Staff is super friendly(mostly) and machine are well maintained. Overall the amenities are great! I’m not impressed with some of the trainers they have employed there. I’ve witness on several different occasion the trainers ignoring someone who obviously needed assistance. Whether it being someone having zero knowledge of how to work a piece of equipment or someone not using proper form and packing on too much weight. I mention this because I had to assist these individuals and inform them on proper ways or form. On more than a time or two. I do this because I was once a trainer and I was once at that point when I needed help. I have a bachelor degree in exercise science and have a few different certifications. So maybe I can be a little tough. On the other hand these trainers were all over myself when removed my shoes do a few sets of calves. Makes me wonder how educated these guys are. Regardless of education, that plays no role in seeing a person who needs helps and bypassing them to advise me to put on my shoes.

My family and I have been working out and doing the Y programs for years now. My kids have grown up in their camp and sports programs. We have done swim lessons too and all have been great. The staff is well trained and organized. City leagues and programs are always an option for these programs, but you dont get the one on one attention we have come to love about the Y or the quality in staff and coaches. Officials this season for my sons flag football team were awesome! They took the time to learn the kids names and were very knowledgeable of the rules. My younger son played soccer at the Y too and the sports director was even able to arrange to where my older and younger sons would practice on the same night, saving us trips back and forth. Quality staff and programs, facility is always a great family place too. We love the Y!

My daughter played soccer here for the first time and loved it!! Their staff is always nice, facility is clean, the youth sports are fun and parents have a great time cheering their players on. I felt welcomed and my daughter LOVED her coach and team. The uniforms were high quality and each player got a medal at the end of the season. Very good experience for introducing young soccer players to the sport.

I have visited this location several times, having been in the area visiting relatives. In comparison to the YMCA I usually visit in Indiana, this one has dated locker and shower areas. But they are trying to be kept clean. The people are always friendly here...by phone and in person. They would rather point out where things are VS getting up and showing you around if you are there for the 1st time. This made for me and my husband doing a full-on search to find where we needed to go. I suppose staff has not been told how to help oyt-of-towners? I use the pool, always. I loved seeing so many families enjoying the pool as a family activity! I gave 5 stars because everyone attending were smiling and enjoying the facility. And, although we had to do that search to find out where all the front desk persons were pointing for our desired areas? (There were 3 behind the front desk that day.) Still, they were happy to point and other staff members were helpful, too.

I am a member and I love everything about it except for the youth soccer. It was severely unorganized. The first practice out the gate, there was about 15 kids that hadnt been assigned a team. The girl that was sent to talk with us, bless her heart but you can tell she was just thrown in at the last minute. There was too many teams, we basically had 3 players all season. outside of that and the lack of communication by the youth director (dont expect any return calls from this guy), the atmosphere is great on a day to day.

I love this gym. First off this place is pretty clean, the staff are super friendly and helpful , if you have any questions about a piece of equipment they will make sure you are probably using it correctly. I have used their personal trainer Beth, and she is doing awesome stuff for my physique! A added plus is , I have made so many new friends since becoming a member. I have been to other YMCAs around Birmingham and this one is my favorite, it feels so much like a community not just a place I go to get my sweat on.

To begin, this review has nothing to do with the facility itself. I work out here several times a week with a group of guys and we enjoy everything about the facility. They always are open on time, always clean and a great run facility. All this is great but in terms of the Youth Sports it is very unorganized. I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before we signed up because it would have changed our minds on where our daughter would be playing her first season of organized youth sports. From the beginning it was a bad experience. We received a call several days before the season began that we didnt have a coach. The schedule was sent out prematurely with errors. When I asked about it, the Sport Director told me it was not supposed to be sent out and he had told that to the overall sport director. He stated she didnt communicate well and they would be resending it out, which they did, several days before the season was to begin. The uniforms did not come until a day before the games which I had to hand out the day of our first game. As well, it was communicated to us the day before our practice later in the season we would not be able to have practice the next day and we could move it if we liked, because of a Fall Festival they had which had already been pre-planned. So why not let us know prior to 24hrs before? He did response to emails but in a timely manner was never taken into consideration. One game we even had to ref our own game because they didnt have a ref or he was late. The field director just told us we could run the game ourself or wait for them to arrive. We ended up doing it ourself and the ref showed up with a few minutes left in the game. Over all, the experience was not great for the parents, even to add the fact they forgot to set up a photographer for our team pictures. It felt to me that the program is not a priority and just is made to run itself. I would recommend using your city leagues such as Alabaster or Calera Parks & Recs. We will not be using them again for our daughter to participate in Youth Sports. If you do, be prepared to feel like you are walking around in the dark most the season.

Great location. Great friendly staff. Start my day off here even though a little more distance than the Pelham Y. Plenty of workout machines for different variations of exercise.

We decided to try out the YMCA Soccer after missing the citys deadline for sign ups. So far, it has been a mess. Coaches not showing up, practices and games being scheduled, cancelled and rescheduled without much if any notice at all. I cant speak for other sports, but the soccer program is unorganized. This was my daughters first attempt at a sport other than cheer, and Im afraid this experience will change her mind on trying again. Essentially we have spent over $200 for a jersey, one game and a handful of practices. Im disappointed because I expected more from the Y.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was almost empty. The hot tub was running, but we were there to go swimming. The kids loved it. It has a long, graduating ramp into the pool instead of the typical steps. I had to look it up: its called a zero entry pool. Its more accessible and provides a great area for little ones to comfortably play.

The youth sports program is supposed to teach skills and sportsmanship. Instead parents are being allowed to talk smack to kids on the opposing team. The referees said nothing to this individual who should have been thrown off the field. Dont expose your children to this, take them somewhere else.

Can not ever seem to be able to use any of the amenities because of overbearing policies. There is always some excuse for the pool being closed, and an indoor hot tub being closed do to weather? Are the showers closed too? Consider a different branch or a different organization to spend your money on.

Facilities are adequate, and its hard to beat the number of YMCA locations you have access to if you travel a lot for a living. If you do any weightlifting be warned: they have 75lb bars instead of 45lb arbitrarily scattered throughout the gym room. Might not seem like a big difference in lbs, but if you do any heavy lifting this could potentially be dangerous.

This place is kid friendly. My girls attended the summer camp and after school program. They loved going and really enjoyed the activities they participated in. There where a few incidents to occur. The staff was more than willing to workout and or work with me concerning any and every issue that occured. My girls have really bonded with some of the staff and development many friends. Why I was very pleased with my services. I really enjoyed the director and her assistant. It is unfortunate we have to move on. To anyone looking for Summer camp , Hoilday camp or afterschool care. I highly recommend your kids will enjoy it. Thank you for the experience.
