with local brews and wine (full bar coming soon). Craft sodas and fresh popcorn.Drinks are 6.00...if they had $4-5 beers I would be here for happy hour.

This is a good theater. I hope it stays open for a long time. Parking lot is usually full so I hope its doing well. I like the service staff here, and the seats are comfortable.

This old Mall Five buried in the back of North Grand Mall has never looked better. Really nice job with the interior decor. The 4k laser projection (apparently in all five auditoriums?) is amazing. The downfall is the sound...its way too low. Nice Warren Theatres-like touch with the guy offering mints to people as they exited the auditorium after the feature.Really great that the advertised ticket price online is the actual ticket price...no additional taxes or convenience fees even when purchasing online.

The cinema is better than when it first opened, but the exit sign next to the screen can be distracting. Its so close, the lower left side of the screen always has a red hue.

Went to see Solo. Got the last seats in the place, in the back row near the exit. Comfortable seats but they need to be elevated a few inches because if you recline too far the bottom part of the screen is out of the line of vision. Some irritating behavior by two people in the audience; one woman using her cell phone flashlight to roam back and forth, seemingly to try to find someone, and a giant man stalking out in an apparent fit of rage; only to be escorted out by the police several moments later.

Popcorn was amazing, seating was very comfortable, and the staff was professional and nice. Unfortunately, the very first movie we saw at the theatre had problems with the projection shaking on the screen. We waited about 10 minutes but decided to just get a refund as it was still not fixed. Nothing to make me stay away from the theater in the future, but still an unfortunate experience for our first time going to the theater.

Went opening night of Avengers: End Game. A/C wasnt on/working. By the end of the movie, everyone was sweating. Then mgmt argued with me like I was an idiot and the system was working. Wont be back. 2 stars for nice seats though.
