Tons of stuff to do here... probably when its fully open again. Went here about 2 yrs ago. The place was pretty clean. Though I think the biggest problem would be how far the restrooms are at any point. The Pride of Africa was under construction. And there was talk of more to come. Cant wait to visit when its fully functional again. The only thing I disliked was the awful smell before you got to the zoo. For a moment there, youd think it was the zoo its self. No its the surrounding area that stinks like sewage. Inside the zoo smells fresh and clean. Food was freaking awesome. Parking is not free but a few bucks if I remembercorrectly, but jammed packed when we got there. Drove around for a few looking for a spot. The tickets were okay pricing for what you get to see, even with construction going on. My kids loved the bird area, the cute funny otters, the lazy lions, and the funny bear sitting in the water against the window. The carousel was cute and the gift shop was huge.

So I love this zoo, but unfortunately anyone wanting to visit should wait until it opens up fully. Its a smaller zoo and everything inside (except the gift shop, go figure) is closed, so there is quite a bit less to see. However, it is one very nice experience under normal circumstances.

Great smaller zoo (compared to Cleveland or Columbus) that only takes about 1 mile of walking to see everything. The paths are easy to follow with minimal backtracking. Some of the older exhibits feel a little cramped, but they are actively working on new, larger exhibits; and the animals look happy.

Perfect for little day trip with kiddos or even adults. Not as many animals and as great as Cleveland zoo of course, but still very beautiful and plenty of animals. Loved it as a local Zoo, a good variety of animals and they keep it clean. Lots of stuff to interact with the kids. They have a really nice gift shop at the end also with all kinds of neat toys all animal related of course. My sons favorite thing and mine too was the otter hes so fast and playful. He glides through the water and always brings joy to me and my son when we get to see him.

Such a wonderful place to go with the family. Perfect for families with young kids because you can do the whole zoo in 2ish hours and then be home in time for naptime. My family visited Akron Zoo during Covid and things were very organized. They had arrows directing you through the zoo to better promote social distancing. No buildings were open so we will have to come back again to check those out. It is a smaller zoo so not as much walking as Cleveland or Columbus. Its definitely worth checking out, even during a pandemic, because the price is only $8 a person.

Great outing especially during these times. I went with my infant and toddler in the double stroller and felt very safe. You have to get tickets in advance to reserve a timeslot to enter. We had plenty of time to see the animals and were spaced away from other people. Popular exhibits like the lions have markers on the ground for distancing and staff present to reinforce it. I saw a staff member going around sanitizing frequently touched surfaces. Dont forget to wear your mask and you are allowed to bring snacks for little ones. Thank you Akron Zoo for a safe and fun outing!!!

I’ve always loved this little zoo. It may not have all the animals of the Cleveland zoo, but it is the perfect place for tiny humans to get a zoo day in without breaking the bank or breaking down. Truly an amazing zoo. Where it lacks in square footage, it makes up for in experience. Akron has done a great job in creating exhibits that have truly embraced the nature around it. The slope is a bit steep so you are made to hike uphill a bit, but the adventure awaiting you at the top is worth the calorie burn. Great for families with small kids. They have added areas along the way for them to play and splash. No age limit to have fun though. Adults, young at heart, can enjoy the splash zone, too. ;) and think, youre a 5 minute drive to downtown, Akron. The cafe is perfect. Great food options from veggie burgers to full sized salads and pizzas. A+, Akron, A+.

This is the perfect sized zoo for kids under 8. Why? Its small and walkable in under 2 hours. Its structured to be family friendly and accessible - both in layout and in learning. The zoo allows wagons and you can pack a picnic lunch! Older kids can have fun there too Im sure, but as a mom of a young child, I want a place that is contained and walkable in a reasonable time. Toddlers can only handle so much before a melt down. Moms too. Its a nice zoo, well maintained, with plenty to see and talk about. The carousel is fun and the otter slide is not to be missed. Moms and dads needing a break can sit in the rocking chairs and watch the kids go up and down the slide. And for the kid in all of us, the otter slide fits adults too. The gift shop is nice and very affordable. Zoo members get discounts on merchandise too. Overall - a great way to spend a few hours as a family.

The art and sculptures that decorate the exhibits are appealing and stand out from other zoos Ive visited. I cant wait to return in the spring to see other animals as well as the garden area!
