This was a great family trip. The zoo itself was a great walk, even with twin 1 year olds and a 4 year old. It was long enough without being too much for them. The variety of animals was perfect for small children though adults may have already seen some of the animals they have there.Outside of the zoo proper there is a nice sized playground for the children. While there were only a few things for the twins, my 4 year old had a constant supply of places to play. The day we went, they were running RC car races. This was a good way to wrap up the day. All three kids liked watching them make laps and jump the variety of hills put up.Needless to say, as a bonus to our trip, the kids all slept well that night.

At $7.00 per person with our discount I set my expectations low, but I still expected more than what I saw. It was pitiful!!!The overall appearance of the park and zoo was Sad to say the least. As we entered the Zoo we were greeted by a very nice young lady reading a magazine with her feet propped up. She informed us that due to the Covid some attractions weren’t available. Like the petting zoo, but we were invited to view the animals from the fence line (we saw none). We proceeded to the Alligator exhibit and began to get the feeling that we had driven 3 hours for nothing! We quickly caught on to the fact that whatever had been here before that everyone rated so highly had now been taken over by Laziness and total disregard to the entire purpose of a zoo. It appeared that a storm had knocked down some trees throughout the park some time ago, but no one had done anything about it and had no plans to do anything based on what appeared to be permanent blockades to some areas due to the downed trees that have now began to rot.The zoo was more of a walk through an unsightly forest with a few under kept areas that had a few animals. With some serious clean up, debris removal, and staff changes I do believe however it has great potential to be a wonderful zoo again like everyone has claimed in the past.

It looks small when you first arrive to the actual zoo part but it gets bigger as you go inside. The animals all seemed sedated. They wouldnt react to noise or anything. it was quite weird. But it was nice nonetheless.

I take my 2 year old to Chehaw almost daily (we bought the yearly membership this year) & she loves it, my 12 year old loves the disc golf course & they both enjoy the playground. The animals are great if you take the time to learn their names & personalities, we’ve learned most of their names so now they come when I call them & the meerkats come to the sound of my voice ! Joe the Maribou Stork (along with the meerkats) is my favorite, he has a great personality & is super sweet !

It is a small zoo with helpful employees who seem to really care about the animals. Its perfect for a fairly short outing with young children and toddlers! The bridge was a favorite for both of my children. The park does have some damage and trees down from several recent storms that affected several exhibits, however, this did not warrant complaints. Instead, the experience encouraged my daughter to request that we go help clean up one weekend.

We love the zoo here. The alligators are so awesome. Nice selection of animals, fun to watch and take pictures. The kids love it. Not too big but its not small; nice size for a fun afternoon. There is wildlife everywhere in here (keep your eyes open on the wooden trails we have seen snakes)

It was pretty good. It was really hot out, but I guess thats not their fault. I just wish there were more shaded areas. Also, I have a disability and needed to use a wheelchair. However, they only had 2 of them. One wouldnt move, the wheels were rusted, and the other kept on turning to the right, making it Extremely difficult to manuvere.

Chehaw Animal Park was a nice walk, but I could still see results from strong storms that hit the area. There were not as many Animals as I remember, but I was impressed in the ones that remained. It was easy to keep social distancing as there were not many people there. I went early in the morning to enjoy lower tempatures for June.

We visited the zoo yesterday. It was our first time and we came from Tallahassee so nearly a two hour drive. We were happy to see the educational signs, efforts to keep us safe during the virus, and conservation efforts. There were several animals we havent seen at other zoos like the black rhino, Bactrian camels, red kangaroos, and coati. The reptile house and alligator swamp were the highlights for our reptile loving 5 year old.Overall, we had a good time BUT there were some major concerns. We happened to come on a damp day in between rain storms so the wooden walkways (half of the walking path) was extremely slippery. Our local museum usually puts sand down when this happens to protect people. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. We were super careful and still slipped and nearly fell multiple times. Not to mention, the whole place is a bit run down in general. It is a nonprofit organization that obviously isnt receiving the funding that is needed to keep this place in good shape. It has great potential but, unfortunately, isnt receiving the care it deserves! We were also disappointed to find out that the train was not working which meant some animals could not be seen. This would not have been a big deal IF this was communicated to us before we arrived but it is not posted on their social media or website. Were not local so we have no idea whats happened over the last year. I expect for businesses to update their website so I know what to expect before we arrive. It should be clearly stated on the website that there has been storm damage, the train is not working, and then the closures for the virus.Anyways, we did the whole walking loop twice to make it worth the drive. We arrived around opening time and the animals were all very active. We really did have a great time but we will not be back until the train is working.

Love this place! Small zoo but it’s an amazing experience. My son got to feed the rhinos and the alligators and he still talks about it. The alligator section is just awesome and a one of a kind experience. Small enough that you can see everything and still have time to double back if you want to. Their is a petting zoo where you can feed goats, donkeys, pigs, cows, & alpacas & they are all super friendly! Love this place.

The zoo keepers semed to be great with the kids they had in day camp, however the zoo itself left us very disappointed as guests. I understand that there may have been a series of storms or something that has disrupted some of the enclosures but, most of the zoo was inaccessible and blocked off, more enclosures than not were empty and you could tell they had been for some time, the animals we did see were nice but a lot of walking to see a very minimum number of attractions compared to what we experienced a few years ago on a previous visit. I would still recommend going as i know they survive on donations and patrons visiting but it was slightly disappointing. Also if visiting on a weekday keep in mind that none of the food places are open to get drinks or snacks and the rail lines are only running on the weekends also.

Prices for concessions at the train werent too high but it would help if there was lighted sign that had prices and where to buy the seperate tickets required to ride the train.A place to get hamburgers, hotdogs, or pizza would be a nice addition when they have special events going on of this magnitude. But overall...its a great place for family fun.

Just dropped my son off for his first week of stay away camp. place has been around for a while, but for so much acreage they maintain really well. I actually like that it looks a little overgrown. The trees and landscape are beautiful! Even though it has some stuff thats torn up a bit, they have the biggest coolest playground Ive ever seen! And a water park splash pad that looks fun as hell. We live two hours from here, and getting in touch with the person in charge of stay awake and was easy and she was back in touch with me ASAP drop off with super easy and I cant wait to see how this week was when he gets back on Saturday.

We stopped off here on our drive back home to look around and stretch our legs. This is a small zoo located inside the Chehaw park. It was not easy to find. The city really needs to put up some signs. We pulled up to the main park entrance and told them we were going to the zoo and paid admission there. Large sections of the zoo are closed down due to storm damage. What we could see was interesting and with some repairs and a little promotion this little zoo could be a great place.
