It’s a nice place to go for a walk. It’s shaded for most of the walk to which is nice.I hope they start repairing some of the walk ways or just expand it more. You can walk this very quickly. I think it’s a nice place to take your date but only when it’s cool or spring.I hope they do more with their garden areas, place has much more potential than They give it but I guess it’s not all there for the public but research too.5 stars if it was kept up more for the public with more.

This little park is just the bees knees.Since moving to the area a few years ago, I’ve been lucky to live just 2 minutes away from this hidden gem. There’s a lot of foot area for exploring on their trails (most of which are on risen wooden boardwalks), plus the playground and of course the lake towards the back of the park where there’s always someone fishing. There’s a butterfly garden near the parking/playground areas where I’ve seen massively cool looking caterpillars, incredibly deep colored flowers, and a plethora of butterflies. My one complaint about this park is that it’s closed on weekdays (it’s closed Mon-Wed). I used to have another complaint regarding the trolley, but now that the pandemic has affected everything, there is no more trolley (yay!). You used to have to park on the other side of the main street to ride a trolley if you wanted to get in the park on weekends. Never made sense to me.If you want to disconnect from the noise of the city, the news, and everything else, but cant go too far from home? Come here. If you easily find the magic in nature, this place is quite the adventure compared to most other parks in the area. You will be absolutely delighted.

We stopped by for a nice afternoon walk with the family. We parked on property as it wasnt crowded at all. We spend about 90 minutes walking the boardwalk (some closed for repair) and mulch paths. What a find! On weekends, cars cannot enter the park, but there is plenty of free parking across 414, and they run a shuttle. There are several miles of walking trails, some mulched, some boardwalks. We had no idea how big it was from the road. The walks are easy for kids, and we enjoyed identifying birds and turtles. There is a fishing area, too. And while we didnt see any alligators, we heard them.

Interesting place to birdwatch. Seen snakes, gators, owls, turtles, bunnies and a bunch of lizards. Theres different trails to take but its all one big circle. You can trek in the woods or stay on the boardwalk. Theres a beautiful waterfront where fishing is allowed, just dont get your line catch in the brush. Bathrooms are available. Expect natural lighting for the bathroom. A playground is there with swings for the young children. Remind them its always best to take out the trash they bring in. A small community library is there. Take a book or leave a book, just keep the door closed! No bikes or pets. Please try to remain quiet and respectful of the other birdwatchers.

One time I met there bobcat with kittens. Also you see alligators in the lake. Every time when I visit this park, I find something new as flowers, birds. If you are going here with bicycle, it has special parking inside of park. Dont forget to take repellent for mosquitos. Sometimes you can meet them there too )

This is a tucked away beautiful wetlands park with close to 2 miles of boardwalk to explore. Yes, the first time I went the park was closed. They are only open Thursday-Sunday with varying hours in winter and summer. They dont allow dogs & bikes and they will only let you park in the park on Thursdays and Fridays because parking is very limited. On the weekends you park off site across the road, but can take a tram or simply walk under the main road through a tunnel. It is worth trying the park because it is a beautiful and peaceful walk with no crowds. Its a glimpse into old Florida or what that whole area would have looked like before our subdivisions took over. In my many walks through the woods and wetlands I have seen baby gators, big gators, rabbits, barred owls, blue herons, egrets, red shouldered hawks, anhingas, and other birds I cant name. Although I dont fish, you can fish there too, but need a license.Good for walkers, nature lovers, bird watchers, photographers, and kids, with the best time to go in the morning before it gets too hot.

The website should be updated more often to save visitors the wasted trip. I do understand that when it rains it is closed, but it has not rained in days. The parking is also an issue. The park is in a very pretty quiet little nestled away area. I loved the boardwalk and got to see some beautiful Barred Owls. Also saw a baby gator and some Anhinga. There were some people fishing off of the boardwalk in a designated area. The trails are shaded mostly and easy to walk on. The playground area is very noisy of course if there is kids there.I went on a Sunday. I imagine its quieter during the week. There is a small butterfly garden that was lovely to see. You can ride your bikes into the park but must lock your bikes up on a rack. Also no pets allowed. (No Dogs!) that is not mentioned anywhere until you arrive at the park. Why 2 stars you might ask? The parking situation is very frustrating. Parking across as down the steet is not enjoyable. Its a pretty good walk to get to the park. Plus you have to cross Maitland blvd which I did not like. I imagine it would be a little scary if you are trying to get your kids over there as well. Once you do all that and cross the street, there is still More walking to do down a paved road to get the park area where the playground is and the trails start. The way to tell if the park is open is basically a sign they post on the front gate. There is a lot of times I do not understand why it is closed. Parking across the street caused issues for us getting in and upon leaving so it definitely affected how I feel about the park overall.

(Nobody was skating and everyone was holding there boards) so then he goes and says that we need to go hangout in the parking lot and wouldnt give a reason why we couldnt sit there so I came up with some bs about my rapper friend wanted to do a music video there and mr parkranger couldnt give any reason for us not to be there and keep repeating your not allowed here/ your not allowed to do that and was a complete old fart to us young people. Well with all that said I do not recommend going here unless you wanna be harassed, followed, and disrespected!
