First time playing there but definitely not the last! This course is challenging and fun with quite a few water hazards but overall I enjoy the course. Course employees were friendly and helpful! If you havent played here, I would recommend giving it a try!

Course was good. Played on a Saturday morning in mid June. Play was a little slow, took us 5 hours with a foursome, but wasnt really anyones fault, just busy. We paid $40 a person and for that price I thought it was fine. The ground was very firm, but its been hot. Beer was ~$3 a piece for those of you who care. Its about a 45 minute drive for me, but Id go back again.

Booked on golfnow and the guy at front desk says now that we have to pay another $17 each person. Booked golfnow all last year and never had a problem with having to pay extra for a cart. Does not say anything online about walking on golfnow.

What an odd mix of great and terrible holes! Fortunately, there are one or two more great ones than terrible ones. Also, for a property this (mostly) flat, due to the routing and limited bridges over the Riviére du Bois and its tributaries, its a surprisingly difficult course to walk. Case in point: #14 and #15 tees are right next to each other, meaning you play #14 and then have to walk essentially back the entire hole to get to the next tee. Dont forget to bring your waders for crossing the creek on #5 and #6!All that said, I did enjoy myself - bonus points for being open on New Years Day and greens in decent shape for winter. Id try it again in the summer.

Woodlands has got some hills to play on. The entire course is not hilly, numerous holes are on flat ground. Water hazards are located throughout the course, adding to the challenge. There are a few sand traps by the greens. The course is kept up very well, especially considering the heat of summer and the dry spell. The fairways were thick and kept mowed. The greens was in good shape, saw no dead patches of grass on them. This is not a hard course, but there is enough hazards to make it fun. Due to the hills, I would not walk the course. Golf carts were clean and ran well.I played on a Sunday and I thought the pace of play was a little slow. We were a few minutes shy of 5 hours to play 18. Several groups in front of us were in no hurry to play and move along. Saw no golf marshal on the course. All in all, for $33 I thought this was well worth the money. I can not think of a course which cost about the same price, which is maintained any better or laid out as good.

The woodlands golf club is an amazing place to have your wedding and reception. Brenda is an amazing person and great to work with. We had our ceremony and reception there and Brenda was there with me every step of the way. Without her I would not of had a clue what I was doing. She made everything go so smoothly. Everyone at the woodlands are so polite and friendly I have absolutely nothing negative to say. I highly recommend them.

Paid $13 with a hot deal through Golf Now and Im not sure its worth any more than that. Dont believe the pictures posted online. This course is full of hardpan lies, bombed out and gravel cart paths, and patchy greens. The hardpan lies are only further exacerbated by the course management spray painting a white, cart line around the approach and green areas. Because of this, any approach shots off the side of the green come to rest on a torn up semblance of rough because of cart traffic. Why not put up signage and force carts to go to the cart path prior to the green like every other course?Go elsewhere.

Melissa is wonderful to work with! I am planning my upcoming wedding and Melissa has gone out of her way to be helpful. This is all new to me and I have had a lot of questions and she is always kind and answers anything I ask. She has great insight and I appreciate her opinion. I look forward to my 2017 wedding in front of the beautiful barn on their property and our reception in the banquet hall overlooking the golf course. Prices are reasonable as well, which is always a plus!

I was quoted a lower price on the phone when booking my t-time and then charged 10.00 dollars more upon arrival. I wouldnt have minded if this price was originally quoted, but being charged more once I arrived has left a sour taste. I will never play this course again for this reason. Would not recommend.

The course was beautiful. Play was super slow and the young ranger was trying to help and was super nice but they had too many people at the same time. Waited 10 mins at each tee box.Front desk was terrible. Said he was to busy to helpsince they were so busy at the bar. Waited 15 mins with no service and all i wanted wad 2 waters. Amazing place to golf but the pro shop is ran by snobby teenagers.

I played this course for the first time this fall and subsequently went back a few times on vacation this Winter season and was really happy with the whole experience every time!! The track has a fun layout with some challenges but nothing gimmicky. The pro Scott was personable and honest about Winter golf and excited about the improvements and vision he has laid out for the course...price is great, 19th Hole staff was professional and outgoing..greens rolled true and nice carved holes so overall very highly recommended. When you go play just make sure to ask the Pro, who lays up from 210 yrds on a par 5??...lol

Intro:The Woodlands Golf and Country Club in Alton IL is one of many ways to spend a warm summer afternoon in July.Weather:When teeing off the temp outside was 105 deg. Winds were from the SE. Wooded areas where airflow was limited were sauna-like. A nice breeze in the open areas kept things comfortable.Greens:Smooth, minimal ball/spike marks. The ball rolled true, but slow.Bunkers:Poor bunkers, sand was hard and compacted. Local players rarely used the provided rake.Fairways:Zoysia was in good shape given the high temps and lack of rain in the area.Rough:Burnt and Crispy. No signs of watering.Tee Boxes:Zoysia tee boxes were in good shape. We played the black tees.Pace of Play:For the most part very good. We played 18 holes in three hours, mainly because we accidentally hit into and played thru a foursome of blue-shirted dudes wandering around looking for golf clubs. A threesome of dudes playing pink golf balls also allowed us to play thru. Most Memorable hole:Gotta go with 18, a daunting par 5. Second shot is uphill towards the club house. Someone decided to paint WOODLANDS on the retaining wall behind the green. Great idea, I aimed at the W, and landed a 4iron 10ft from the hole, before rolling in an eagle.Cost:Paid $27 for 18 with cart.Cart:The cart was gas, poor acceleration, average handling.Overall:3/5, would recommend if you live in Alton and want a local course to practice at.

If your looking for a fun challenging course the woodlands is one of the best courses in its area. On top of that the staff are one of the friendliest that ive encountered. The General Manager, who also happens to be the course pro Scott Schaefer,. even gave me a tip on how to fix my swing. Ill definitely be back to play golf there and i recommend anyone looking to golf in the STL metro area to do the same!
