Great trails, nice Mountain Peak, picnic tables, beautiful place to take pictures, great parking spaces, they also have cabins, have many different trails. I would love to come back to this place aging. I really recommend this place

Took the Bridal Short Loop and really enjoyed the scenery! Watch out for horse droppings because there’s a lot along the way. I only wish the parking lot sign on the trail was bigger or brighter colored (it’s small and dark red with black writing). My friend and I totally missed it and ended up doing the trail twice. We know better for next time!

Went camping here at the end of September of 2020. Was an awesome experience, we were further back in the first loop and loved it. Bathrooms werent too far and potable water was next to the site. We went up the lookout point twice, once in the evening and the next in the afternoon and enjoyed both times. Saw fireflies and a beautiful view. Would definitely camp here again and recommend it to many others. P.S. Our dogs loved it too! :P

We stayed last weekend and it was great! I would suggest to stop by the scenic overlook for some great views. The campground area is a few miles off the main road so it makes you feel like you are really going into the woods. The campsites were clean and well maintained. Some were a bit close together so make sure to look at the map before booking. We stayed on loop A site 9. It was close to bathrooms which were very clean as well. There is also water spouts every few sites. The camp host was driving around on a golf cart selling firewood throughout the day but stops around 7pm so make sure to stock up for the night. It’s a quick drive from the Charlotte area. Overall it was a great experience, and I would recommend staying.

We wanted to go hiking and made our own trail. We followed the side of lake until we came upon a rock, had a picnic, and turn backed. I cant speak for the trail, but the memories will stick. This is a great place for families, couples, or friends. If you want to leave Charlotte, or where ever you are in NC, or youre a tourist... I would recommend this spot, especially for a calm, slow, picutre-taking day.

We stayed in the campground and hiked most of the trails. My favorite trails were the sugarloaf mountain trail and the rocks trail. I also liked the fall mountain trail although it was a bit more crowded. The quarry trail was a cute short hike. It would probably be perfect for families. The bridle trail was closed while we were there. The campground was pretty nice with a nice flat place to set up the tent, a picnic table, and a fire pit. There were also showers and restrooms close by.

11-22-20Not as crowded as other state parks and not as scenic either. But still awesome.Have done both the Morrow Mountain and Sugarloaf (Backpack Trail leads to both) starting at the museum and office.Morrow Mountain trail is probably the better one for scenery as it takes you to the viewing summit. It is labeled as moderate but it is 2.5 miles one way. So if you did a return, do the math. Thats a ton of walking. Some bridges and streams but not many.Sugarloaf Trail is definitely strenuous. Steep. Uneven. Narrow. Slippery at spots. You name it. Tough. Would not recommend after rain. This trail also loops by the main road that leads to the Morrow Mountain parking area. Either side you take on it is killer. Not for everyone. The Morrow Mountain Parking lot is huge, has the summit, and an awesome shelter in Shelter A. Picnic area with bathrooms are here.Park office has some keepsakes for sale, maps, etc.I think this is a 4-star hike but the 5th star is for how well labeled the trails are. Best Ive seen in a state park in NC.There was some burning smell and trees down from burning. Not smokey but did smell. If this bothers you, then come at a different time.

Tall trees, steep hairpin bend, beautiful views from the overlook, trails on top of the mountain, twisted roads down to the lake, trails around the lake, cabins to stay overnight; what else is needed. Wonderful mountain with all possible things, elevation is good enough to immerse oneself into amazing views of nature.

Hike or drive to the top of Morrow. I’d recommend hiking Hattaway clockwise and Sugarloaf counter clockwise, both go straight up! White triangle trail was overgrown, just stay on the campground road to access the long loop by the septic area behind campsite 54 in loop B. They have “you are here” maps posted along the trails at intersections to help navigate.

Beautiful State Park! Visited several times. If you want less crowds, go during the week. The popular spot is the lookout point at the end of the drive up. There are clean restrooms there. That is also where the trailheads are for a couple of the hiking trails. The Loop trail is nice and easy going, but be careful as there are small rocks everywhere that can be a little unstable at times. You get some really pretty views along the way. Other trails are more challenging.

Rode up here on a whim so didnt check out much besides the view but seems to be a cool place to hike, camp, bring a picnic lunch, etc. I was on my motorcycle so didnt have much with me and in full riding gear it was a little toast so didnt stay long. Going to come back with the family and a plan to check it out more but everything I saw looked good

A lot of well kept trails. I hiked over 9 miles and didnt even cover half of the trails. The outside trails (Bridle trails) allow both hikers and horses. It can be crowded on nice weather weekends and at fall peak colors. Although you can see a few lakes and part of the PeeDee river from the top, dont expect a fantastic view. Oh, and you can drive to the top if hiking is not your thing. Parking is limited. Camping is allowed in the park.

We took a one night camping trip to Morrow Mountain, the visitor center was clean and the staff was helpful. We bought firewood and starters for only a few dollars, and they deliver it directly to your campsite. There is a small museum located close to the parking lot, interesting for the kids but be aware there are no animals allowed inside. The campsite was spacious and evenly spaced out between neighbors, the restrooms were in great shape and were well maintained.
