A nice little pocket park along the river. Mostly in a residential area. Lots of walkways, lots of bicycles, but there are Pathways for bicycles are not allowed. I only found one way to get in if you are not especially mobile. Its mostly stairs. Union Street has one path that you could consider handicap entrance. The views of the river are nice. And the little playground was getting some use. It generally looks like a place for the locals stroll down and play with their kids, or ride their bikes through the tunnel.

Windmill Hill Park is situated along the river bank within a residential part of town. There is a great view of the river but there is something a little creepy about the place. When I say creepy I mean spooky. Theres a little playground for the kids, which is nice but theres a tunnel there that gave me the willies.

Double rimmed basketball court, 2-3 acre field, playground, few picnic tables, and a steep hill to play and roll down. Watch out for the wooden bridge when wet. Its steep and slippery, especially on a bike. Great park!

I like the park and especially the view. The only downside(which is not the parks fault) is the area has alot of home owners with dogs that Ive seen come over to this park to use the bathroom. Soooo watch your step

If Windmill Hill Park is the name of the riverside park/walkway Alexandria City is building, then I must say that I love it. Parking sucks, as always, in Old Town, but its worth the trouble if you can stroll along the river on a beautiful day. Benches, easy gravelled walkway, places to picnic, vistas, fishing spots, jettys, restaurants n shops, n lovely gajillion $$ townhouses to admire (n be thankful you dont own when the river floods!) We had a very nice day.

A wonderful park right on the water, frequently filled with families and dogs. Plenty of open space to play soccer, toss a frisbee, or just sit around and enjoy a beautiful day. There is also a playground, but I cant speak to its quality. The local basketball court also plays host to some fun pickup by the locals, colloquially referred to (by ourselves, at least) as the River Ballerz.

Good park but it was much better before the city renovated it. Nice river views but no longer functional as a dog park and they eliminated the dog beach. Alexandria city administration is not effective or honest.

We had never actually been in the park til now, but my girls needed some stimulation and waterfront park was just a zoo. Nice jungle gym, slides etc. A few separate play areas, sandbox, rope assisted climb too. Great view for the parents. No restroom but I am guessing its mostly neighborhood kids anyway.

Such a beautiful park with a little bit of everything for everyone. Sand volleyball, big and little kid playgrounds, stunning views, a waterfront dog park, basketball court and a hill great for sledding. The one down side is there is no bathroom but local tip, the Safeway nearby does have one for shoppers to use.

One of the hidden gems of Alexandria, this playground/park has a fenced in, shaded play area with a variety of structures, a sand pit, swings, a sand volleyball court, and even a rope climbing wall. Parking is on the street and free. Truly relaxing to spend a few hours in the shade watching your small children run around in a safe and interesting location, with the Potomac River a beautiful view in the background.
