The South Course is now reopened after renovation while the North Course is being renovated. South Course gives players a lot of fun and many challenges. Even it is heavily played, the course is still well maintained (except #13 and #14 where the fairways cannot drain irrigation fast enough). The greens are punishingly fast and their undulation is wicked, and being able to 2-putt is the most rewarding experience. Second cuts are reasonably playable but if you unfortunately get into the rough, you may find more balls but not the one you lost. The most challenging hole for me is Par-5 #17 - long, narrow fairways, deceiving layout and curvy green. Earning a par on this hole is exhilarating.Jim’s on The Course has a large food and drink menu. Try Bloody Mary and fish sandwich. Juan is a really good and efficient server.

Affordable and nice course. They are doing some renovations so there are a few more hazards than youd normally have but all in all a beautiful course.

Two things would make this a 5-star experience. (1) Make it easier to book late afternoon / earlier evening tee times so that I can play with my kid after work. (2) Make a short game practice area / putting green more accessible; there is a ton of space at the far left side of the range that would be ideal for this - nowhere in the bay area has this kind of set up. It would be ideal for practice and also ideal for teaching... top practice facilities are very hard to come by out here.

Great course with even better customer service. Brett called to explain some issues theyre having with reduced tee times which is just to make the course and property a safe place for golfers and employees alike. Its hard to get tee times right now so the best bet is to just be patient and book online early in the morning for up to a week out.

Always love playing here. Greens are firm and roll true, and the fairways and rough are in good shape. Bunkers are a bit hardpacked right now, but Im guessing thats the intent since we cant take them during the pandemic.Only issue? Getting a damn tee time. Its like winning the lottery!

The renovated South course is fantastic! If you are a fan of links-style golf, this is a must play golf course. They took what was a beaten-down muni and had Rees Jones completely overhaul it. It is now a super-fun and challenging links layout, patterned after the great sand belt courses of Australia. Great variety of holes, incredible green complexes, and the greens seem to always be in fantastic shape. This is one my new favorite tracks to play. BONUS: Great bar with good food and lots of micro-brews on tap, so your 19th hole experience will be just as good as your day on the course.

South Course redesign... bunkers, bunkers, and more bunkers... coupled with very undulating greens and areas of the same ball eating/club gabbing grass that Poppy Ridge topped out in order to improve playing time. The fairways and greens were in excellent shapes and greens rolled true.Despite the tee times being 10 minutes apart, we were on the heels of the group in front of us from the 3rd hole and had to wait for every tee/fairway/approach shot for the remainder of the round. Not a single Marshall/Player Assistants to move players along in sight for the entire round. When you have that many bunkers, you really should have people roaming the course to assist with bunker raking to keep things moving.$85 Walking in Friday at 10:30.Warning: their rates for non-residents states that the rate varies from $75-95 without cart, depending on DEMAND, Day, and Time. In other words there is no real fixed pricing for non-residents.They do offer an NCGA discount.Renovated clubhouse that is trying way too hard to be urban hipster complete with two fire pits on the patio. Will I go back, not likely.Course condition: 4 stars, because the cart paths are gravel and not designed well for those that walk the course.Pace of Play: 1 StarService in clubhouse: 5 StarService in restaurant/bar: 5 Star after the round, 3 Star at the turn, because people making the turn are not prioritized to keep play moving.Quality of food/Drink: 5 Star - Highly recommend the Chicken Nachos

John Vest and his team are doing a fantastic job making these courses a wonderful experience. For my sons birthday we played the new 9 hole course. This was the first time Id try to play since my hip replacement 5 weeks ago. John made my experience truly memorable. He accommodated my cart requirement by having a very nice staff member, Ben, join our threesome to drive me around. Ben was very sweet and fun to play with. I cant say enough about how much we appreciated the special treatment. Alameda KNOWS customer service! Impressive. Thank you very much!! Ill be back soon and be able to walk on my own! :) And by the way, the 9hole course is very fun, beautiful with some challenging rolling greens. Check it out.

I will consider revisiting this review once the new course opens. Bottom line is that a high end community like Alameda deserves a much better municipal course. The layout is uninspiring and the grounds crew should be ashamed of themselves for the conditions of the fairways/greens. 3 stars, for now.

The par 3 is one of the best around. With all of the high undulating hills, you can stand on a fairway and not see any of the other holes. It makes it feel like youre playing on a much larger course

The new Rees Jones South course is a great golf experience. The greens are the best in the Bay Area barnone. They roll fast true and just have enough slope to make it a challenge without it being a joke. Its very playable for all levels of golfers interesting beautiful bunkering, rewarding and just an overall great golf experience.Cant wait to see what they do with the renovation on the North.

Was not impressed with the with the south course. The was a lot of mud around the fairways. Also a very foul smell around the water hazards. I will not come back. Very pricey as well for a public course. Go play Boundary Oaks for the same price!
