Excellent museum for children. Filled with creative, experiential exhibits for a range of ages from crawlers to young teens- a variety of great blocks, for small tabletop to large crawl-through constructing; engaging interactive musical displays; a fabulous wind construction; a diner with kitchen, booths and cash register; a backyard campsite; an area for babies; crafts, and so much more. Our four yo couldnt get enough- & it was all high quality play/ learning. And the kids (& parents) were pleasantly good about sharing & taking turns. Also, some good exhibits in the small woods between the parking and the indoor museum. There should be more places like this one!

Second time visiting with my toddler twins in two years...just not impressed. Granted my children are still young, but having visited a lot of museums and having worked as a curator earlier in my career, I just feel underwhelmed by this place. There’s a lot of dead space, the exhibits don’t flow, and some “exhibits” are oversimplified playroom stuff, and have no place in a museum. Granted a lot of areas were closed due to COVID, but I had the same reaction last year too. I honestly only returned because it was free and not a lot is open right now. Oh, and the regular entry price (currently suspended for the summer) is ridiculous. With a more thoughtful design approach and research, it could be worthwhile. They should look to the Children’s Museum and Museum of Science for inspiration. And lower the price permanently.

Something for all ages. The new building and the outdoor spaces give the mind a creative learning cerebral space. Social emotional development is amazing here just the way they facilitate play. As an adult, the set to is great enough that anyone can watch over that with allowance for autonomy to go on their own, within the space. Creates independence and growth for any child. Gift shop is adorable. Recommended for all ages.

Lots of fun for everyone. My kids are 3yrs and 1yrs old and they love going to Discovery Museum. There is 3 floors of activities for all ages in the main building and a fun treehouse and grounds outside. There is too much to cover in one trip which means youll have plenty to do the next time you go. Check the calendar because they do offer free admission at some times, which is a great way to get your kids hooked!

Havent been here in 15 years. Its much bigger and 10 times better now with a huge outdoor area. Indoors its absolutely great. I was here with a two-year-old and a four-year-old. The exhibits are on a par with the science museum. Plus theres the kind of thing you can only offer in a smaller Museum - a detailed arts and crafts area. Highly recommended.

We love the Discovery Woods!! We love the natural rock climb and slide area, the fort up there is really fun for the kids too! They also love the giant cargo net, walking down the giant logs, the build-your-own fort area, the pebble play area, pretend cooking in the stick tee-pees, and of course the giant tree house!! They also love going for hikes in the woods beyond the play area with the Forest Friday group. Highly recommend you bundle the kids up no matter the weather and get you there and let them get dirty!!

A fantastic place to bring our (1.5 yo) son in the winter to run around, burn some energy, and play in an environment built for little developing minds. The play areas are thoughtfully constructed and offer so many different ways to engage. The staff is friendly and attentive, and there are busy places full of kids along with quieter corners, depending on how your kid likes to play.Im sure once hes older well get more mileage out of the more advanced activities (theyre super cool!), but for now this place is simply an amazing giant play space. Get a year membership, come a bunch, and it will more than pay for itself in the hottest and coldest months of the year.

The new and improved space (reopened March 2018) packs quite a punch for its size, which I venture is a bit on the small side for a childrens museum. One can tell that the renovation was done thoughtfully and with lots of attention and care to children of various ages. The upstairs 0-3 area is lovely and well done, with high quality wood structures from Community Playthings.Outside of it, there are plenty of imaginary play stations, and each area has a shelf of books, to develop a love of reading. The fake fridge in the play cafeteria is the most handsome Ive ever seen and might be nicer than my own real fridge. I do have to say that despite a cute ticket stand, the train play station is a bit lacking. First, the main table doesnt allow for a long closed loop (which is sort of a must). Also, the rail tracks are not set. While its great for kids to lay tracks at home, it makes for a very messy enterprise in a busy public space, and most of them end up in a heap. Ive only seen mass track-laying work once, and it was in Japan, where every child could lay their own provided set in a huge room. Finally, there are not nearly enough tracks to actually make working loops in the space provided. In short, it seems that someone said, it would be great to give the kids a train area without actually talking to a train enthusiast. And thats a shame, because this is a popular attraction. The rest of the exhibits vary from the fantastic (water stations) to the everyday surprisingly fun (blow dryer with ball). It can get extremely crowded and the space inside is rather limited. I would go either on not so busy days or in the summer, when kids can also roam outside in the magnificent playground.

Ive visited a healthy handful of childrens museums at this point, and I find Discovery Museum to be a great spot for fun discovery situations and play. Having a 3 year old, and finding, as she was growing up, there were some museums better suited to toddler kids and some a little older, I would say this one could be great for 2 year olds. Definitely, though, the tree house, the fairy area, and the camp site I side made my daughter very excited!

This was our first time visiting the Discovery Museum. There were a lot of things for our son to try out. He enjoyed the water play area and the room with all the tubes that suck up the giant pompoms. There was also a giant wall full of magnetic gears for assembling and cranking things to see them spin. Theres plenty of opportunity for parents to join in the fun and not get bored. An adult can watch their child have fun from almost anywhere in the rooms. There are also outdoor areas to explore that we didnt have the chance to see this visit. It was a nice excursion where our son could pick what he wanted to do and we just went along with it. We saw young infants in strollers, other toddlers, and teenagers all having fun. This place doesnt have a restaurant or cafe so youll need to bring drinks and snacks. Or you can find something nearby since there are plenty of choices within driving distance of the museum. This place is within a 30 minute drive from home. Theres free parking but it fills up quickly, so get there early. We spent 2.5 hrs just exploring the main area of the museum. There are plenty of outdoor sections to explore for next time. I think this was a very successful adventure since it tired our little guy out. Well definitely be visiting again.

I had a really nice time with my son here yesterday. Even though it was very busy, we still found a place to park and were able to spend time at each exhibit that we wanted to. The exhibits are new, so things were mostly working. Lots of fun things to do and explore inside and out. I enjoyed the fact that they were not the same old exhibits you see at all the other children/Science museums in the area, they felt fresh. I think the space is well used too, as far as how the layout is. There were only a couple of areas where I felt very crowded, which is pretty good, considering how many people were there. We were able to leave, have a nice lunch, then come back and finish our visit. Parking is free.My complaints are not directed at the facility and are of a personal nature in that we experienced multiple incidents where parents made the experience unpleasant. Some parents were letting their kids use the exhibits in ways that can be destructive, or disruptive to other children trying to use them. I also saw some parents were so involved in the building process at some exhibits, they were telling their kids to go get more pieces, then the kids would go and take pieces from other kids. There were a couple of times where I had to tell kids to stop taking building materials from others, just so their parents could build huge structures. Seriously, one parent in particular seemed to be intent on using every single building block available, without any concern to the crying children whose blocks were being taken from them. He would tell his kids more pieces, his kids would go over to structures that other kids were in the middle of building, and just start dismantling their work and take the pieces, leaving them all upset. I even wondered aloud at one point Am I the only adult over here?. The same thing happened (twice) upstairs at another building exhibit (different adults). Very frustrating experiences with selfish adults. The only thing I can suggest to the facility is to add signs to the exhibits that remind patrons to play fair and share.
