A couple friends from work and I rented one of the cabins a couple days before Halloween 2020 to relax and unwind from all the stress in our lives. The cabin was so cozy and the view was amazing! The only complaint I really have is if they could spend a little more time cleaning, because when we swept when we arrived, the floor was absolutely messy and there were a couple missed items the previous renters had left. Other than that though, the staff was super friendly and didn’t mind that we checked out a bit late. We’ll definitely be back soon!

I love going this place. This place has everything covered which any family require for an outing. It has campground, you can do kayaking as well as boating in this place. During fall this place is at its peak beauty. I find this place amazing for photography too. One can spend one entire day in this park. You can do fishing too.

We kayaked the lakes and their channels. Interesting experience with all the algae and roots. Camped for 2 nights. Water was yellow the entire time. Nice camp store. Friendly DNR. There is an Indiana Dept of Corrections facility within the park. The inmates clean the campground bathrooms twice a day.

Ive kayaked here twice now and loved it both times. Ive seen alligator gar for the first time as well as huge bass here.. will be going back to fish soon! Prices are so good & the views are amazing. Hiking trails is awesome as well and they have a few different level trails you can hike! I want to try camping but always seems full when I am able to go. I saw one of the cabins they rent and its stunning! Park is huge & swimming is nice. They also have a store on grounds so if you need something they got it covered

Chain O’ Lakes has some really neat things to do. The canoe rental is currently $20/day, or you can pay $5/hour. The lakes and woods on the canoe trails are super pretty. They have a nice beach and swimming area to go to. The camping general store has about everything you could need. The campsites are nice, but some of them are very slopes so be sure to get a good even spot!

First visit as a Michigander and it was pleasant. I didnt explore the water, but all the lakes are connected so you can kayak/canoe through them all. I did the trails and they were nice. The main beach (Sand Beach) had a concession stand and plenty of space for byob activities. Thumbs up!

My first time at Chain O Lakes was in May of 2019. And I have been back several times since then!! I absolutely fell in love with the place!! It is an extremely clean State Park. And very, very well maintained! Their cabins are awesome as well. If there was any cons it was that it was only my fiance and I at the cabin, and it just seemed big for 2 people. But, they do advertise them as family cabins!! They are very reasonably priced. We have stayed in hotels that were twice the price and not worth half the money! I have so many memories already at Chain O Lakes. And cant wait to make many more!

This was a great place to vacation! We stayed in a family cabin, which had a full kitchen, clean bathroom, living room, screened porch, balcony, and two bedrooms. One double bed and two set of bunks. Hiking trails are well maintained, and beach was clean! The beach has a bath house with clean bathrooms and a concession stand. The water at the beach is mostly shallow...perfect for families. The best part; however was renting kayaks and exploring the rivers and lakes. Absolutely beautiful! The camp store was well stocked. I would highly recommend!

Its a great place to hike, ride a bike, and go swimming. They have canoes, kayaks, bikes, and boats for rent. They have a nature center and a nice camping area, as well as cabins. Its perfect to take your kids and dogs. The nature there is very beautiful and the trails are well kept. The fish are usually always biting too!

What a fantastic unique a park for NE Indiana. The ecology with the beavers is amazing. The park has great fishing and great canoe or kayaking for all ranges or experience. Had kayak and canoe rentals during the summer.Great place to visit for free in the winter.Probably the best state park in Northern Indiana. Please drive slow when in the park! Wildlife will run across the road in the park..

Loved this place! But would have loved to have bike trails. There are only hiking trails where bikes are not allowed. Also, if you want to rent a kayak or canoe, I would recommend going first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon. We went around 1:00pm and all the kayaks and paddle boats were gone. They only had a few canoes left. But if you get there early or later in the evening, they had all the above to choose from.

It was nice to visit the state park today. It was a beautiful, sunny day. My family members rented boats and enjoyed the free fishing day, hiking on the trails, the beach, swimming, grilling our lunch, watching the eagles and local wildlife and spending time together as a family in a clean, well maintained park, nature and the wildlife on such a beautiful day. The campgrounds were at full capacity otherwise we wouldve stayed there this weekend. The playground areas were all closed still due to the pandemic but everything else was open. If you get the chance to visit Chain-O-Lakes State Park, I highly recommend it! They provide guided hikes, observations and teach visitors about local wildlife and conservation. Its a great experience for the whole family.

The lake was beautiful and so much fun! We stayed in the cabins for 3 days. The cabins were clean and looked nice. Definitely would recommend; however a word of caution. Cell phone service is spotty in the cabins and no Wifi so bring other means of entertainment and an emergency/weather radio in case of bad weather.

Campsites were spacious and ours was private because it backed up to the woods. The camp store had a good selection of necessities. The trails were well marked which is a rarity in a lot of state parks. The beach was clean and there was enough space to social distance when we went. One of the better state parks weve been to so far.

How can a place with so much beauty, activities to partake, and top notch friendly and professional staff score only a 2 out of 5 stars? I agree, it seems absurd! This place is North Central Indiana at its best. Unfortunately that rating is through no fault of the facility, but this most recent experience has likely put an end to our camping experiences. My family is tired of putting up with foul mouthed, inconsiderate neighbors while camping. Our neighbors spoke non-stop all day using the F word constantly. Then, the yelled and fought until 2 am, again making sure to spew expletives non-stop. This isnt just a problem at this park. Its been a trend, and Im done subjecting myself and my family to it. Indiana State parks did not used to be this way and its regrettable that their visitors behavior has dragged them down.

Many miles of well groomed trails, some short and easy and others more challenging. Canoe, paddle boat and kyak rentals, which can be used for hours of paddling the interconnected waterways (or you can bring your own, but check ahead for permit requirements). Primitive and electric hookup camping, cabins, and many picnic and playground areas. A small swimming beach with concessions and shower rooms. Plenty of park programs and nature centers for learning. My husband and I booked a camping trip here, which was suggested by someone we spoke with on the phone that was booking camping trips for all locations around Indiana. The one we wanted was booked up so we went to Chain OLakes. Minus the 2 1/2 hr drive, we had a great time! Oh, and the crazy rain storms! Lol.We would definitely go back! They had a nice secured camping ground for campers; campers and tents - all well organized. They had a secured gate entrance, someone controlling the directions for the cars and people walking. They had an old school house you can visit. They had activities, lake for fishing and boats, trails, beach, and dog friendly! It was huge! Definitely recommended!

We chose primitive for peace and quiet. All weekend we had to listen to a very loud generator along with their kids screaming, music blaring, dogs parking. Etc.... making it so we had to yell to talk to the person next to us. Trying to listen to our own music was difficult because we had to turn it ao loud to hear it and then it made it more difficult to hear the person you were talking. One of the worse Camping experiences Ive ever had.

We decided to go in August and other than being super hot, it was also very, very crowded. Like there was no personal space and I wish there was a little more distance between campsites. I enjoy the fact that they only allow one car per site, but it’s really because there’s absolutely no space. Trails were fine and the beach is not the most beautiful. Also pretty crowded. I feel like there are nice parks in Indiana.

Inform staff if you see any problems on the trails.Fishing is allowed at multiple locations. All state regulations apply. Park regulations are posted.Rangers patrol campgrounds regularly. Most campgrounds are one way loops, youll see rangers a lot. Rules are posted at check in, on the campground map, at the entrance to each campground and on the back of your permit. Alcohol, gathering of firewood, being loud will get a visit and first time you will usually get a warning. This is a family style campground. Loud music, rude behavior, vulgar language and drinking are not allowed. Visitors must exit by 9pm. Quiet time begins at 10pm. Campers should be considerate of other campers.Park closes to the public at 9 pm. Campers can register up to 10pm. Registered campers can enter until 11:30pm.
