What an amazing place to go to. The best place for not only the physicality aspect of what you go there for, but the staff is so helpful and courteous to every want, need and question you have. I couldn’t have been happier or more satisfied with where to take my brother for his bachelor party. This place is a MUST. By far the best in Iowa

This is THE place to go in the metro for archery. The staff is extremely helpful, was welcoming, and I felt comfortable even as a novice who needed a lot of help figuring out what I needed. I never felt rushed despite the fact that they were busy both times I was in and they seemed to base what they recommended on what would work well for me, not what would be a higher dollar sale for them. Nick took plenty of time setting up my bow to fit ME making sure I would feel comfortable, confident, and accurate with it. You get time on the range before and after your purchase as a part of their package and the regulars there are also helpful and welcoming. Don’t waste your time at a big box store hoping you get someone who knows what they are doing, shop local and work with people who are dedicated to their customers and the craft.

Cool little indoor range. They were very friendly and accommodating my first time there. Only problem I had was my cross bow bolts were going pretty deep into the foam targets cause they were mostly for bows so I would recommend your own crossbow target just to be safe, but over all it’s a fun place for target practice out of the elements!

Took my crossbow there to get some help getting it sighted in. Despite being quite busy, the staff member working greeted me right away. As I browsed the shop while he finished helping the other customer, I was surprised at the selection for both vertical bow and crossbow. The staff member re-greeted me once he was done helping the first customer. I explained the problems I was having and he clearly explained all of the options and what each one entailed. Within 5 minutes of him speaking to me, I was walking out of the store with some items I purchased, and a clear understanding of what they were going to do with my bow, along with an estimate of the cost of said fix. Not 2 hours later the staff member called me, and told me that my bow was fixed. When I arrived back at the store, the staff member greeted me right away. He explained what he found, and took me out to range to allow me to test fire my bow to ensure it was fixed to my liking. I was extremely impressed, and could tell within 3 shots that it was dead on. The bottom line is, the staff here are super friendly and professional. The selection is more than any other archery shop around. The range is perfect for an indoor shoot. This is an awesome, all American family business. Cant recommend it enough.

Winners Choice could not get my new strings for my bow in a timely manner so I had Nick build custom strings for my bow. They were above and beyond expectations of quality strings and cables. People, if you want your bow tuned to its peak performance, this is where you go. You can go to the big box store where they will get your money and get you out the door or you can get your bow tuned to peak performance by people whos business are bows.....

Nick was absolutely amazing. He spent hours with my husband and I even when they were swamped, and made sure that he bought exactly the right bow for him. Thank you so much; we will be back over and over again! We visited 2 other stores before receiving this type of personal service and exceptional selection. You will not be disappointed here.Jason and Elizabeth

Go see Nick. I went in with a general idea of what I thought I wanted, and Nick spent hours, literally, walking me through each and every bow till I found exactly what I needed. Great guy, very knowledgeable, and willing to share his passion if you need guidance. Top notch place.

I chose these guys because of previous reviews. And let me tell you these guys are awesome; very knowledgeable staff that have a passion for what they do. I visited 3 other stores before I walked into Archery Field & Sports. Great selection and they will take all the time you need to set-up your bow and help you select what fits your needs and budget.

Took my 8 year old to introduce her to archery. Went in on a Saturday afternoon and they started class after about waiting five minutes. Gave her quick instructions and let her shoot as many arrows as she wanted for almost an hour for $17.50. Instructor was very encouraging and patient. Let her try out two different bows and move target closer. Would definitely go again.

Best place in Des Moines to go to for your Archery needs. They get busy at times, but that’s a testament to their customer service. These guys will spend hours with you making sure you leave there with exactly what you want or need. And if you have to go back, they pick right back up where you left off. I was in and out multiple times shooting different bows and talking to them about all the different accessory options. Finally settled in and got exactly what I wanted and theyve continued helping me with any questions or tweaks Ive needed ever since. You may find a few good deals at Bass Pro or Scheels, but buy from AFS and you wont be worried about getting the right gear or getting it set up correctly. They’ll continue to stay around for a long time to come.

There staff is great. My bow broke the other day and no one in town could get it fixed before i left town to go on a hunting trip last year and they did it in no time. They also took the time to get me all tuned back up and ready to go. They have a great selection of archery equipment and a great range. I would recommend them to anyone. They saved my hunt for me.

Called and asked if they sold bowstring materials, because I wanted to make my own. The person I spoke with said they did. I drove there and waited for about 30 minutes while other customers were seen to, before someone finally asked if I had been helped. I explained why I was there and was eventually seen by the person I spoke with on the phone, who said they only make bowstrings, they do not sell materials for this. It was a waste of my time. I can order what I need online, but thought I might try a local archery supply store. I will not go there again.

The staff at Archery Field and Sports go above and beyond every single time. I am a brand new to archery and this was the only store that walked me through the entire process of buying a bow and all of the accessories. This was my final stop in the process. I went to Scheels, Bass Pro, and Sportsmans Warehouse. Archery Field and Sports went above and beyond and was the only store that didnt treat me like the idiot I am when it comes to archery. When you spend that kind of money you expect to be treated like a human being and they certainly did. I highly recommend this place!! Thanks again guys. I look forward to the next time I can make it in to shoot.

I took my daughter (age 6) to Archery Field Sports to shoot for the 1st time. Ive only shot a handful of times in my life so we were greatful the staff there was so accommodating. They took the time to show her how everything works and made sure she was comfortable firing the bow. We spent about an hour on the range and she was hitting the target pretty consistently. Afterwards, they fitted her for a bow (Bear Cruzer Lite), set it up and dialed everything in to her size/strength, didnt charge us for the range and rental time and gave us 7 passes to come back to the range, additional lessons, etc. Planning on taking her big brother (8) and big sis (16) with us this week. Top notch staff, great local business.

I have had multiple bad experiences here. It all boils down to bad/rude service. The owners are rude, the archers that hang out here are arrogant and vulgar. My son and I had to leave the range early because of the disgusting expletive laced conversations between archers on the range. I bought a very nice and expensive bow here for my 8 year old son. A punch card for free range time was included. We have visited the range multiple times. Each time we were allowed to pull out 3D targets to shoot. That was the entire draw for my son, to shoot the animal targets. The last time we were there we were berated by an irate employee when we moved a target. We were told to use the older beat-up targets not the newer ones. Then Erv the owner came out and got in on it. Now I have a son who never wants to go there again and neither do I. We recommend doing business with any one else. Scheels, Bass Proshop, Sportsmans Warehouse, Mills Fleet Farm to name a few. These places may have less experienced archers but they will treat their customers with respect.

I have been bow hunting since teens and just recently moved to area looking for good bow shop other than Scheels or places like that, I wanted someone with experience. I purchased a Hoyt bow through another dealer but it didnt arrive before i moved so they shipped it to me, so I needed the bow set up. I went to Archery Field & Sport. They were so nice at first while i was spending $500 for new sites and accessories. Bow took almost 3 weeks to set up after they told me it would take 1. had to call almost every week. When I finally called on week 3 they said i could pick it up tomm. (they were working on it when i arrived). I told the owner I wanted silencers, Kisser. Owner stated I cant because there is no room, angle to sharp. I dont have one on my bow. Thats nice and all but customer doesnt care how you have your bow set up, they want it set up their way. I left store and returned today to get bow adjusted for no back wall, and shorten D-loop. Owner appeared irritated that he had to finish his conversation with locals hanging out and told me that there is no back wall in the new Hoyt bows. I asked was there any thing that I could do because I was not comfortable with this bow and that the bow I demod had a back wall and owner stated NO, Buy new bow. I grabbed my stuff and left. I will be contacting Hoyt and alerting their staff about this store and will never spend another dollar in there as well as telling all my hunting buddies about this experience. Sad when someone gets better service at a Chain store.
