Havent been there after happy hour, but their happy hour is awesome!!! And the food is absolutely amazing. Its not bar food bar food. Hands down best wings and chili cheese fries. Our bartender was David. He should have been complaining about our table and all the requests we had but he fed us and liquored us down... The best part about David was that when we asked for flavors and he freestyled them..DONT WORRY WE TOOK CARE OF HIM!!!! No disappointments!!! on either side lol Going back today.

I’m a guitarist that’s played Nick’s several times. An they are one of the Best an funnest Crowds to play in front of. Because they appreciate good music and love to dance.so by far Nick’s is one of my favorite places to play out of all the Venues. I’ve played and not to mention the food is fantastic. And they have great prices on their drinks. So get out there and check them out .If you love to dance and you’re around Alexandria or DC you’ll have the time of your life.

Ive been going to nicks for almost a year and theres a reason. I like the people, the bartenders, and the rest of the staff. During certain days it gets very busy but Im antisocial at times so thats to no fault of their own. There are two side to this dive bar, front and back. The front consists of a restaurant feel and line dancing, where as the back is karaoke, and a bar ran by two friendly staff members. Will I suggest this for a city slicker? Probably not due to the country music. Also, this place is packed with active duty military and veterans alike! Definitely will continue going

Dissapointed. I am a dancer by nature, I was looking for a place to let my hair down, dance, sing, be free, Express myself doing the things I am good at and love. There is not room To do any of that here. You have to be pretty much be apart of there personal club to do things that should be free. Pay for line dancing classes and such. This is not an average of night club. Every song has a specific dance to it. No free dance. The food was good. The service was good.

Wow- Completely awful. DO NOT GO HERE FOR DINNER Service was slow and inattentive. I would understand if the establishment was busy, but it wasn’t. We didn’t receive napkins or silverware until our meal arrived. Drinks didn’t come until several minutes after our meals arrived as well. Water didn’t arrive for 15 minutes! My steak was cooked well done , when I said something, I then received a rare steak. I had ordered it medium. It’s a $30.00 steak...I expect it to come as I ordered. The manager who dropped the second steak off didn’t even stay and wait for me to cut into the steak or apologize for the error. Again they were not busy. The $24.00 , 4 pieces of shrimp I attained for an app was NOT fresh and very small. I had to use my fingers because we were still waiting for silverware to arrive at our table of 7. You can not see the waterfront from the majority of the restaurant- so no appeal there.Over all: Overpriced, rude, and they need to learn how to cook basic food.

Fun place to take line dancing lessons and do karaoke on the weekends. The food is actually good. I do not like that on Fridays and Saturdays - you have to pay for cover in addition to the dancing lesson. Also, you have to pay for water as they only offer bottled water after a certain point. Otherwise, the atmosphere is fun. The bands are usually pretty good. Brittany is my favorite dance instructor but they are all good.

Love this place. Id classify it as a country dive bar. The bands are really good. The bartenders make great drinks and provide fast service. The karaoke room in the back was jammed packed and it seemed like a bit of a hip hop scene. But the country bar in the front was awesome.

Cool country music dive bar. You gotta know line dancing, or you wont last long on the dance floor. They offer line dancing lessons if you want to get into it. The bands on the weekends are great and do a good job on the country cover music. If I could give the place 3.5 stars, I would. Im not a fan of bars with mandatory covers and metered alcohol pours. I just know theyre out to get you for all your money. Its a great experience with friends. I enjoy coming back, but only if my friends are there and Im in the mood for country music.

This is only because I cannot give zero stars.I have been to Nick’s many times and had great experiences. It is always my girls night out spot and our group always has a blast. Last night though I had a very uncomfortable encounter with another patron. He was inappropriate with myself. When I called him out on it the staff was defending this individual, brushed off my accusations, and just told us we needed to leave. They seemed only slightly more willing to cooperate once law enforcement was called and my LEO husband showed up as well. A formal police report was filed for the incident and I will be doing everything in my power in alignment with the law to press charges. What I am most disappointed about was the unsafe environment that Nick’s created for me once they knew about the incident. The staff offered up that there were cameras but when I asked if we could pull them up then there was silence. There were even two employees that seemed to know the individual who defended him and laughed at me! To laugh at someone when they are clearly in distress and shaken is not appropriate. A place that I love and enjoy has now become an unsafe environment that I will not be returning to in the future.

Had a great time enjoying Thursday West Coast Swing night at Nick’s. The 7:45 lesson instructors were great especially with our beginning friends. If you’re looking for a country bar don’t waste your time. Play country maybe half the time. There’s a ridiculous cover charge for the sole reason that it’s the only way they can keep the doors open due to how dead it always is. This was my 3rd and final time giving this place a chance.

The wife and I have been going to Nicks twice a week for 3 years. The food is always on point, with special items being rolled through weekly. The front bar and dining area plays host to most of the dance crowd along with a live band on Fridays and Saturdays. The back bar is where the karaoke singers will find their refuge. All the bar, wait, and kitchen staff are very laid back, polite, and amazing people. There is plenty of parking and the cover starts late enough that if youre really committed to your evening, you can get there before it begins.

I brought some friends to this bar expecting a good country feel. The band that played was good but was ultimately turned off by the staffs treatment. Granted I did not know there was a second bar, however my party was asked to leave the dance floor simply because we had drinks. This was in clear contrast to the other 20 or so patrons enjoying drinks on the floor. Regardless, the attitude conveyed by the employee sent a different message: if youre not line dancing then leave. The issue was that two of the girls in our group were dancing to the song but not in the ordained fashion of line dancing. It was decent but not line dancing. There was no referral to the other bar by the staff. Personally, I will not be returning because I do not enjoy a place that only condones line dancing, especially to pop songs by Rihanna and such. I recommend more informative staff if there is a difference between bar settings. Nonetheless, if you like serious line dancing, its your place to be; and if you want country but freedom to enjoy the way you want then try somewhere else.

I used to love Nick’s, but they neglected to warn customers that their parking lot has flooded in the past, and it did again just a few weeks ago. My car is undergoing $6,000 of work due to flood damage as we speak. I tried to contact the restaurant *three times* to ask if they intend to put up signs or warn people in other ways - so that no other customers have the same thing happen to them. I have received no response. With heavy rains and flooding imminent again this weekend, I must warn their customers for them publicly since this business will not: THE PARKING LOT MAY FLOOD. DON’T PARK HERE. If Nick’s had responded to my original messages, taken responsibility and committed to change, I would not post this. But as it stands, this is a problem of poor management, neglect of a problem and of customers. I am not the only one with a nearly-totaled car.

The East Coast boy in me is surprised that Im giving Nicks a 4 star, but for what Nicks is, it deserves a solid 4 star rating. Its in the middle of nowhere Alexandria, but it somehow is a safe haven for all the Texas transplants living in the DC area. Its in a strip mall, but makes good use of their space. Theres two big rooms. The first has live music and a large floor for two stepping and line dancing. Along the edge of the dance floor there are tables for people to eat and drink at. In the back is another room with karaoke, a dance floor, a bar, and seating. They offer an array of drinks from hard cider (Angry Orchard), gin and tonic, and even $2 jello shots (They are sooooo good!).If you need a break from the stiffness of DC, get on your cowboy boots and head to Nicks!

Nicks is my favorite place in the area to go dancing. I went there for a friends birthday about 3 years ago and wanted to be a line dancing regular immediately. I started going to the FREE lessons each Tuesday ($5 on Friday and Saturday) and learned a lot from the wonderful instructors. It takes some time and effort to learn the dances and takes some time to start picking things up on the fly but once you get the hang of it, it is great! Line dancing is my favorite exercise. When they do have a cover its wicked cheap. The drinks are not outrageously priced like out in D.C. and the food is awesome! The bartenders are great and super attentive. At nicks, I found my little slice of country life that I miss so much in the big city!

Nicks Nightclub is despicable! Myself and a group of friends went here tonight and my gay friend was kicked out tonight simply because he is gay. He was grabbed by the arm, slammed against the wall, and removed from the location. I am making it public that nobody should go here ever! He was just shaking his booty having a good time. He didnt push anyone, he didnt hurt anyone, period. He was simply seen as gay and discriminated against. To the one girl who he unintentionally made her spill a drink on herself, get over yourself.....people get drinks accidentally spilled on them allllllll the time. You blew it OUT of proportion. It is amazing that narrow-minded people like this still exist. Please share this review and never support this bar!!

(But who could blame them, they want to go home too)Dancing is a little restrictive as far as line dancing goes (High kicks, tosses, swings, dangerous moves)Parking can be an adventure on busy nightsAll in all, a FANTASTIC country bar, and one of the few remaining since Toby Keith shut down (not that they were all that magical)As a patron of this bar for a little over a year now, I still have fun every time I make the hike out here. Tuesdays have become a rather slow night, but Friday and Saturday are still just as packed and exciting as ever. My friends and I were celebrating a birthday and wanted to try something to eat while taking the line dancing lesson, the lady who was our server didnt seem to be happy that we ordered water to drink nor when we ordered from the appetizers side of the menu. I wish she had a general knowdledge of what hospitality means, she was obviously upset when we said we were moving to a different room and demanded that we pay our check before moving because she didnt have time to come to the other side of the room.If I had to rate her service I would give her a -5*

Well, I am not sure what to say about this place. Full of a bunch of very uptight individuals who clearly do not know how to have fun. The live band was excellent; however, the entire entourage on the dance floor was choreographed and organized, and if you dont know the line dances or moves to the all the songs, you are unwelcome on the dance floor. I have never been to a country bar this uptight. Fortunately, my husband and I just dont give a stuff, we broke all the invisible boundaries and danced how we liked, and where we liked. We got scowled at, barged, and tutted at, but who cares! We ignored them all and had a really fun time. I would say once off the dance floor and away from all the pretentious people, who pretend to be cowboys and cowgirls (probably never seen a real horse, let alone ridden one) the bar is friendly, reasonably priced and stress free. If you are confident enough to ignore the snots on the dancefloor, youll have a really good time.

I would have never chosen to go to this place but my best friend and I were meeting up with some of her friends. I moved back to Virginia and she wanted to go out and have fun and let go. Since she has cancer I thought why not I will check out a country bar since she talks about this place all the time. I will say this I will never ever touch down in this bar again and I will tell anyone I can not to come near this bar.I guess if you enjoy country line dancing, smoke, and getting hit on by shady men having guys grab your arm in front of a Ugly bouncer who just watched him man handle me and say nothing. Then hear the same guy tell your friends a few threats and to get the hell out of here again. So if your into having bouncers threaten you and not watch over you like they are meant to then this is your number one place to be.I have to say the only plus was Jared the bouncer who my friend went and talked to about the issues going on who stepped in.I would stay away if your a girl doesnt seem like they care who they hire as far as guys are to protect and serve. A bigger bouncer was to busy rubbing up on a female on a dance floor and the ugly one with tatts on his arm who let the guy hurt me arm thought he was some big stuff.Service for the bar was okay they know how to make drinks the only plus side

I dont know which country-western dance hall the other reviews were writing about, but it sure wasnt the Nicks Ive gone to.1 - you dont take your drinks onto ANY dance floor. You spill it then it becomes a slick spot and a hazard (let alone mess the soles of real dance shoes). Im a dancer and Ive taken drinks out of hands and placed them on the rail. Its not being rude; its just trying to keep the floor clear.2 - Ive danced with all kinds of people in there (black, white, asian, you name it). Ive never seen anyone mistreated, ignored or asked to leave just because of their race. Some of the bouncers and dance teachers are black, and I dont think theyd tolerate it if there was a race issue.3 - This isnt a thumpa, thumpa, fist-pump, writhe on the floor place. This is a country-western dance hall. That means you need to understand the social etiquette of the dance. Everyone (generally) dances the same pattern, along the outside, in the same (counter-clockwise) direction for couples dances. Line dancers or stationary couples dances stay in the center. Watch where youre dancing AND the area around you. You stay in your dance space and Ill stay in mine; but if youre going to run into my dance partner then I will definitely turn her to protect her and put my elbows up to keep you out of my space.4 - Its a dance hall; that means most of us are there to dance. If you dont know the pattern or steps, then ASK. Dancing is a social activity and we are more than willing to teach someone. Dont worry about getting it right the first time, and dont think that people are judging you as to whether you can dance or not. I always tell my partner just smile and let me lead. If you relax and listen to the rhythm, then most of us can lead you through just about anything.5 - no smoking allowed inside, so I dont know how anyone can say it was smoky inside.6 - yeah, its not top-shelf liquor. Its a country-western dance hall, so I wouldnt expect to find fancy, overpriced alcohol there.Bottom line; I tend to go there a lot. Im a ballroom dancer and country-western follows the same etiquette. Ive danced there with women from seven different countries and from all over the US, and Ive never heard one of them complain. If you want to partner dance (or watch), this is probably one of the best spots in DC to do it. But if you want a thumpa-thumpa-music-where-I-can-spill-my-drink-on-the-floor place, then go to Clarendon Ballroom or something similar. I think wed both be happier if you did.
