This is definitely an underrated spot in the middle of PA. The admission fee is only $5 per person, and a thorough tour is included. (BTW, on some particular days they have events with higher admission.) We really appreciated to have this lady as our tour guide. She was happy to answer all our questions and she accompanied us for quite a while, almost showed us everything. It was a very informative tour indeed and got an idea of how the life was like in 18 century. Other staff did a great job showing us some cool stuff too. Other than that, there are several trails you can choose from and take a walk around the fort. We did the nearest and shortest one, and it was quite pleasant. Although this replica(rebuilt in 1970s) is much smaller than the original one, we still enjoyed our visit a lot and hope more would discover this historic site, which can be dated back to 1778!State College附近沒太多有趣的地方可去,所以滿推薦可以來這裏走一趟知性之旅。

This was one of those random - saw a sign on the highway and needed a break from the car - kind of stops. I had never heard of fort roberdeau before today. It is fantastic. I went with my boyfriend. There are 3 parts of the tour. On each part we had very knowledgeable guides. Our favorite part was interacting with the living history interpreter. If you are in the area and have a curiosity about a frontier fort this is a great stop. The drive to get there is quite lovely as well.

I was very surprised that this place was this nice. We had a group of 12 people and they easily accommodated us. We got a private tour with guides in 18th century clothes and were very knowledgeable about the fort and the history. Nice facility and I will be back.

We decided to go here on our vaction after seeing things to do in Altoona, PA on the internet. We werent sure what to expect, but we werent disappointed either. This is a hidden treasure near Altoona, PA. If you are ever in the area and even barely like US History, this is a must stop. It is a little off the main road but well worth the time getting there. It took us about 15 minutes from our hotel in Pinecroft, PA. They had a short video to view before the tour along with some features in their little museum. Our guide in the picture was very knowledgeable of the time period and the who, what, why and when of the fort. They have an original Conestoga wagon with all of the natural parts(except the canvass).

Nice historic place to visit. Its a bit in the middle of nowhere BUT thats also how it was when it in use.I strongly recommend viewing the video before you visit the grounds, its been recently updated and is very informative. The tour guides try their best to be informative as well but as with other things some guides are very knowledgeable and other not quite as good but they do all try their best to make the tours informative, educational and interesting.

History comes to life ... yes its not authentic and only a re-creation, but there is enough attention to detail and such that allows you to take a peak into a very historic site that played an important role during the revolutionary war.

We visit several historic forts and this one is definitely a place to see. Guided tours are awesome as well as their honesty about how it should be due to inaccurate information during the rebuild. Several events are held throughout the year. We will deffinetly be back

My wife and I visited Fort Roberdeau today, and I must say it is a very nice facility with a lot of history attached to it.However, when we first got there, there were no other guests there. The young lady the guided us was knowledgable but as we were going through more guests arrived and she rushed us through to go to the next group. Also a lot of the buildings were locked and no effort made to open them because we were the only oned there.Thumbs down !

Interesting place! We took our 7 year old twins and our kids were equally as interested as we were. Be sure to check out the Conestoga wagon in the barn! The volunteers and tour guides were all very friendly, informative, professional, and well-versed on the forts history. There are both covered and non-covered picnic tables....we walked around for a while, stopped for a relaxing lunch, then continued exploring.

A hidden gem. Sure its not the original fort but it holds a forgotten part of American Revolution history. How the Americans had to mine lead while keeping British allied Indians at bay because lead supplies were being blocked by the British navy from getting in. WWII reenactors were on site telling me about prisoners of war. I got to see both American and German uniforms.
