Beautiful park. Super fun for metal detecting

Many kids throughout abilene enjoy coming to this park, its nice and quiet, peaceful. To bad theres always somebody out there to destroy with their own Graffiti.

Nice park, playground, skateboarding park, tennis courts, senior citizens center, baseball field, adventure cove water park.

A good park with plenty of open space. There is a playground and a skate park here as well. A creek does run through the West side of the park. So, its something to be aware of with kids. There is also an outdoor amphitheatre near the playground and tennis courts on the East side of the property. There is a lot to do here and worth the visit.

Rose Park has been around for decades. Its a good-sized park with lots of room for kiddos to run around, play, and wear themselves out. This is great for the children AND the parents. There are quite a few things to do at this park for kids AND for grown-ups, too. (Oscar) Rose Park has a baseball/ softball field, a basketball court, a large playground, a decent skate/hockey park, a tennis court, a volleyball court, a recreation center, a walking/jogging path, picnic areas and picnic tables, a pavilion, restrooms (yes!), lots of benches throughout the park, and a creek (which is either dry as a bone or flooding dangerously, so not really what Id call a perk). The playground equipment is big, but its your basic plastic get-up that the City installed in ALL the parks in Abilene.Rose Park used to have the absolute BEST playground equipment in the world...at least I thought so growing up. The swings were shaped like horses so kids could pretend they were riding in a horse race (I loved those as a kid!). There was a big jailhouse made of metal bars that kids could climb all over, including the roof part. There was a big metal replica of a canon that we could climb on while pretending we were defending our forts. There were giant tractor tires painted different colors that had been buried halfway into the ground for kids to play on. There was one slide but it was super TALL! You would get the best stomach butterflies when sliding down. There was a merry-go-round (thats what all the kids called it) that children could sit or stand on while other kids ran, pushed, and spun it around as fast as they could, so everyone could get dizzy and wobble around when they got off. And the best thing of all? The SEESAWS! Where did seesaws disappear to? They need to come back! There were lots more fantastically creative things to play in and on back then, but I just wanted to mention the few that I thought were the most memorable and fun. Are there any other old school folks here that remember when Rose Park was the best park in Abilene? If so, please comment on which playground piece was your favorite back in the 70s and 80s at Rose Park! Thanks! Some of my best memories, as a kid, were of going to Rose Park. Of course, like most cities in the U.S., extreme safety regulations and measures were put in place and all the actual FUN things kids used to play on were ripped out, trashed, and replaced with bland, boring, cookie-cutter PLASTIC playground equipment. It was a very sad day. I never saw a good reason to do this, mainly because no-one ever got hurt or severely injured while using the original equipment. So...why fix what aint broke? Kind of like we used to ride our bicycles and would rollerskate without helmets and knee pads. But...what can you do.Other than the horrible destruction of the original playground, Rose Park is a decent park with a variety of activities to choose from. Its good for picnics and is a popular place to host birthday parties for children.

Great park! The skate park could use some clean and repairing but overall its a good park.

Kids had fun. Decent sized playground equipment. Lots of land to run around in... Good for bringing your dog on a walk and your kids will love it. Skateboard park close. Not really involved in all that though but it seems okay since it usually has several people in it...

Love this place, the lazy river is kind of small but for the price this is a great waterpark.

Nice park. Lots for toddlers to do. Walking trail for those who like to walk. Skating area for skate boarders and bikers. Picnic tables and BBQ grills. Bathrooms available yet not usually clean. Teens at the skate park can get out of control. Some bully others. I wonder if there is some pot smoking under the bridge. Teens smoke cigs out there often. You gotta take the good with the bad and make the most of it.

Good park with small track to walk around the play ground. Also includes Concrete Skate Park as well as the new edition to Abilene the Water Park .

This Sprouse public park is actually located on what used to be a horse track. Its one of Abilenes biggest parks. The playground is huge! Special bonus!!! There is a skate park located here. The only one you will find between Ft. Worth and Midland TX. Multiple grills for BBQ. Basketball court. Multiple tennis courts. A senior citizen center. Be careful with little ones, there is a creek that runs through the entire park.

Looking for old tennis balls stuck in bushes for dogs. Freshly mowed.
