What a terrible organization!!! I read the bad reviews and still took a chance. I regret it 100%.At the beginning of the season last year, our team did not have a coach. The organization was fully prepared to keep 100% of our money without letting our children play. Thankfully a coach was found.Throughout the year, I received numerous emails written by someone who clearly needs an education in public relations. Parents were constantly hassled and threatened that we werent doing enough. No amount of hours we volunteered in any capacity was good enough for a simple thank you from the organization. Instead we just received more rude emails. With COVID-19, our spring season was cancelled. Are we being refunded half our tuition for only playing half a year? NOPE!!!! We get a measly 10.00 off tuition for next year. (Notice how they are already taking money even though they arent sure they can even provide a season?)The organization didnt even bother letting us know the spring season was cancelled. We got emailed a survey asking when we would like to reschedule back in March. When I heard nothing by July I checked their website and there is an announcement there, but the coaches werent even notified. This organization needs to be investigated. If none of the volunteers are paid, where is our money going? Do not spend a single penny here. There are much better places for your kids in Albuquerque.

We paid for both of our kids to play 2 seasons of soccer. I would just let them keep my money And it be a waste!! then let my kids play for this organization. Never in my life have I been more turned off by the way an organization is run! There are No refs, refs are the coaches. Then u got coaches and parents arguing with the refs, no one knows what is actually going on! They have rules or “policies” that they claim every one follows but that’s not the case. Worst fields ever! (CNM West.) My daughter played for Zia and we will definitely be returning there! Save your money, time and effort. We tried to get our money back no one ever called us back. They are sooo terribly disorganized! I should’ve known from the moment they couldn’t find a coach for my kids team...til the very last minute. I-9 would be a better option then AYSO....seriously!!

This organization is volunteer run. Meaning all these folks who are on the board coaching or refs are working full time jobs and then put in a few hours a day into soccer. As I see it its not a time issue as much as its a management issue. Ayso has really ridiculous protocols. Its motto of all for the kids is untrue. Its mentioned in coaches meetings to hold uniforms hostage until parents step up to volunteer to be assistant coaches and refs. Hurting the kids. Grouping kids who are older against kids who are 2 years younger. Hurting kids. Grouping kids that all played u12 the year before against a team with only 1 player with u12 experience. Hurting kids. Phone calls to the office never received or returned. Then when an incident does occur somehow the league shows up like a bunch of sheriffs and shows their authority. I did like our coach. Who I distance away from the board members. Valuable lessons were taught by him even as the league handcuffs him by its outdated league policies . Its a totally disorganized situation at Ayso. Id invite you to try another league.

This is definitely not a organization in any way this was my sons first time playing soccer and immediately I was turned off by this organization. After paying for my son to be on a team and waiting for a team to be put on, not getting any responses from them when trying to contact them, then recieving a email advising that my son may not be able to play or be put on a team if theyre is no one to volunteer to be a coach and their would be no refunds if that were to happen. This is not how to go about things and threatening us. We are currently playing on a team thank goodness for our 90year old coach, but has been so disorganized there are no actual refs the refs are the coaches. I have never seen any people from AYSO at any of the games to make sure that games are going good. we will never come back and will never ever recommend this so called organization.

I have 2 boys playing in this league right now. One is in mid-school and one is in 1st grade and they both love it. Coach Cricket and his wife are amazing!

My son was assigned to a team that practices in the foothills, even though we live near Bandelier Elementary, where the league claims to have a team (this would have required 40 minutes driving on a weeknight for practices for us). AYSO only offered us a 50% refund, even though this was clearly their mistake. Disorganized and not very helpful staff.

Our family has participated in AYSO for 5+ years. We understand that its mainly a volunteer organization and have done our best to help as needed. My husband served as a ref for several seasons + Ive volunteered countless hours as a Team Parent. Weve had several good years with the organization, but I believe the program needs to consider making some updates. The most recent age structuring doesnt make sense. Our nine-year-old who is in the fourth grade was recently put on a team with seven-year-olds who are in second grade and eight-year-olds who are in third grade. He was the only boy his age and in his grade on the team. Hes clearly a head taller than the other boys and in a different body mass bracket. When we politely asked the commissioner to either add another 9yo/4th grader to his team or move our son to another team, he refused. It seems unfair, unsafe, and pretty lame for our son to be the ONLY boy his age and in his grade on the team.If youre considering joining AYSO, please ask about the new age categories. Weve never had an issue in the past, but the latest age groups dont work for our family. Weve left AYSO and do not plan on returning.

The way age groups were picked for U-10 boys for the 17-18 season was a terrible mistake! 7 to 9 year olds and then 8-10 year olds all on the same team for one season. The 7 year old on the team I coached would have Flourished playing w boys his age I feel. Instead he was very limited in his play just due to older kids a little bit ahead of him, I dont understand how AYSO got lazy on this one considering this is a NON COMPETITIVE LEAGUE. All in all the boys had fun playing soccer together as a team, one thing they didnt do as a team, LEARN THE RULES OF SOCCER...which AYSO staff made it clear at a meeting that at u8-u10 rules needed to be in taught and put into effect at practice and during the game, ok how??? there was no way of teaching it thru AYSO core soccer at u8-u9-u10, I dont think its new news to AYSO so i hope they work on providing some form of referees because in all 15 games we played wether home or away one thing thats always missing at an AYSO core soccer game, is volunteer REFEREES! So the rules are never correctly implemented during play, rarely an offside call, rarely a foul call, no drop kick for the goalie,so the ball tends to stay on one side and most kids generate power to kick it from the goalie position just from the bounce alone! Oh and not to mention they never repaint the field lines so everybody pretty much needs to memorize where the lines were from the first week till week 8. As for the last game of the season what was that at balloon fiesta Park AYSO??? So first my u10 boys are mixed from a 7,8,9 & 10 age group, and at ventana ranch they play on a decent sized what looks to be a U10 soccer field, so thats what the boys got accustomed to playing on, then for the very last game these boys played w the CHEAPEST of goals and a field that was super small! meant for u8 boys I thought but they want us treating them like U10 boys!!! Make up your mind AYSO competitive or non competitive. The staff needs to volunteer more not just send out emails it would help way more!!! Thanks for the experience, GO CHEETAHS!!

Worst youth soccer organization in Albuquerque. Two daughters played. I volunteered for those 4 years as coach. Disorganized, rude. Completely out of line when dealing with volunteers. Your money is put in the office staffs pocket. They bully parents into volunteering as refs by withholding uniforms. I have known two other coaches that were allowed to coach for AYSO with known criminal backgrounds involving children so I dont know why they charge us volunteers for background checks when they dont use it. After seeing this, I had enough. Withdrew my daughter. Sent email to appropriate staff in a timely manner according to Thier policy. They would not return any emails or calls for 2 months! Then refuse to refund my money. NO SURPRISE THERE! Save yourself stress and headaches. Go to i9 or any other league. You may pay a little extra BUT ITS WORTH IT. Paid refs, wonderful staff. They treat Thier volunteer coaches with RESPECT and havent noticed any known child abusers on Thier staff, unlike AYSO.

Very unorganized and sticklers for rules when the little kids (7 and under) should have been learning the game and having fun at the same time. The teams are not equally matched by neighborhood, had parents driving from I-40 and Unser all the way to RR for practice. RR parents travel all the way to I-40 and Unser for games. No fields available at RR. The field at Rinconada park is terrible, full of holes and muddy when it rains, they only paint the lines at the beginning of the season and by the end they are no longer seen. Last game of the season, the two coaches agree to allow the entire team to play one another 7vs7 instead of the 5vs5. It was the last game only had one quarter left to play and a so called Board member shows up and tells the coaches the kids have to stick to the rules and play 5vs5. Really?!, last game of the season?, last quarter of the game and all the kids cant have fun and play?... never again will we allow our child to play for this league or will we recommend it.
