Nice park with plenty of walking/ riding trails. Beautiful scenery with lots of ponds and wetlands. Nice place to escape the craziness of modern civilization for an hour or two. Lots of deer and also coyotes living in this park. Luckily more deer sightings than coyote sightings during the day.

Great hike if you do the pond loop about 5 miles. Busy in the beginning of the trails but once you get to the back side of the pond its nice quiet and not a lot of people around. Trails arent very well marked so if you use alltrails app it will be useful in some spots.

This was a gorgeous hike and the pup loved every minute of it. The only issue my group had was that we could not hike the perimeter of the lake. The area north was completely washed out and marshy, and we just didnt have the right gear for it. If you want to complete the loop:- dont go right the day after a rainstorm- pants, not shorts (too many thorns)- waterproof bootsThat said, we enjoyed the park as fully as we could. Wonderful experience with plenty of Geocaching.

MTB review: This place is a one of kind mtb spot that mostly consists of challanging rock features. I wouldnt recommend going here if you suck or ride xc but if you like hard and fun features this is a must hit. It isnt as impressive as places like Vietnam and trail variety is rather poor but if you like hard rock features GO HERE.

Purely gorgeous park! I have lived on the South Shore for more than twenty years, and this is the first time I’ve ever come to Ames Nowell! (“For shame!!”) It could be called a hidden gem if it weren’t prominent on all maps everywhere.I look forward to bringing friends and fam here.

My daughter and I love going to Ames Nowell. My only complaint is that people leave trash and fishing tackle. There are wild flowers that grow way out on the other side of the pond. Theres lots huge white pine, hemlock, beach and even a few Atlantic white cypress in the far out swamp areas. It is possible to walk completely around the pond thanks to me for cutting trails.

This is one of my favorites parks! There are so many trails and a wide variety of wildlife. Great for running and biking. There are usually people walking their dogs so if youre a dog person youll most likely run into some there are plenty of beautiful rocks to sit, meditate, nap or do yoga on and many beautiful views of the water.

This was a gorgeous walk after we eat for lunch. The park closes at sunset. There is a public bathroom next to the parking lot. There is a picknick area that is great for outdoors and camping. Great for 4th of July fireworks to watch at night. People come here for fun, games and recreation.

Mr
Review №76

Plenty of good trails for hiking and a hidden gem for mountain bikers, especially when you get out on the back side by chestnut street. Trail maps though are outdated with many trails that arent on the map and many intersecting trails that could really use a marker. Many single track type trails, though many could use maintenance, theres still plenty that are in good shape. The east side of Cleveland pond is mainly for the dog walkers, joggers etc. The west side is where the good trails are for biking and hiking. Some good elevations, plenty of old stone walls, and many trails go up and over large rock formations. Theres a good 4.5 - 5 mile loop around Cleveland pond but its only usable part of the year because the area by Beaver brook gets washed out, sometimes for months at a time. A few footbridges in this area would make the entire park much more usable, but the state doesnt own all the land. Although its been rumored for a few years theyre looking into buying it and incorporating it into the park.

Great local park. Relatively small. Nicely marked trails. A lot of broken glass around popular climbing rock. People bag their dogs poop, but then leave the bags all along the trail. Could use some trail clean up.

Trails could be a little bit more well marked and they need to do a better job cleaning up litter, but its a beautiful site. Quiet, rugged, and perfect for an Autumn day.

Ja
Review №85

Its a great hiking area, except one thing. The leash law is posted but people let their dogs run free. One ran at me like it was going to attack me and the owner walked slowly to us, making no big deal of his dog chasing after people. Dangerous situation. So be careful. Nice serene place except dogs leash law is not enforced.
