Its a small but incredibly well kept wooded park with trails and camping. I always feel so isolated from people when I go trail running. Very beautiful place.

Great place to enjoy with family for a picnic & short hike. You can even bike ride on the trails & kayak in the bayou if you like. Free & open to public & park rangers on site if there are any questions or issues. We love coming here due to the fact that it is very clean & not as crowded as other parks in Alvin.

We used the playground (it was too muddy to hike) and the public restroom. Kids of all ages had a blast. I appreciated the different levels of the big kid swings, which enable even the little guys to have a great time swinging without too much help. If you have a toddler or preschooler, you will want to monitor them closely on the main play area. Some of the openings in the equipment are very high off the ground. The best part is the twisting slide, easily 15+ feet off the ground. We will definitely be back!I did consider their cabins for a couples getaway but quickly changed my mind when I learned they only have twin and double beds. Get a king size for one of your cabins, Camp Mohawk, and we will be happy to stay, and I bet a lot of others will agree!

Good park for general park use, but trails are inaccessible to those not staying overnight, and its terrible for fishing! Can use only a small portion of the pond because the rest of it is blocked off, despite there being benches on the other side. What use are these if no one can use them? They need to open it all the way around during seasons when no one is staying overnight. Also, the fishing area has snags everywhere really close to the bank. Has cost me hard to find/expensive tackle and lures every time I have tried to fish here. Always close to the bank which is freaking ridiculous. Even running weedless will not work. I tried to 50 pound line today and still lost 2 rigs within 10 minutes of being there. Even my rescue pole with higher rated braid could not pull whatever the obstruction is out of the water in front of the big tree and I had to snap the line on both poles. Not happy. If youre a finesse or bottom fisherman, go to resoft park or something. This place is only good for float fishing, and even that isnt a guarantee because of their massive trees that are in the way, so if you attempt to overhand cast to a hot bank location there is a 98% chance of getting stuck in a tree or underwater root. Those lures you see hanging from the trees are probably mine. Im done with this place. They need to spend time cutting trees and cleaning the water. They should reimburse me for the cost of lost tackle!

Its a really nice park thats a hidden gem to this area.My dogs really enjoy running around and playing in the puddlesIve seen several diffetent species of snakes and other wildlife so if you have little kids you need to pay attention to your surroundingsYou can go fishing in Chocolate Bayou anf the other ponds. There are ducks and geese that you can feed out of your hand and interact with to an extentThe childrens toys and play area up front are kept up with very well and Ive seen lots of families playing on them over the years. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is due to the park ranger she has a bit of an ego and has tried to run several people off from the back area. She claims you need to pay a fee to be in certain areas even though there are not any sign or postings stating that any where.
